My husband bought me a Acer laptop, never owning one, I didn't know what to expect. I love my laptop, I enjoy the freedom of not being stuck to a desk all day long. The only down fall I have found with this laptop is that the battery doesn't last long. But that's why it's nice to have the cord to plug it in when it dies. It's been a great laptop for a great price.
...

staceynallen says "I am looking for a cheap laptop (friends 2)" about Acer Aspire 5610 Laptop

Hello to all, I am new here and trying to figure out how to work this thing out. I am just trying to find new friends and some information on cheap laptops that I can purchace. I don't have a laptop at the moment but I have used them in the past, just would like one now so that if I go any where, I can just pack it up and go. Man I hate having to write about things espeacilly when they have to be at least 900 words. I guess that all I can say is that laptops are much easier to carry around with you then a big computer. you can plug it in almost anyplace that has a plug outlit. Na not only that, if you need to remeber something, instead of writing it on paper or something, all you need to is take your laptop out of it's bag, find a plug, pug it in and do the other things you have to do, and then type anythig that you need to save and that's it. I would rather have a laptop then a big computer, but I like to be on the computer alot and if I am not at a place where there is internet, I can...
...

A couple of years ago my husband suggested that I get a laptop for when we go away on weekend camping trips and vacation. I guess he was hinting that he knew I was miserable when I couldn't check email for a couple of days in a row, let alone a whole week out of town. I took him up on the offer since I have already been mulling the thought over in my head and we planned a trip to Best Buy. Once there, we browsed over all the display models and talked to a salesman on duty. I thought I wanted a Toshiba satellite, but the salesman talked me into an Acer Aspire 5610 Laptop. I couldn't argue after he told me Acer had been around in Europe for several years, especially when I found out that the price was a couple hundred dollars less than the Toshiba.

Acer Aspire 5610

The Acer Aspire 5610 Laptop is a pretty basic laptop with 1GB of RAM, 160 GB of hard disk space, multi-format DVD player, 4 USP ports (two on the side and two on the back), 15.4 inch LED screen, 1.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo...
...

I purchased the Acer Aspire 5610 to use for school and work. When I first bought it, it came loaded with bunches of Acer software. The software hogged the memory. Once I removed the Acer software, the computer runs great. I love this laptop and would not be able to live without it even though we have two desktops as well. I recommend this affordable laptop to anyone who needs to work on the go or just wants some freedom on where they can work or play on the computer. I would recommend buying a longer lasting battery though, because the one that comes with it dies pretty quickly.
...

so easy to get started just plug in and use .I expected complicated setup. My only complaints would be when I set the screen to go to standby to save power it has become very dark when it come back on and I have to adjust the brightness. I have also had a couple of Vista issues that were easily resolved.
...

I bought an acer laptop before starting my sophmore year in college. The computer itself was fine but after 3 months the battery broke and it costs $200 to replace it. I talked to someone who fixes computers and he said that he sees acers in his shop every week with the same problem. Save your money and buy a more expensive but better laptop....

Overall I love this laptop. I have a SONY Vaio but I like this Aspire better because it is lighter in weight and has a built in camera. The software I use on it is fast and effecient and connecting to the internet via my wireless network is fast and easy. The only problem I have is with the display screen. The resolution is 1024 by 768 which is recommended but for some reason my pictures are stretched and look a bit distorted. If I change the resolution then I don't get a full screen. I'm not sure why, but some banners do not show up, like the "REDEEM" banner on the My Points website. I still run Windows XP as opposed to VISTA because I knos XP so much better. This was one of the last laptops I found that still had XP. It is so lightweight I can use it while Im in bed just on my lap....

Bought this laptop for $499 at circuit city back in August. It now lists for $699. Huge value for what you get. Super fast, internet is great. Came loaded with Vista-still learning about that. Compatible with my Microsoft Office for XP-even though they say it's not. I had no problem.
If you're looking for a great deal on a laptop without spending $1000,look at Acers. They are #3 right now behind Dell and Hp and with good reason. I couldn't get a dell or HP with the same specs....

I did a lot of research on-line when I decided I was going to purchase a laptop computer. Part of my research was to scan the local sales ads to see what was on sale. Then make some choices. Then I would jump online and look for reviews for the systems I chose. When the Acer Aspire 5610 was on sale at a local Best Buy, I was pretty pleased with the reviews, finding the biggest issue was with the "on board mouse action". I purchased it for $699.99. It came with all the standard stuff, but what really put this one over the top in terms of value for the money is that is came with 2 GIGS of RAM! I am very happy with the performance of this machine. Though I do have to agree I don't like the mouse. I did purchase a small optical mouse with a jump drive type connector with is wonderful! If you are looking for battery longevity, purchase another battery. I get just under 2 hours.
...
