palinkasx6 says "Great Vacation" about Hickory Run State Park

As a child, I was raised every summer in the woods. My parents were big campers and we would go camping every summer for a week. When we weren't camping, my dad would take me out in the woods walking, fishing, hiking or just spending some time together.

My favorite camp site was and still is Hickory Run State Park. This was the place we went every summer to relax and take a vacation. Most of the kids in my classes in school went to amusement parks, relatives houses, to another state or country, but not us, we went camping. Almost every year, I was allowed to take a friend too. This was great. We would go collect kindling wood for the fire, go exploring, go play at the park or just hang around the campsite with my parents. I think this was the best vacation ever. Good family time and it was so relaxing. Hickory Run has so much to offer to new and returning campers. I know that this sounds funny for a state park because most mental pictures of a state park are of trees, bugs and deer. With......

palinkasx6 says "Biter Biscuits? Are our children animals?" about Gerber Biter Biscuits

Biter Biscuits-the good and the bad.

What is good about these biscuits? Biter Biscuits are great for little hands. The biscuit (or cookie as I like to call it) is contoured to fit the little hands of toddlers. I say toddlers, because I don't really like to give these cookies until the infant is moving around, a lot. They have Gerber engraved in the side and it also has little waves along with it. These cookies are meant for toddlers that are teething to help break through those little monster teeth and to strengthen the gums. I don't think my son needed them for this reason, because without teeth he could bite them in half. My daughter, on the other hand, never had this problem. I think this was and is a once in a lifetime thing. If your child does bite through them, beware! They could possibly choke. These cookies are also very sweet. They do not contain a lot of sugar, but they have a very sweet flavor that the toddler will LOVE.

What is bad about these biscuits? Biter Biscuits are a great......

palinkasx6 says "Poor Weiner Dog" about The Hallo-Weiner

The Hallo-Wiener by Dav Pilkey is a great book for young and old. My 4 year old daughter absolutely loves this book. This is yet another great Scholastic reader purchase.

The Hallo-Wiener is about a dog named Oscar. In this story, Oscar is a dachshund and is ridiculed by his friends for having such an odd shape and size. His friends always called him names and made him feel horrible. Poor Oscar went around being known as "Wiener Dog!" for a very long time and this made him very sad. As Halloween approached, Oscar wanted to be something great; something that his friends wouldn't laugh at him for. Unfortunately, his mother bought her "little Vienna sausage" a hideous costume-A hot dog roll!

When Oscar's friends saw him that night, they laughed and laughed and then left him behind to go trick-or-treating. Oscar was very sad about this and by the time he reached each house, they were all out of candy. As the night was ending...trouble stirred up and his friends found out that Oscar was more than......

palinkasx6 says "Go Tonka Joe!" about Meet Tonka Joe

Tonka Joe is a timeless character for boys from age 2-8. My son loves these Tonka Joe books still, after receiving his first one at 2 years old.

In Meet Tonka Joe, you learn how Tonka Joe helps the town of Minnetonka with his heavy duty vehicles. Along with Tonka Joe, you are introduced to his niece and nephew, JJ and Stevie.

Tonka Joe books are very colorful and offer a new array of construction vehicles for your little boys and girls to fall in love with. There is the Pulverizer, the Flame Racer, the Blizzard Rig, the Fire Walker, and the Hazard Handler. Each page has about one paragraph, lots of colorful pictures and a great story. In the end, Joe even has time to stop and have a picnic with JJ and Stevie. Go Tonka Joe!...

palinkasx6 says "Looks Can be Deceiving!" about Tracy's Mess

Another great book bought from the Scholastic book flyer is "Tracy's Mess" by Ellise Petersen. When I bought this book, I was intrigued by the front cover. It is so vibrant with color and mess. I just knew my 5yr old would love reading about someone else's mess, besides her own.

In Tracy's Mess you meet a curly, red haired little girl named Tracy. She is so pretty, and well kept you would not believe that anything in her life could be a mess. Then you get a look at her room. Her room is filled with anything and everything that should and shouldn't be there. You might find a kitten, a jelly sandwich, dirt, toys, and much, much more. Just as you get a great picture of what Tracy's room really looks like, Tracy's mom tells her to Clean It Up.

In Tracy's imaginative mind, she finds the perfect place for all of her stuff; under her bed. After finding out that this is not the best place for her things to be, she attempts to clean it again. She now has a wonderfully clean room and a very full......

palinkasx6 says "Helps in a difficult situation" about Schick Intuition Plus Razor

The Schick Intuition Razor is a spectacular product. I enjoy using it and I really like the results.

What is it? The Schick Intuition Razor is a revolutionary razor that has soap and razor in one convenient product. It also comes in a Plus version, which has extra moisturizers to help prevent nicks and bumps.

How does it work? The razor has 3 blades, soap that lathers on contact and makes a smooth shaving experience.

Cost? On average, the Schick Intuition Razor is under $10 for the razor that comes with one cartridge. Refills cost approximately $10 for a 3 pack.

I have found that the Schick Intuition Razor has been a great purchase for me because I have medical issues that make it difficult for me to bend and stand for long periods of time. With this razor, I can reach the places I need to reach with ease and shave in a quicker amount of time than I ever have before. Even though the Schick Intuition Razor is a bit on the expensive side, for me, it is well worth the money. I have also...
...

palinkasx6 says "Save your money!" about Parent's Choice Gentle Formula

Let's compare: Enfamil GentleEase $26, Parent's Choice Gentle $14.88 You decide which is easier on your budget. My son is the king of colic. He was exclusively breastfed for a little over 2 months. It got to the point that I was eating practically nothing just to keep his digestive system happy. That just wasn't working for anyone. I turned to friend that also had a fussy baby and asked her what she fed her child. She told me Enfamil GentleEase. I did a little research and found that Parent's Choice had an equivalent to Enfamil. At the time, we were using Nestle GoodStart and doing ok; so I accessed the Parent's Choice website. Lucky for me, the website offers samples of a good size to try out. I sent away for a sample. After trying just a couple of bottles of Parent's Choice, my son was a much happier baby. It was then that I decided to switch. We now buy 2 cans of powdered formula a week. The Gentle also comes in liquid form, if you find that more convenient....

palinkasx6 says "No rejection here!" about The First Years Soothie Baby Bottle

When I was looking for a bottle for my breastfed baby, a friend suggested the Soothie bottle. I had already tried the Avent bottles for my son, and he didn't like them. I was willing to try anything. I was aware of the Soothie pacifiers, but didn't know they sold a bottle with a similar nipple. I found the Soothie bottle at Walmart, which is very convenient for my family. I bought a 6 oz bottle with the stage 1 nipple to give it a try. Can I just say at how ecstatic I was when my son actually took this bottle and didn't have trouble with it? It was a Godsend for us. As he grew, I bought the next size bottle (9oz) and gave it a try. This size bottle wasn't such a huge hit with us. With the 9oz bottle, you get a stage 2 nipple which has a larger hole. My son made a mess with the stage 2 nipple. He still drank well with it, but since he has such a strong suck, he would take in too much and dribble out the rest. I have resorted to using the stage 1 nipple on the 9oz bottle and haven't looked......

palinkasx6 says "This product is great for the SAHM who is breastfeeding." about Avent Isis Manual Breast Pump

Being a mom of 4, I don't have a lot of time for fussing with a product. The Avent Isis breast pump is a very simple and effective breast pump to use. Assembly of this pump is also very simple. Admittedly, I have never used a different breast pump other than the Avent, although I never saw a need for a different pump either. The Avent provided everything I need for myself and my family. It allowed me to use it at home, as well as away from home. It is very compact and it fits in a diaper bag easily. I never had any problems at all with this pump, and I used it both with bags and bottles. I would highly recommend this pump for both stay at home moms as well as working moms. Since it is a hand pump, it doesn't make any noise which offers the opportunity to be discreet at work.
...
