onyx95 says "Pre-Stephanie Plum with similar characters." about Janet Evanovich - The Rocky Road to Romance

After an unexpected accident with the traffic reporter on WZZZ, operations manager Steve Crow was desperate for a fill in reporter. Desperate enough to give the kooky dog lady Daisy Adams a try behind the wheel. Even after a terrible first broadcast, Daisy was sent o a breaking news story and ended up being the story. Having a hand, or more like a fender, involved in the capture of the bad guy, the threat to Daisy’s life seemed to hit Steve hard. His overwhelming feeling of protectiveness leading him to hire a bodyguard (Elsie Hawkins). Something about Daisy also prompted Steve to get a dog (Bob), buy an SUV and a house - good thing he’s rich. Now if she would just slow down and stay out of trouble maybe he would be able to sleep nights.

Another pre-Plum re-release. Got a kick out of the first Bob the dog. Also liked the character of Elsie Hawkins, you can really see the beginnings of the character of Grandma Mazur. Lots of thing happen to and around Daisy, I liked...
...

onyx95 says "A feel good story for the holiday season" about Debbie Macomber - Shirley, Goodness and Mercy

Frustrated with the way his life had turned out, Greg Bennett wondered the streets of San Francisco hoping to find a bank that would give him a loan. His third marriage was almost over, he was estranged from his only family, his business was about to fall apart before his eyes and it was Christmas. Low on hope for a happy season, he entered a church and prayed for the first time in a very long time. Hearing this man, making this plea to God, the prayer ambassador Archangel Gabriel was surprised and soon became concerned as to how to actually help him. The arrival of Angels Shirley, Goodness and Mercy may be the perfect way to handle this near impossible task and get the three most unpredictable angels out and allow them another opportunity to return to earth.

Shirley said “But remember we’re angels, not saints.”, that describes how they felt about taking on Greg and his life. With a whole bunch of miracles or coincides to help, could a change be possible for the man they describe as...
...

onyx95 says "the perfect addition to any computer." about Logitech V220 Optical Wireless Notebook Mouse

Small, compact and affordable all rolled up into one product. This little mouse has changed the way I use my computers. All of them. If a computer has a USB port (like the public Library), I use my little Logitech. The laser optics never fails, the roller works great and the batteries last a surprisingly long time for a single AA.

I received this as a gift and find that it is one of my favorite gifts. I use it daily (like right now) every time I am on the computer you can bet that I have it. It is small enough to fit in a side pocket of my computer bag and the handy switch (on the back that automatically turns on and off when you put the USB plug into its handy slot) makes sure that I remember to turn it off to conserve the battery.

It has never failed me, it works - it just does on several types of surfaces. You don't have to have a mouse mat, or even a completely flat surface. I sometimes use it on my leg or the couch cushion. I have had this for about...
...

onyx95 says "Intersting take on a current problem" about Robina Williams - Gaea

Worrying over the health and happiness of all the animals of earth, the goddess Gaea requests the Almighty Father, God of All, to allow her to teach mankind a lesson for mot taking care of her earth and all of the Lords creatures. By her side during this request is Quant, a seraph (an angel of the highest rank in the traditional Christian hierarchy) that likes to spend time on earth in the shape of a house cat. When God reminds Gaea that he is the only one that will hand out punishment and vengeance, Gaea takes the chance to offer a warning to mankind with the help of a family and friends. Always overseeing her actions is Quant with his optimism for the humans to learn, adapt and save the planet earth.

What a really strange mix. Religious God, Greek mythology, Leonardo Di Vinci, and dragons all have a place in this book. With such a wide variety of characters from so many different belief patterns, it is sometimes difficult to keep all the characters straight (between the gods, goddesses,...
...

onyx95 says "Interesting new product, glad to try it." about Bounce Dryer Bar

I was very excited to be one of the lucky members that got to try this new product in my home for a simple viewpoints review. I also have to admit to being a little concerned with the having to apply the sticky backed holder to the drum of the dryer. The worry of it staying put for 2 months of drying and also the worry that if it is made to stay put through all the drying, will it ever come off without damaging my dryer drum. So far it has been able to stay put in the dryer and shows no signs of coming off without some effort.

The scent of the dryer bar was not overwhelming, in fact it is so subtle that I can't even say I know what it smells like. It doesn't seem to leave any hint of a scent on the clothing after coming out of the dryer either. In fact I believe the only scent is that of my laundry detergent. As for the static control, it seems to do a good job with that. I will have to continue use (now that the winter months are almost here). I have had no problem with...
...

onyx95 says "An interesting re-write of the beloved classic." about Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith - Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Deluxe Heirloom Edition

As what is being called a quirky classic, this has Miss Elizabeth Bennett, her family, Mr. Darcy and other characters that we know from the original Pride and Prejudice, but it is strange, different and even funny. I spent most of the book trying to remember the original story and then compare it to what was happening at the time regardless of the zombies. Had a difficult time getting in to it, it didn’t hold my attention as well as I expected it to. While it was funny, it also seemed a bit disjointed, maybe because of the addition of the ‘unmentionables’ or zombies. The flow seemed to stutter every once in a while which distracted me with the wording of it all. While it is a great concept and a funny addition to any reading list, it was not something I would ever re-read. I am a fan of the original Miss Bennett and Mr. Darcy romance and found this to be either to similar or to different - at differing times of the story. I was hoping for a much more “happy medium”...
...

onyx95 says "Fabulous coming of age type story - Catching Crazy" about Jacob Cummer - Catching Crazy

What started out as a bad day for 12 year old Thurman just kept getting worse. Being the class clown had already helped him get through his parents divorce, now maybe comedy could get him through forgetting to put on deodorant and smelling as bad as his dog. Now that very same dog is missing and Thurman realizes that there are only a few things he needs to make him feel normal again. Finding his dog, finding out if his dad really loves him and getting a new glove before baseball season starts. While looking for Smelly (the dog) he comes across his crazy neighbor Harlan. Harlan offers him a job. Maybe a job would help him accomplish the easiest task on his list, make money and buy his own glove. In the course of his new job, Thurman helps Harlan by answering the big questions of life.

What a strange bond to create for this young boy. This was a very good, sentimental journey for Thurman packed full of symbolism and hidden meanings. Adolescence dealing with divorce, lose and fitting-in leaves...
...

onyx95 says "Interesting collection of fiction and non-fiction stories" about A Pig in the Rumble Seat and other short stories

This book is a compilation of 24 short stories that range from 4 - 27 pages. The story topics are almost as wide ranged as the page numbers, it includes brief glimpses of the life of the author. Some stories are based on days of his youth during the 1930’s, some include his years working in his chosen field of chemical engineering, working on rocketry propulsions. There are some fantasy or science fiction stories to add to the collection as well as a segment of poetry.

With the average length of each story only 12 pages, this book is quick, easy and fun to read. I have even spent some time reading some of the stories aloud to my family and have suggested a few more. I found a couple of the stories to be overly influenced by technical information (which to some it would be very informative and interesting), but for me I much preferred the fiction and some of the youth memories. The added influence and knowledge of rocket design gives Mr. Hujsak a very special take on...

...

London, 1852

Three seasons and still the only prospect of marriage for Poppy Hathaway was a man (Mr. Michael Bayning)who had still not told his father that he wanted to court her. The love letters between the two of them promised marriage, but shortly after being kissed by Mr. Harry Rutledge, the elusive owner of the Rutledge hotel, she was informed that there was no way Michael’s father would ever consent to their being wed. Knowing what he wanted and then getting it was a regular task for Harry and this would be no different. There was something about Poppy, who had stumbled upon one of his secret passageways and then had shown interest in his private collection. He had to have her as his wife, no matter how he had to get her.

onyx95 says "An interesting introduction to a spiritual way of living" about Robin Marvel - Awakening Consciousness: A Girl's Guide!

This is an interactive introduction into metaphysical phenomena (study of the nature of being) . This workbook is geared for young girls. While the workbook gives only a preliminary look at spiritual and universal awareness, it does open doors to thoughts and experiences that some kids may not be exposed to any other way. This kind of awareness can help in self confidences, self appreciations, self awareness and even gives young girls the chance to be happy and peaceful with themselves. The workbook includes fun physical and artistic exercises, some are set up to be done by themselves while others should be done with other girls whether they are friends or family. These exercises will help the girls understand new concepts and gives them different ways of looking at themselves and the world around them.

Still grieving from the death of her husband, Aurora (Roe) Teagarden was taken a little by surprise with the arrival of Robin Crusoe, her former neighbor and a man she had once dated. Knowing that he had written a book based on the strange murders that had happened in her hometown several years ago didn‘t help, and now the tv movie was about to be filmed in the middle of downtown Lawrencetown. Everyone seemed to be excited about the movie industry being in town, except Roe. She knew that a lot of the story was based on her and her involvement in finding the bodies. During the course of filming, her own stepson (Barrett) is the one who stumbles upon a body, that of the main actress who was to play the part of Roe herself. After so many murders happening around her, surely this one would have nothing to do with her, until it does.

Book 7 …..

Being raised by a pack of werewolves gave Mercedes (Mercy) Thompson a certain perspective into their world. Living across the street from one of the top alphas (Adam Hauptman) left Mercy with a constant reminder of what she was, a coyote, a shape shifter, a skin walker that knew of no one else like herself. Having a gremlin for a friend (Zee), a vampire that she kind of trusted (Stephan Uccello), and all of Adam’s pack around her all the time, and then a boy named Mac (a werewolf that had escaped from some sort of testing facility) showed up in her shop looking for work and he needed help. Getting some of the details left Adam injured and Mercy unable to trust his pack, so taking things into her own hands, she enlisted the top alpha of North America (Bran Cornick) and his pack.

Cute, fun and fast paced. Doug never knew what Rosie would say or do next, what a fun break from the normal wedding. Going over the top with the complications, the planner was frantic, the hostess was neurotic, most of the guests were lost while Doug and Rosie were putting obvious assumptions to the test. I really liked both of these characters, he’s making some...
...

onyx95 says "Predictable, quick and lots of characters to remember" about Christina Dodd - Storm of Visions

Knowing that she is suppose to be some great psychic and that she is expected to become part of the ‘Chosen Ones’ didn’t mean that Jacqueline Vargha had to like it. She had had enough of (her mother) Zusanes control, so she ran away from it until Zusane sent her top body guard (Caleb D’Angelo) to bring her back. Loving Jacqueline had not been easy for Caleb. First his loyalty to Zusane was all that stopped him. Now going back to her, loving her the way he wanted to would have to be on mutual terms. Meeting the newest of the ‘Chosen Ones’ and finding out that they were in danger would only complicate the relationship, if there was one at all.

Book 1 ….. All about the set up. As a romance this one fell a little short, mostly straight to it, down and dirty sex, even though it was called love making . The relationship had already started, I didn’t feel the connection to the love affair, even with the memory flashbacks - is was a pre-existing condition. There...
...

onyx95 says "A quick look, a fun addition to the Lords of the Underworlds" about Gena Showalter - The Darkest Prison

Spending some much time trying to escape his prison, the Titan God of Strength Atlas was prepared to do anything, even seducing several of his jailors, including the Greek Goddess of Strength, Nike. After the Titans were freed and in turned imprisoned the Greek Gods, Titan found his mind returning to the one Goddess that had marked him with her own name, as punishment for seducing others as well as herself. Now with the hopes of getting her out of his thoughts for good, he turned her own action on her, he marked her with his name.

A mini - story in between the Lords of the Underworld, gives a little more insight into Cronus and his world. The banter between Atlas and Nike is great, the additional information about Sienna is fabulous and gives hope for Paris’s (Keeper of Promiscuity) story to be told after all. As with most of the Lords (even though this isn‘t about one of the Lords), this one got me caught up in the story and gave us more great characters to add to the list of Gods...
...

onyx95 says "Great teen adventure, looking forward to next book of series." about Meg Christian - Battling the Unknown

After doing the same thing everyday for several years with plans of doing the same thing for the rest of her life, Katrina Rawl was surprised to find a note written by her mother requesting her to find a Amile the Warrior. Under the Emperor of Umberodia’s current laws that no one was suppose to be able to read, she knew not to let on that her mother had taught her, but now that she was set in her new path, of finding Amile, she found herself being pursued by the Emperor’s men. Not truly understanding the Emperor’s reasons, Katrina fled Umberodia and soon found an unlikely travel companion in the form of a little bird. Later she would meet several other helpful people on her continued search for Amile and the answer to the mystery surrounding her mother.

Marked as book 1 of the Last Rawl trilogy, this book leaves with a great set up for at least the second book. Written by teen, it is about a teen on an adventure. Well done, all though it is short, this book shows great...
...

onyx95 says "Another fabulous Carpathian story" about Christine Feehan - Dark Slayer: A Carpathian Novel Library Edition

Ivory Malinov was thought dead for centuries, while all five of her brothers chose to become a part of the enemy (vampire), that caused her death. Finding out she is alive only raises suspicions that she may be in league with the last of her brothers. Razvan was a Dragonseeker and everyone knew him to be the worst of traitor’s to the Carpathian people, but after escaping his long captivity by Xavier the most evil Mage anyone had ever know, he was determined to walk into the dawn. The warrior in Ivory couldn’t let the man she found unconscious in the snow face the dawn, especially after realizing that he was her lifemate. As his healing progressed, new information was uncovered that would help Mikhail (Prince of the Carpathian people) and Gregori (their healer) believe that to defeat the Carpathians greatest enemy, they needed the help of this unique couple. Could they be trusted with the fate of the entire species?

Book 20 ….. ai kucak! (oh stars!)
