poetess says "An easy, tasty way to get Omega 3's for your kids" about Nordic Naturals Dha Junior - Strawberry 180 Capsules

My children love these. We've tried other sources of DHA and Omega 3's and they haven't cared for any of them. These are always a hit. They taste good and the little capsules are fun (similar to vitamin e capsules). I've tried them myself and they really do taste clean and not fishy, with real fruit flavor (I believe it is natural flavor).

We don't eat enough fish or flax or olive oil to be sure of getting all of these important nutrients, and they're so important for brain function in kids. There are studies that also link Omega 3 deficits with learning and attention problems in kids, which is another good reason to supplement. These are a safe, tasty, fun way to do that.

The only down side is the cost. These aren't that expensive if you have one child, but when you're doling them out for 3 kids they can get spendy....

poetess says "A fabulous resource for a variety of readers" about Mother Earth News

Mother Earth News is one of those magazines that's been around for decades that many people have still never heard of. It's worth a look, though. It is packed with information that will interest farmers, environmentalists, do it yourself fans and homeowners just looking to save money, among others.

The magazine is well known for teaching everyday people how to live off the land, build straw bale houses, construct alternative energy products, farm in new ways and similar pursuits, but it has so many articles on so many subjects in every issue that it's likely to interest people who have never set foot near a farm or forest.

Recent articles that come to mind are: how to build a cheap solar powered outdoor hot tub, the nutritional benefits of free range eggs, the pros and cons of wind farms, how a couple slowly built their dream house in the woods over a period of years with no debt, one family's homeschooling life, inexpensive ways to add solar power to your home and the case against the......

poetess says "My daughter's favorite magazine" about Highlights for Children Magazine

My 9 year loves Highlights magazine! She joined an online survey group for kids in order to earn a free 6 month subscription, and she likes it so much I purchased almost a hundred back issues off ebay as a gift for her last year.

The magazines have jokes, information, material written by other children, games and challenges, and lots more. Highlights has been around for decades and it's easy to see why. Parents and teachers like it because it gets kids reading and learning, and kids like it because it's just plain fun.
...

poetess says "Kind of creepy, but a novel idea" about Listerine Instant Dissolving Whitening Strips Clean Mint 56 Each

I received a box of samples of these and was excited to try them. I'm glad I didn't spend money on them, since I haven't even bothered to use the rest of the box. The strips are a bit tricky to put on. You need to arrange them with a slit pointing a certain way to have the right portion against your teeth. Then they can get stuck to the wrong part or not stick. They have a weird taste that is supposed to be fresh and minty but was just off to me. They start to dissolve as soon as you put them on and then you slowly have this thick coating of stuff melting off your teeth as you go about your business.

These will not completely dissolve, despite their claims. I always needed to brush the rest off, and it was a creepy feeling until I did. They did whiten my teeth, but so have other products like Crest Whitestrips. Those certainly aren't perfect either, but these next time I spend my money on whitening strips I'll probably go back to Crest.

I also am not sure I like the idea......

poetess says "A comfortable way to keep baby close and hands free" about Kangaroo Korner Fleece Pouch

I've had 2 Kangaroo Korner Fleece Pouches for about 4 years now and am using them on my second son. I love these pouches and so do my babies! They are soft and easy to use, and I can pop a fussy baby in and then go on with my life and my movement turns them happy and lulls them to sleep. I've had women run after me in stores to ask where I got mine, and I always enthusiastically recommend Kangaroo Korner.

The owner is a WAHM and she employs other WAHM's, so the money supports other mothers. The craftsmanship is excellent and the pouches are just fun. I have one in dark blue and another in leopard print for when I'm feeling spunkier!

These are ordered to fit your size and come with 3 snap settings to allow for some adjustments. One of the only drawbacks is that your spouse or other caretakers won't necessarily be able to use yours if they are very different in size from you. It's a small drawback though and despite our VAST differences in size my husband wore mine to carry the baby......
