After many weeks of begging, I finally convinced my boyfriend to take me to see 3:10 to Yuma. Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, it sounded good to me already. Russell Crowe was one of the most charming outlaws I've seen since Emilio Estevez in Young Guns. The actions scenes were great, very sit on the edge of your seat. The heroism that Christian Bale showed in going after this outlaw just to prove to his son he wasn't a useless old man was a lesson we could all learn from....

I'm not usually that into Westerns, but "3:10 to Yuma" got my attention because of the great cast. I don't usually see movie just for casting, either, but Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are both guys that are really worth watching. I knew this was a remake, but I had never seen the earlier film, so I was just wanting to see if these two would bounce off each other in an interesting way. Did they ever! I will admit to a bit of prejudice where Bale is concerned (he's a hottie!) but Russell steals the show. His character is such a bad guy the bad guys are afraid of him, but he's just so damn like-able and charming that's easy to forget. Through most of the film he's trying to get the "good" guys turn bad and let him go. He knows just how to tempt them, he reads people so well. He really works his magic on the character of Bale's son. That kid is such an easy mark, and you can see him come to idolize the smooth talking bad man. This is, of course, very irritating to......

GeorgeChabot says "Dark Western Story: 3:10 to Yuma - the original" about 3:10 to Yuma

3:10 to Yuma (1957)

I’m a classic movie fan who learned to like movies watching Bill Kennedy on Detroit TV. Bill was a retired actor and one of the early commentators who could give you background and lore on the picture during the breaks. His material was often fascinating and always informative. I’m sure many of the current commentators got their start listening to Bill or another like him. This is the original 3:10 to Yuma with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin as the bad guy and good guy, respectively.

A cattleman (Van Heflin), witnesses a robbery where a stage driver was killed then the gang vamooses. Heflin is going broke and he was heading into Bisbee to ask for a loan to buy water rights to get his cattle through the drought. So he continues into town after the robbery and runs into gang leader Glenn Ford, whom he saw robbing the stage. He distracts Ford while the sheriff gets the drop on him. Now that they have him, what do they do with him? They know the gang will...
...

My wife and I rented this movie a couple of weeks ago and all I can say is if you like movies that draw you into them, then you have watch this movie!!! It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I'm not a huge Russel Crow fan, but Russel Crow delivers an outstanding performance in 3:10 to Uma. He portrays a real likable out law that in the end you are not sure if you are on his side or the good guys side. I can't say it enought you need to see this movie!!!...

The notorious cowboy outlaw Bill Wade (Russell Crowe) has been captured and it's up to a ragtag team to escort him a nearby city to get him on the prison train to Yuma. Reluctant hero Dan Evans (Christian Bale) leads this unlikely and unlucky group while they try to slip past Wade's gang, war hungry Apache Indians, and other dangerous foes.

All and all, 3:10 to Yuma was a solid action flick set in the wild old west. The movie is smartly written and very well acted by the principle and the ensemble crew (including Peter Fonda, Alan Tudyk, and Luke Wilson). In addition to all the expected gunfighting and horse chases, there's a good story line with Evan's character (a down on his luck homesteader and family man) and his son William (who resents his father and has wide eyed respect for Wade and his outlaw lifestyle). Wade's character also has a lot of depth which comes out as the movie progresses.

One thing that I appreciated very much was the realism of the film. All shooting was......

cookiecandycake says "One of the best westerns made in the past 10 years" about 3:10 to Yuma

3:10 to Yuma is by far one of the best westerns I have seen in the past 10 years. It is the story of a farmer who has had a rough time making ends meet while having the challenge of being respected by his wife and son. He finds himself given a chance to make things right by enlisting within a group of men who have been hired on to escort a well known stage coach robber to the 3:10 train to Yuma. As the story progresses, the farmer's story is laid out slowly and you get a chance to find out what he is really like and who is truly is, as well as getting to know more about the robber he is escorting, as they go through a series of tough situations that are dangerous to them all...to say the least. It is a good story without being too campy, and kept my attention well throughout the movie....

The acting was superb. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe show why they, in my opinion, are two of the most skilled motion picture actors today. The chemistry between them was great and hopefully Hollywood has the sense to pair them in future movies. The story and action kept the viewer interested with wall to wall twists, though the ending was quite far fetched. It is a must have dvd in any movie lovers collection....

I enjoyed the storyline but the movies violence was a little too much for me. Not graphic but a lot of killing!...

I watched this movie yesterday and I was just awed by how good this was that I had to watch this again. Russel Crowe was wonderful and so was his co star. the ending was just incredible. I am usually not a western movie watcher but this will be one that I purchase and put on my shelf. It didnt have to much love story or to much vilonce that it took away from the mivie. It kept me on the edge of my seat anticipating the ending. I can not recommend this to highly because here lately it is the best i have seen. I just wish that I would of seen it on the big screen. This is a must to view and buy for a collection....

I have such a wide range of tastes in movies that it gets to be pretty hit or miss when picking out movies. This was originally recommended to me by someone whose taste in movies I'm not so sure about, but after hearing so many great things about it I went ahead and gave in! It was well worth it! This movie kept you on the edge of your seat a good bit and the plot was actually believable! The actors were great in their respective parts and the filming was excellent as well! I cannot wait to go out and buy this for my own DVD collection!! Another thing I enjoyed about it is that nowadays it is so hard to find a good action movie where every other word is not a curse word, but this movie did a good job at keeping the language to a minimum!...
