I'm a novice cook, but I like to think that I've gotten better over the past few years as I've cooked dinners for friends, family, and my husband. I don't really watch a lot of TV, but lately I've found myself watching a couple of hours of the Food Network Channel each night. One of my favorite shows to watch is Thirty Minute Meals with Rachael Ray.

As the name implies, this is a 30 minute show that follows Rachael Ray as she cooks a "healthy and delicious meal from start to finish". I've seen her make steaks, pork chops, pasta, fish, and huge salads, almost all of which have looked good enough to get me thinking about making them. One thing I really like about watching Thirty Minute Meals is the fact that you see Rachael Ray actually do everything, including pulling ingredients out of the fridge, chopping them up, cooking them, etc. There are no bowls filled with pre-chopped and pre-measured ingredients, nor does she whip a finished dish out of the oven at the same time that...
...

I love this show. It really is helpful when all you have is 30 minutes. this way you can still have a home cooked meal but still have time to do what you have to do around the house or anywhere else. this is also a way to stay healthy you don't have to go pick up mcdonalds for the kids or yourself you can cook a great meal in 30 minutes.
...

Rachel Ray is my all time favorite tv personality for the past couple years. Since I have been in college I have become obsessed with Food Network and her and now that she has her own daytime show!! Its amazing. She is so fun and down to earth. Every one can relate to her! I love her shows and her personality. 30 Minute Meals is a great show that shows anyone who has a kitchen can cook and even in 30 minutes you can have a fabulous dinner or lunch! Its a good show that everyone should check out!
...

Ok, I am the first to say how goofy she is, but that is part of her charm. She cooks things we can all cook unlike Emeril, who you need to go to culinary school to keep up with him. Rachel Ray actually cooks the entire meal in the 30 minutes you watch the show, so you can cook along with her. And most of her food is healthy and still yummy. She also takes all those hard to make dishes from our childhood, and makes them faster and healthier, but still taste great.
...

Maybe it's just me, but I seem to be in the minority about my feelings towars Rachael Ray. Even though she's the new "It Girl" (and is even loved and revered by Oprah Winfrey herself!), I just can't get past her goofy laugh and her hand waving, raspy voiced, droning monologues about her "wonderful" meals, her "faboo" husband, her "best mom and Grandpa in the world"....even her dog is subject of her fodder!

Yes, I will admit that some of her meals sound a tad appetizing. But it's so hard to get past her swollen adenoids and her ridiculous nicknames and "secret language" (i.e. -- EVOO, and Yum-O!"). Even the colors of her kitchen set make me dizzy!

...

Rachael Ray is my kitchen hero! I began watching 30 minute meals in 2001, and became addicted immediately! I love to cook, but never have the time. But since watching Rachael I've been able to make meals in just minutes and enjoy them. My family loves her recipes! She is fun to watch and very informative....Thanks Rachael for all you do!! Keep up the great work!
...

I really love watching Rachel Ray 30 minute shows. I'm her regular audience; her EVOO and "yum O" get me hook. I love cooking and have tried many of her recipes. I really like the simple and easy to find ingredients. Although, she could cook up a meal within 30 minutes for the show, it usually take me more an hour or so. But neatless to say, watching her show I've enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes. ...

Too much cheese, too much salt, too much olive oil/butter combination, too much unhealthy combinations to make a well balanced and "healthful" meal possible.

It seems not matter what she makes it always looks like bodily fluids from my pets.

I used to like her alot. But, nothing ever seemed to look tasty.

She doesn't even bother to taste anything before deeming it "yum-o". When other people cook on t.v they taste what they are preparing, albeit not uncooked meats/fish. Giada de Laurentis always tastes her dishes. She always takes a good forkful or spoonful and enjoys what she's eating. Ray at the end of her shows either barely tastes a bite or takes a looong time dishing out food to put on a plate so the camera time runs out. Really, how could she really know how successful a recipe is if she seems repulsed by her finished products?

I want to watch a cooking shows where good healthy ingredients don't look gross at the end of a show or make me run to the bathroom.

I have tried several of her......

They are great for the busy family or couple.

Rachel's meals are ones you can actually see yourself eating. She makes a variety of different dishes for a wide variety of watchers. I like that she seems like a normal person while creating these dishes.
