Her use of real life historical characters makes her books even more interesting. I love that the women in her books are strong and independant given the historical period that she uses as her backdrop. </p><p>In this novel, the Lady Adair Radcliffe Countess of Stanton, loses her parents at a young age, but not before finding out that her true father was King Edward IV. She is sent off to live at King Edward's court and is educated along side his other children. When she learns that he is arranging for her to be married she heads back home as she has learned her home has been rebuilt courtesy of her uncle Richard of Gloucester. Her young husband is sent to her, only to be killed a few months later by Scottish raiders. She marries again, conceives a daughter who does not make it through her first day of life, and sees her husband off to aid her uncle in battle as he has recently been name King after Edward's passing.
