phantom92626 says "Best sub $200 point-and-shoot camera hands down." about Canon - PowerShot SD800 IS / IXUS 850 IS Digital Camera

I got this camera (Canon SD800 IS) on sale for just about $200 a year ago. It was the best point-and-shoot camera I've ever own. This camera takes pictures just as good as my $1500 DSLR Canon. About the only complain I have is the limited zoom (3x). But other than that, this camera has exceed all my expectations. The pictures come out clear and crisp. Even the LCD images look nice. It takes great pictures whether it's indoor or outdoor. The flash is adaquate for almost all occasions (except maybe when you're like 30 feet away with little or no light). This camera focuses fairly quick. I like the green focus square as well. It's light yet has a solid build feeling to it. The battery last a long time and can be charged in less than 2 hours (when empty). Red-eyed reduction works great. The many shoot-modes work as designed. I took many great pictures of my daughter's basketball games. Sometime, it even took better pictures than my $1500 DSLR. Honestly, I...
...

phantom92626 says "Why pay 200 or even 300 more for other GPS?" about Magellan - Maestro 4040 GPS Receiver

I paid about $100 for a refurbished of this unit 6 months ago. I owned several GPS system in the past including a $900 Garmin 8xx series as well as a Mio C310x. This Magellan simply blew away all of them. The Mio is the worst of them all. It got me lost so many times it's not even funny. The Garmin fair much better if not for the price. This unit is easy to set up and easy to use. It has features such as TTS and 4.3" screen that other more expensive units have for a very a low price. I like the user interface of this unit most. Cold start is on par with other unit and hot start is very very fast. The TTS feature actually is very good with street names, much better than I'd expected. As far as drawbacks, it does have a few. The first one being outdated maps. If the cost of upgrading maps was less than $50, I would be happy to pay for it, instead it was more like $80 the last time I check. Second, the windshield mount is rather difficult to mount. But once it's...
...

phantom92626 says "Best all around DSLR for the price" about Canon - EOS 350D/Rebel XT SLR Digital Camera

I have always own either Canon or Nikon SLR in the past. Recently, however, I ventured into the DSLR world and I'm now wondering why did I wait too long. I love it absolutely. Take as many pictures as you like and you can see the result immediately. I have a couple of Canon lens from previous cameras and they fit perfectly with my new Canon DSLR. The focus is fast, accurate, and silent. My camera can take 3.5 frames per second which is more than most people will ever need. I consider myself a more advance amature photographer and this camera has all the features I would ever want or need. Before I buy this camera, I actually rented a comparable Nikon DSLR for 2 weeks just to see what one I prefer. To me, the Nikon has a "better" built quality to its cameras but it doesn't have as many features as the Canon. But you pay for that built quality with weight. Overall, I'm very happy with my Canon Rebel. Only drawback is the short battery life. That can be fixed with...
...

phantom92626 says "Good bike for a beginner with a low budget" about Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic - 2007 Motorcycle

I bought a used Yamaha V-Star Classic 650 about 9 years ago. I still have the bike but don't ride it that much anymore. I started to ride about 12 years ago on a Yamaha Virago. When I moved up to the V-Star, I notice a big different in freeway rides. The bike was really stable at speed above 80 mph, unlike my Virago. Within a year, I put on like 15,000 miles on the bike. About the only thing I have to maintain was oil changes, air filter, 1 set of spark plugs, and 1 air filter. Always start up on 1st tried, even on cold mornings. I installed a new set of Bub pipes and let me tell ya, it sounds so much better than stock pipes. I could have swear it feels like I gained another 3 to 5 horse powers too. With all that being said, the bike does have a few draw back though. First, it's way under power. There're times when I couldn't accelerate fast enough to keep myself in the clear. And when you tried to hug the road a little too much, it would rub on either side of...
...

phantom92626 says "Best bang for your bucks" about Lenovo Y430

I bought the Lenovo Y430 with Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz, 3GB Ram, 250 GB disk space, and the usual features that come with other laptop. I paid $600 plus tax + free shipping at TigerDirect.com. It has a neat face recognition feature that doesn't work really well. Half of the time it doesn't recognize my face, so much for high tech stuffs eh? Other than that, it has been a great laptop. It starts up quickly, and shut down in a timely matter. However, while it's shutting down, if you close the monitor, the shut down process will be halted. So I have to let it shut down completely before I can put it away. There suppose to be a subwoofer built in, but you can hardly notice it. Another draw back to this laptop is the location and the sensitivity of the mouse pad. It's really easy to move the cursor while you're typing anything. It can drive you crazy sometime. I wish Lenovo would change that. I highly recommend you partition the disk drive to save yourself some headache later...
...
