I have used AARP for several years for our Medicare Supplemental Insurance and Prescription Part D insurance and they are very expensive. The thing I dislike the most about AARP is that they are very left minded and they have special arrangements made with the drug companies and medicare. AARP has been around for a long time and most people over 50 think they should have AARP membership. After doing a lot of reading and checking, I found that they really spend a lot of money that they wouldn't have to. I was getting my prescriptions at Walgrens and they have special prices set up with AARP. We started going to Walmart and use their list of drugs that you can get for $4.00 for 30 day supply and $10.00 for a 90 day supply. Have saved at least $l,000.00 over the past year on prescription drugs. You do have to really check on everything and make sure you always have the doctor give you a prescription for generic drugs.
