I was not sure about this mini laptop when my husband wanted to buy one. I had not heard much about Acer but I thought we could give it a try because it was very cheap compared to other laptops. We have had ours for a year now and I still love it! We have another laptop but we always fight over the Acer because it is so much easier to manage than bigger and bulkier laptops. Surprisingly, for its size it has a really long battery life (about 6 hours I think). It is so small it is really easy to take with me if I know I am going to be in a waiting room or something for a while. i have even carried it places in my purse. I'm sure it wouldn't be the best computer for storing big files or working on anything too complicated, but it is great for getting on the internet or just playing games. It also has a built in web cam so we use it to talk to relatives. The price on the laptop was so low almost anyone could afford to get one. In fact, after seeing ours, several friends have ordered one for...
...

renesroost says "I love this netbook!" about Acer Aspire One

This netbook is so cute! And it's extremely light to carry around. I keep mine in my purse since it is so small and this keeps it very handy when I'm on the go. I can download pictures from my camera in just a few seconds.

The Acer Aspire One is super fast and I've never had any problems connecting to the Internet with the installed WiFi card. I just recently got mobile broadband, and even that was simple and easy to get started with. I recently took my Acer netbook on a flight and had very good results with the onboard WiFi. I also used it for my travel journal while I was on vacation.

The smaller keyboard and monitor takes a little getting used to, but not really a problem. Another drawback might be the lack of a CD Rom, which is easily taken care of with an external CD Rom or the use of an SD card.

I would recommend the Acer Aspire One to just about everyone. It can do so much and it weighs so little.
...

My wife and I both own one of these small and powerfull laptops.I can honestly say these are a great deal. The price is right and the portability factor is great. Most men take a magazine to the restroom I take my aspire one !This little laptop comes in pink, white, black and blue and has alot of power.Compared to others its size the aspire one packs a larger hard drive for storage and more ram memory then you realy need it runs windows xp verry fast and browses the web great it lacks in powerfull graghics but does have 3d exceleration.Although it does not come with a built in cd/dvd drive it is still a great laptop. skilled users can work around this by installing a virtual drive program.Unskilled users can buy an external usb cd/dvd drive as an extra. It does however come with one multi card reader and one dedicated sd card reader for extra storage. If all you need is portability, social networking, e-mail and everyday internet browsing then this is the laptop for you!!
...

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1435 (LU.S040B.214) Netbook.

I feel extremely fortunate to have found one of these great little computers at Costco recently. This computer is perfect for commuters or students because the size is so portable and yet, it is capable of most of the standard computer functions we have come to use in our daily lives.

It weighs just under three pounds (more like 2.2 pounds actually)! It looks and feels solid, not cheap or flimsy at all. My Acer One is a sleek, shiny onyx black color. The keyboard is very close to regular size (in fact it is 89% the size of a regular keyboard), so my fingers don't feel cramped. It comes with a long life battery, that is easily clamped onto the back of the computer. The Acer Aspire One Computer Netbook costs $300, it's a price that is much more affordable. For example, I take it along now when I stop in at my favorite local coffee hangout. It works great in places that provide wi-fi connections. Taking it on a plane was so easy too;...
...

My desktop computer is downstairs. My wife uses a Macbook Pro but doesn't typically come down to the Man Cave. Realized after several months that having a laptop might help us spend more time together. This little Acer was the answer. Now I'll join her by the fireplace and we'll happily surf and chat.

Other positives -- it's small, fits in the side pocket of a small carry-on roller. Very handy for traveling. It's gotten to the point where I take the Acer and a thumb drive on business trips instead of the company laptop. The first couple of times I broke it out at the conference table, the attention started coming my way.

It's important to note that it's not blazing fast -- simply doesn't have the power of a dual core processor. But, power is not why I bought this little guy.

The six hour batter life is pretty close to as advertised.

Lastly, it's solidly built. My wife dropped it off the security line conveyor at the airport (not in it's protective case) and it fired...
...

My husband bought the Acer Aspire One Laptop for me for my birthday back in April, I believe the cost for it was around $390.00 plus it came with a few extras. When we recieved the laptop in the mail, it was very easy to start it up. When I took it out of the box I couldn't believe that I was able to pick it up with one hand. The keyboard is very nice, the mouse is easy to use. The laptop has pretty good space on it. I am a game lover, so I have at-least four games downloaded into my computer at once. It's never slowed the computer down having that many. I am also a graphics maker here and there, so I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and it runs beautiful. It's a great computer for a teenager who just likes to talk to her friends and such as well. The screen size is pretty nice as well, it's not too small and not too big. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase that my husband made for me. It fits into my purse sometimes and its easy to take along with you. It has a built in microphone &...
...

a great netbook for under $300 the acer aspire one is the netbook for anyone. Dont be fooled by its small size with a 1.6 GHZ prosesser 1GB on ram and a 160 GB hard drive its got plenty of resourses for all your web surfing needs even movies are fun to watch on its 10.1 inch LED display at 1024X600. ive even played high end games with no problem. The only drawback is that it dosent have a cd drive but if you have a desktop computer and a thumb drive you can transfer any media you wish. in addition to the above mentioned features it has a VGA out, headphone & microphone ports, ethernet port, built in wi-fi, 3 USB ports,SD card reader. this is by far my favorite computer i take it everywhere.well this is my first reveiw i hope this meets your expectations and requirements i hope to continue reviewing products for this company. and many thanks to send earnings for the offer, im runing out of things to say now. lol
...

My mom (born 1959) remembers having the opportunity to "tour" a computer when she was in grade school... and though she doesn't remember much from the experience, she DOES remember the gentleman who gave the tour declaring, "I don't know why anyone would want a computer smaller than this." At the time, the size of a computer required the space of an entire room.

What a ways we've come since then! Acer's "ASPIRE one" is one of the most compact computers you can have, if you don't count cell phones. This little guy has been perfect for what I got it for---taking back and forth with me to my job where I go from floor to floor, collecting and analyzing data. The primary programs I use are Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer, though my husband has installed and plays WarCraft on it from time to time. The computer works very well for our uses, though I do have a couple complaints.

We purchased the Acer Aspire One for my eleven year old daughter. It is light weight and is perfect for anyone on the go and especially for kids and beginners. The battery life on this laptop is much better that I expected. It has remained charged for several hours and made a long trip easier to deal with. The charger for the Aspire One has a LONG power cord. It is much longer than the more expensive Laptop we purchased. It has three USB ports and also 2 slots for SD cards (one of those will house any memory card). The laptop has great color and the keyboard is really easy to get used to using. Since the speakers, microphone and webcam are built in, there is no need for anything extra. The webcam occupies kids even on the longest trips! The memory on the Aspire One can be upgraded, although the beginning memory was more than sufficient. The Acer Aspire One is available in many colors, including white, black and the awesome metallic blue!
...

Even though I am a Mac person, I had to join the PC brigade once I saw the price of the Acer Aspire One drop below $300 at my local Costco. I used to travel with my 12-inch titanium Macbook (they don't make it anymore), which was easy to slip into my carry-on, but it was also quite heavy. This Acer is even smaller (about 7X10) and weighs in at a miniscule 2.2 pounds. It's an amazingly convenient device to take on the road.

The machine fires up surprisingly quickly, but the processor is a bit slow (1.6GH vs. 2.13GH on my new 13-inch MacBook), and you may find yourself waiting a bit for programs and web pages to load.

The screen is admittedly small, but it's no problem to use for answering email and reading (especially since so many people are reading and writing on their iPhones and BBerrys these days already). Ditto for the keyboard -- it's very useable, but you will fat finger keys pretty regularly. I also like the battery life, which runs about 4 hours for me. And while there is no CD...
...

I have been using the Acer Aspire One since February and am more than satisfied. I use it mainly for e-mail and internet access when away from home. Lightweight and small, I use it more than my heavyweight Toshiba laptop. The lack of a DVD drive is not a problem as I bought an external drive.

My only real complaint is the lack of volume from the speakers. This only comes into play when I use the DVD drive to watch a movie at a motel when on the road. In all aspects the Aspire One lets me do all my required tasks. I have added the Acer to my wireless home network which allows me to print documents on my main printer from anywhere in my house.

I would recommend this netbook to anyone who wants a small, lightweight traveling computer (or if you want to have e-mail/internet access in the house away from the main computer. Priced at under $300, the Acer is a class winner.
...

I bought the Acer Aspire One recently, and have fallen in love with it! It did take a little getting used to, since the keyboard is smaller than a "normal" laptop, but now that I have gotten used to it...it's so handy! Also, the "mousepad" is very small and has this weird swirly motion that scrolls which I hate, but if I just got a wireless mouse or USB mouse, I'm sure it'd be fine. I'm a flight attendant, so I've got to be able to pack light, but also be in contact with family and friends while I'm flying all over the country. The Aspire One's built-in Wi-Fi is really easy to use and lets me get online practically everywhere (I pretty much live in hotels and aiports where free wi-fi abounds). The built-in SD card reader is also very nice...I'm able to take my SD card right out of my digital camera and just put it in the slot on this tiny computer and in no time, I'm uploading pictures to post to Facebook or send in e-mails or whatever.
...
