Across the Universe was an instant favorite movie for me. I am a Beatlemaniac, and couldnt be happier with the way that movie turned out. The music was amazing, the acting was superb, and the trippy scenes were perfect. I recommend this to Beatles fans, musical fans, art fans, and even those fond of none of that!...

I went to see this movie not having any idea what it was, what it was about, who was in it or anything. I had no expectations. The movie is more like an indie/musical film, but I enjoyed it. The actors were great, especially the main one, Jim Sturgess. This movie defies all rules, the plot is not a perfect square as plots are in other films, it is made how it wants to be. I would give it 4 out of five stars....

This movie is incredable,so creative and inspiring. I'm not much into musicals generally,but it was cool to already know the words to all the songs. Not disapointed by the covers either so versions i think were better than the original. Great actors,great story,this is my favorite movie....

I thought this movie was awesome, The charcters were so likeable, the singing was great the acting was phenomimal. If you like the Beatles, you will love this movie, It had humor, Drama, Happiness, Sadness, Love all the emotions to make a hit. I would recommend this to people. This is a movie I could watch over and over.....

Across the Universe was under-rated I think. This movie was exceptional. We finished watching it the first time and were already ready to watch it all over again. It was the perfect blend of music and plot. The remakes of the songs were really great. We listen to the soundtrack all the time and each song reminds us of the specific parts of the movie it happened in. I think this movie was worthy of many many awards and I think it is a shame that most people are like "what is that movie?" DuH, it's only like 500 times better than Hairspray which I think just about everyone in the continental America's went to see. Oh, and the cast can sing really good. The only thing bad I have to say about it is that I hate the Helter Skelter song. RENT IT, BUY IT!...

So this movie is a musical, but I have to say its not a cheesey one! If you love the era of the Beetles than you will love this movie. The music is great and the characters are wonderful. Each song has meaning in the characters life at the time they sing. I hope everyone will take the time to watch it and see what you think. I loved it so much I bought it for my collection.......

Across the Universe was a wonderful movie....probably even if you don't know all the Beatle songs by heart. I loved the interpretations of the songs which gave many of them new meaning to me. Visually, the movie was extraordinary, and it's neat in times like this to revisit Viet Nam. We should never forget....

I wanted to see Across the Universe from the moment I saw the first advertising for it. As a big Beatles fan, all I needed to know was that the film extensively used Lennon/McCartney and Harrison songs to tell a story. The bottom line is that I really enjoyed the film, from its straightforward romantic storylines to its clever excursion into psychedelic surrealism.

First, the songs are sung by the cast members of the film, not by the Beatles. This worked out pretty well, as the cast has good voices. If you're familiar with the songs of the Beatles, then describing the plot and the characters will sound a little trite. I cringed a little as the plot became clear and the characters were introduced, but it worked out better than my initial impression indicated. You see, all the characters' names are based on Beatles songs and that sounded just a little silly.

Set in the 1960s, the main character is Jude (Jim Sturgess), who is a young shipworker from Liverpool, England. He gets a job aboard...

I totally fell in love with this movie when i saw it in theaters and couldnt wait for it to come on dvd. THe way that its just so different from every other movie that is out there really makes me lkove it more. i love how all the songs were made into a different sound from what the beetles had because perosnally when the beetles sing them they are just horrible. I love this movie!...

Basically the trailer for this movie is way better then the actually movie. The trailer is a good representation of what happens in the movie except for the weird inappropriate parts. I loved the fact that the movie was about the Beatles and included a lot of their songs. I have to admit that the plot of the story was good which included a great love story. The actors are really good actors and have amazing voices. I really just didn't like the whole middle section of the movie. It just gets really weird and confusing....

This is an amazing movie. Who wouldn't totally love a musical based on the awesome music by the Beatles? It's a moving story about war, love, life, finding yourself...just great. The music is really well done, the acting is something totally different, and the story is truly touching....

I am not a Beatles fan, but this movie blew me away. I love music and I have a passion for it. It was great to finally see a movie use music as the focal point and have the images help express the songs. It was full of emoition and love, it was a great experince. I have since been listening to the Beatles everyday. This movie was great and it stayed on my mind days after I watched it. It is a must see for sure. And the covers were great!...

This movie is beautiful, a true work of art.

The music is amazing, especially "Mr. Kite". Great colors, imagery. And a lot of fun.

Let me start by sayin this is a great movie. Even mu husband who typically hates things like this grudginly admitted it wasn't that bad. I loved watching it, it was a great movie experience. The onyl downside to me is after seeing how great Titus was (of the same director) this fell short of my expectations. I was expecting perhaps a bit more subtlety in the characters instead of being hit over the head with Joplin/Hendrix/McCartney. It was beautiful to watch, it was moving, and not being alive during that time myself, I feel the setting of the music really helped to udnerstand the music a little more, and see it in a different light.

Go rent it! It's great, but then go rent Titus, and you'll understand what I'm talking about. I wanted more from this movie, and I know it had the potential to be more, and I'm just a little disappointed it didn't live up to my expectations, but again, those were extraordinarily high expectations.
