parkerv says "Chad is the Man! Altell is Fantastic!" about Alltel

I have been a customer with a few different companies when it comes to cell phones. My favorite is Altell. I have always had helpful service from the sales reps and the technical support. The prices are reasonable and the rebates are great--it takes forever to get them, but they are worth the wait. The packages on minutes, texting and Internet are a good value for the service provided. I love the MyCircle. I have relatives all over the country and I have added their phone numbers to MyCircle to make calling even more reasonable. I've been a customer with Altell for over 4 years and I've never had a dropped call. I can't say the same for some other service providers. I don't think I'll be changing wireless providers anytime soon!
...

parkerv says "Great Workout for those concerned about their health" about Biggest Loser Workout DVD, Season One

My dad is an avid "Biggest Loser" fan. He is even interested in participating in the show if he could--I might be tempted to join him. As a testament to his love for the show, he purchased the workout tape to help him get in shape at home. My dad is health conscious and loves to workout, but a thyroid condition that he got while he served in Desert Storm/Shield, has caused him to gain weight. He is determined to lose it. His first experience with the tape makes me chuckle. He put the tape in and was excited to get to workout with the trainers from the show. He started with the warm-up and was out of breath before the first 5 minutes was up--he didn't even finish the warm-up. He spent the rest of the time sitting and watching the rest of the tape. Don't be worried, he can complete the whole workout now and it's making a difference. He can run up three or four flights of stairs without being winded. If you don't think that's a great accomplishment, I dare you...
...

parkerv says "A great way for students to unwind." about Free Rice

I am currently a teacher that insists that my classes mutli-task. We are moving at different paces in my class and once the general part of the lesson is complete students may be doing many different things. In my research for another project, I stumbled across a teacher that used this site as work for early finishers. It has a three-fold reward. The students can feel like they are playing a game, the website is compeletely educational and the students are unwittingly doing something good for someone else. How can that be a bad thing?!? Students will compete to see who can get the most consectutive grains of rice. It's something fun and educational for the students. The only down side is that for some of the categories the game is over too soon. Some categories only have one or two levels and it's very easy to finish them and get bored. Other than that it is a great site and I love it.
...

parkerv says "Netspend-Easy way to have a credit card w/o having a credit card" about Account Now - Netspend

In this day and age it's hard to find someone who hasn't experienced credit challenges of one sort or another--I'm no different. In college, I allowed the words "charge it" to get me in more trouble than Wilma and Betty ever did. Now that I'm older and wiser, I've let go of my need to charge goods and services, but recognize the need and convenience that charging items provides. The perfect solution kind of popped up on my computer. An add for a Netspend account. It's great. It's a pre-paid service. As with any pre-paid card there are fees attached, but if you counted up the fees associated with having a regular credit card, it comes out about the same. There is $4 reload fee unless you direct deposit to the account--yes, the account has a routing number for direct deposits! You have the option of paying a monthly service fee or a per use fee. The monthly fee is $10. The per use fee is $1 on credit transactions and $2 on debit transactions requiring the PIN. I use...
...

parkerv says "Updated Phone is Better than the Oringinal" about Motorola MOTO Q 9c Smartphone

I recently went through a cell phone mini-emergency. I came home one night and plugged in my MOTOQ to charge. As an afterthought I decided to use it to get on the Internet to look up information on a house I was interested in buying. Lo and behold, the phone wouldn't respond to any commands. I tried to plug it back into the charger--nothing. I tried to remove the battery and put it back in--even worse, I got a black screen telling me to plug in the USB cord (what is that about). So I take my crazy, non-working phone to the local Altell retail location and explain my dilemma. The sales rep tells me he can reboot the phone, but it will erase my entire address book and any saved data. I reluctantly agree (I never finished syncing my phone and my computer). He reboots the phone not once, but twice and still no working phone. So finally, I say that's it let's just upgrade. I purchased a new Motorola Q9c. I like it. It is similar to original in its general functions. ...
...

parkerv says "I never thought diets would work for me!" about South Beach Diet

I've always been thick, big-boned, full-figured, or whatever name you want to call it to soften the blow. I had decided that I was going to be big forever and was in the process of just accepting that there was nothing I could do about it. I wasn't going to "diet" because that meant that I would starve, and I'm not a nice person when I'm hungry. I was starting to exercise, but having asthma means that if I overdo it with the cardio, my chest would burn and I couldn't breathe. I was great at weightlifting, but that didn't do anything but start to bulk me up. I had given up. But then I learned that I was pregnant and started gaining weight with the pregnancy and stopped weighlifting. I started at about 220 lbs. Then creeped up to 240, then 260, 275, and finally when I had my last weigh in I weighed 301 lbs. I thought to myself this is ridiculous, I've gained 80 lbs in 9 months. I knew that this was a problem. I had almost failed my glucose testing during my pregnancy......

parkerv says "Wal-Mart is more than a department store!" about Wal-Mart Ground Beef

Most people look at you crazy when you tell them that you do your grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. I know, many years ago, when I went to my first "super" store, I thought it was ridiculous to sell grocery items with other non-grocery items. However, since that time, I've become a fan of shopping at Wal-Mart for my food items. First of all it is less expensive for me than shopping in a standard grocery store. Especially since they have a price match program where they will match any competitor's sale price if you bring in the sale paper. The meats that I've purchased over the past couple of years have been good quality meats. I have found that Wal-Mart does not re-pack old meat (or at least I've not come across any). If you don't know what that is, let me tell you. Some meat counters will take packaged ground beef that has been out and hasn't sold and re-pack it. They open the old pack and conceal the old meat inside some fresh ground meat and then repack it. When the customer......

parkerv says "GEICO's gekko gets a good grade from me!" about Geico

As a 30 year old female, I've been insured with GEICO in one way or another for almost 15 years. My parents have all of their vehicles insured with GEICO; and, as a result, when I began driving, I was added to the GEICO policy. My good grades in high school earned my parents a discount on their insurance. GEICO has been there for my family through all of the car tragedies we've experienced. In 1999, my dad was hit by another motorist and his car was totalled. In less than 2 days he had a rental car and in less than 2 weeks had received his check and was driving a new car. When my car was hit by a motorist in 2004 and totalled, I also recieved a rental in less than 2 days. And although it was the middle of the Christmas holidays, I had recieved my settlement and was driving a new car by the first week of the new year (2005). Then (I know if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all), the car I'd purchased in 2005 was stolen in mid-April of 2007. Once again,......

parkerv says "Solid stepping stone for my parents as they went back to school" about St.Leo College

While I have not attended St. Leo College, both of my parents are proud graduates from this institution of higher learning. Both of my parents are veterans from the United States Air Force. When my father retired and my mother took an "early out", they felt it was time to go back to school and finish the education they had skipped by entering the military at such a young age. Using funds from the GI Bill, my father enrolled in 1994 and graduated in 1997. My mother, also used funds from the GI Bill and enrolled in 2002 and graduated in 2006. They were able to take classes online and in the classroom. Classes were scheduled around their work day, so they could continue to support their family and go tos school at the same time. Since that time my father has completed his master's degree and my mother will finish her master's degree this summer. They are working in careers that they love and have made gains in their careers at a much faster pace than most employees. My......
