Of course if Oprah says to read it, America Does. I found this book taking me a long time to read. I tried to absorb each chapter and apply the message to my every day life.

I liked the printable work sheets available on line at Oprah's website. I could work at my pace and think about things before listening to the broadcast.

Although I didn't agree with a lot of his beliefs or teachings or outlook on many things, I did find it helpful in certain aspects of my life. I would recommend reading this book with an open mind. It is someone else's view on life and the things that happen and how we react to them. He gives advice on handling life - although some of his ideals were different than mine. There is good advice for everyone - if you just hang in there until the end.

Overall I would recommend it to a friend with the advice of reading it slowly, don't try to analyze tolle's thoughts or his beliefs, but try to apply some of the advice to the areas of your life that need improving. ...

As a fan of self improvement books, I'm always looking for more reads that will help me grow as a person. After reading, "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle, I found the major self-growth aid I didn't even know I was looking for! Okay, I do watch episodes of Oprah that I find relative to me, but I don't necessarily follow the Oprah Book Club. In fact, this was the first of her picks that I read. Before the suggestion, I was stagnet in my life and was looking for something to help me move forward. This book did the trick. I found myself reading, highlighting, taking notes, marking pages that I wanted to refer back to and rereading. I still refer back to the book when I need. This book is a must for those who are in the process of becoming aware....

I thought reading "A New Earth" and participating in the class online was one of the most enriching, enlightening experiences of my life. All throughout my life I have often felt like an "outcast"; like I didn't quite fit in with any particular "group" of people...but this book allowed me to see there was a purpose to my life and showed me how to get beyond many of my life's past difficulties.

I have never in my life read anything or heard a discussion that showed me that there was a "purpose" for me in this world. But not just for me...it's not really about me...there is a purpose for every single person on this planet. There were so many parts of this book that I have often thought in my mind, but never heard anyone actually write or speak about!

My biggest problem has been since I originally read the book, I have not been practicing the meditation or a lot of the helpful suggestions or techniques as I had planned.

This book is an awesome read, if you are ready to work on yourself as a being of the world. It can be a difficult journey, reading the material, but if you get bits and pieces as you go, and find yourself going "yeah", it is the beginning of the journey.

A great assistant is the workbooks from Oprah's website. It is too bad it wasn't included in the book.

You really have to live in the present to see the real benefits of this book....

Read this book. Change your life. Eckhart Tolle is a genius. I felt my life shifting with every word on every page. He had me in tears at some points with the truth about myself pouring out of the pages of that book. I could read and reread that book over and over. I bought his other books and had the same experience.

He's right. You need to be ready for his words. If not, the book will mean nothing to you. Like many, I am very grateful for him, his books, and his humble approach towards life....

I really looked forward to trying a book with a discussion on a web. But it didn't work well. I had trouble with my computer keeping up with the viewing, so I had to read the book on my own & use the workbooks. I really wanted to get it, but just couldn't. I read you might not get it at first, but keep trying. Well I still haven't gotten it. I've printed the workbooks & perhaps one day will try again. The language in the book isn't normal self help, I find it confusing. Maybe another day it will make sense to me, but it doesn't right now....

I wish I could say that I enjoyed this book but I can't. This average woman just could not wrap her head around it. In keeping with the works of Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer I find them to be too "heady" for my brain to understand. I may try again someday and hope that my ADD won't kick back in.

Everyone should read this book. If you have an ego or no someone that does, you will be enlightened by the information in this book. It can be a little challenging to absorb some of the material at times, but when it sinks in, boy does it ever! Do yourself a favor. Read this book and help change the world....

As a big fan of getting in touch with my inner self, I was swept up in the Oprah buzz on this book and couldn't wait to get it. Decided to buy the audio version so I could listen to it on my Ipod whenever I had a spare moment. I have to say that the author should not have narrated this audio book himself, his heavily accented voice is monotonous and boring, and the book's contents are presented in a very guilt-inducing way. Instead of feeling uplifted and enlightened, after every chapter I felt inadequate and even depressed. I got through about half of the 5-disc set and gave up, and have felt much better ever since! There are many out there who will claim I was "just not ready" to receive this "profound message," but I I did not find the subject matter to be very inspiring at all. Maybe the print version is better, but I will pass on that one as well. ...

This is a book for anyone who is ready to see the world in a new light to read. This gives all different views and very interesting theories on life and death. I believe it changed my life for the better and is something that I do not go for a day without thinking about. This is something that you really just have to experience for yourself. No one can experience it for you and really, you wouldn't want them to....

Some people will love this book and some will think it foolish. It opened my eyes to why I do some things that I didn't understand. He calls it an awakening and in a way I guess it is. I never thought that much about my ego before. My hubby and I sometimes argue to get in the last word and that is our ego's. I didn't think about what it taught children to watch their parents arguing. I knew it wasn't good but I didn't realise to what depth. It is a book that sets you to thinking in a new way and opens your eyes, your heart and your ego. We can all learn from it. I had read his book " The Power of Now" a long time ago and loved it. This is taking it further so give it a try. You will either love it or hate it. I am betting you will love it....

Eckhart Tolle has long been a FAVORITE inspirational teacher of mine since "The Power of Now." I hope that the many who have found this work inspiring will later read or listen to "The Power of Now." However, this book is MORE enchanting if you've read or listened that one FIRST then read his latest book "A New Earth." For me, A New Earth was more of a refresher and not really NEW. Many of the concepts were already taught in The Power of Now. If this is your first Tolle, then many on the seekers path will find this refreshing and will more likely feel that Eckhart has helped to escalate their efforts when reading or listening to this book.

Those who do not know yet that they are "seekrs" of something will surely awaken their higher self to this purpose after engaging in one of Eckhart's many books or CD's. I find that he relaxes me as well as bring about a Peace that is much needed within human kind. What he talks about and teaches is not NEW or SPECIAL by any means because...

i have read, and listen to this book over and over again, i also am in the class
oprah has goning , and i still want more this is so interesting and it really works.
this is the best book i have ever read it is so enlightening, and uplifting like eckhart said
if your ready you will understand this book, if your not ready this book won't mean any
thing to you. just to get rid of the ego base and the pain body, and live with peace
is the best thing that ever happen to me and i really want evey one else to be free.
this world would be the best place if we all would awaken to our life's purpose.
its worth a try. i would give this book 100 stars and it still would not be enough.
