I bought an Acer Extensa at Best Buy on clearance for about $599. I purchased it last year and it has not let me down not one time since I have bought it. My laptop came with Windows Vista, whic I too am very satisfied with. My Acer laptop has many capability's that my other computer did not offer, the main ones being the solution center and the Acer Enet management system. Anytime there is a problem with my computer, it closes the program and finds a solution to the issue at hand. Most of the time my computer automatically fixes itself and I have to do nothing but simply click ok. This feature is very important to me because I do not know a whole lot about computers when it comes to fixing issues with them or their operations. My laptop fixes itself, what more can you ask for? I absolutely love my Acer Extensa and would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a new laptop or just wants to exchange their old one and simplify thier lives.
...

I was debating on the issue to go with a laptop or a desktop. The decision was made for me when I became an owner of a Acer extensa 4420 back in May( a gift from my mother) ... At first I was worried because I had heard that Acer was a cheap product and wasnt any good. I had it checked out by a computer savy guy, who said it was a good computer. I use it on a daily to check my day to day items. I have recently been promoted to handling an account online and it is a blessing to have this laptop. I can take it on the go and use it whenever I need to. I have tons of pictures downloaded on this thing as well.. The cool part about it is that I didnt even have to download software on here. All I have to do was insert my sd card and whala! pics download to the computer instantly. The downfall to this computer would have to be the battery life... I am not one for grabbing up all the wires when I am on the run and it wont even last three hours before it dies.

All in all I would say that...
...

Less than 6 months ago I bought this laptop to replace another laptop I had passed on to my daughter. Everything started out wonderfully. The first 4 months all parts worked as they should. I really enjoy the screen size, the built in web cam, dvd-drive, wireless internet capability. Once fully charged it even gave me 3 full hours of freedom from electrical outlets.

The first sign of technical difficulty was with the power cord. Sometimes it would charge when I plugged it in and other times it would stubbornly sit at the same level of available battery as before it was attached to the cord. After reading up on this at a few helpful forums I learned it is common to the Acer laptop. Something to do with Windows Vista, they say. The advice was to remove the battery from the laptop and then put it back in. Miracle of miracles it worked. My battery once again began to charge. A few weeks later the power cord completely quit working. I am now forced charge my Acer with the cord from......

I just got the same laptop from Best Buy, and paid the same amount (including tax). It is wonderful. I have used the Crystal Eye webcam so that my mother can see her grandson (she lives 3000 miles away), and have had no problems with any programs shutting down. It comes with 2GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, a DVD writer, and Windows Vista Home Premium. I haven't used the E-Technology at all, nor am I a hardcore gamer or someone who demands ridiculous performance levels for graphics, etc....but for everyday use by a computer addict, I'm incredibly pleased with this product.

(I'm afraid to launch the GridVista in case I can't get it off either, but have you tried Ctrl+Alt+Del and ending the program through Task Manager?)
...

Got my Acer Extensa for Best Buy, paid about $550.00. I have been mostly happy with it. I had Vista already installed. One thing I have found confusing is the built in E-Technology. It keeps knocking me off my home based DSL Service. It has a few glitches here and there with programs shutting down unexpectedly, but overall its good. The built in crystal eye for a web cam is neat but it is stationary, so you have to move the laptop to allow it to see. My son and I use it to chat with family and find it useful to see and talk. I clicked on the program Acer Grid Vista and can't seem to turn it off, that is very frustrating, if someone knows how let me know....
