There are many advantages to living in Houston and one of them is that Continental Airlines offers many non stop flights from Houston to were I want and need to go. Much of our family lives in Ohio and without Continental Airlines it would be difficult if not impossible to see our family (with them traveling here or us traveling there) as often as we do. My daughter has flown using their unaccompanied minor system (which is expensive but never messed up); I have flown alone with two preschool children in tow and so far every experience has been excellent.

What I like about air travel with Continental Airlines

at check in they offered my husband a security pass so he could help me get the kids to the gate
they always take excellent care of my unaccompanied minor daughter as she travels back and forth
the flight attendants let ME handle the children - with the occasional helpful suggestion (say about ears hurting)
daily flights back and forth to where we need to go

There are some subjects you just want to talk about. This review is about one of those topics. Maxi Pads. UGH - I hate that word, and I hate the time of month that goes along with it, but....still. There are some products you come across that are just so 'different' that you HAVE to share your experience. Here's mine.

Always Maxi Overnight Extra Heavy Flow pads. WOOF! I have never in my life seen a maxi pad that is as large as this thing. I mean it is HUGE. GIANT! A surfboard! For the sake of this review, I'm sitting here with a ruler so I can measure the size of this thing. Here it goes.... While still in it's individual wrapper it measures over 1/2", obviously when it's unwrapped it's not nearly as thick. The length of this maxi pad is what I find so unbelievable! I just measured it and it measured at 15" long. THAT IS OVER ONE FOOT of maxi pad that you are supposed to wear while you sleep. Good luck with that! (Oh, also they have wings so they cover...

This review is the for New Moon movie, and not the New moon book.

The day before Thanksgiving, I splurged and took the kids to see the New Moon movie. I rarely pay the prices at the box office, but because I enjoyed all the Twilight books so much I wanted to see the movie. Of course, there was a long line to see the New Moon movie, but we were able to get into the first showing. The theater was packed, but even the pre-teen girls that were there to watch it were quiet and behaved themselves during the film, so I was happy.

For the record, the New Moon book was my least favorite of the series. I found it to be slow and boring, and the characters all annoyed me. While the New Moon moviewas also a bit slow in parts, I thought that the Jacob character was well presented and I actually started to like his character (I hated the Jacob character in the books). It didn't hurt that Taylor Lautner, the actor that played Jacob, was absolutely gorgeous and really buffed up for the movie....

I've come to realize that men's shaving products, such as razors, are EXPENSIVE! I think the amount that they charge for a razor is just outrageous, and I refuse to pay regular price for something that will be used and thrown away. While I still like stuff from LUSH, I have too much of it and am trying really hard to not buy any new stuff until I make a huge dent in my stash of products. Yep, I have a huge Rubbermaid box just full of bath and body stuff that I MUST use up.

So while I was recently digging thru that box, I found a bar of LUSH's Temptation soap that I don't even remember buying. I know it's an apple-scented soap and I love apples so I'm sure that's what cause me to buy it but that's really all I knew until a few weeks ago when I unwrapped it and stuck it in my shower to give it a try. Good news! Temptation soap is a hit!

Just Friends did not receive the attention it deserved when it was at the movie theaters. In fact, I never heard of the movie until I watched it on DVD as a rental. However, after watching Just Friendsonce, I ran out and bought the movie and added it to my DVD collection. IT IS HYSTERICAL!!! Absolutely hilarious film that stars Ryan Reynolds (love him!), Anna Faris, Amy Smart, Chris, Klein, and a host of others.

NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW -

Just Friends is an unsuspecting Christmas comedy that the entire family can enjoy together. When handsome and successful Chris Brander (Reynolds) returns to his hometown on an unexpected trip, he is put in the position to be face-to-face with his best fried from high school (who he was secretly in love with). Although Chris arrives back home confident and self-assured, being back in his hometown and surrounding by people he went to high school with, he quickly loses his confidence and is sucked back into his insecure old self. It is hilarious....

When you're sick and have to blow your nose CONSTANTLY, the last thing you want to do is use a rough tissue. Am I right? It just plain hurts! Puff's Ultra Soft & Strong Tissues make an enormous difference when you don't feel good. It's like blowing your nose into a nice, soft, ultra-thin blanket! Seriuosly, they are that soft!

No one likes to be sick. But when you have a nice soft box of tissues by your side, you don't mind having to blow your nose as much. Puff's Ultra Soft & Strong Tissues may cost a little more (hardly anything worth mentioning) but they are better than any discount or bargain tissue. Because they are thicker and stronger, you don't need to use as many at a time. One tissue will go a long way, thus you're saving money in the long run.

Visiting my parents for a week, I was able to put the Oster 6331 2-Slice Toaster through quite the challenge. My children like their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches toasted (as do their grandfather). They also enjoy bagels, pop tarts and toaster strudels making it absolutely necessary to use the toaster during this week at home with them and with grandparents wanting to spoil them.

The Oster 6331 2-Slice Toaster is approximately $35.00 and is a two slice toaster that also accomodates bagels, toast, frozen items and in our case I even toasted the whole grain wheat sandwich buns. The darkness control feature offers up to 7 different settings (may I suggest the number 3 setting) and you can also choose from toast, bagels and frozen items. One of the best features of this toaster is that instead of just increasing the numbers for frozen foods, you actually defrost them with the frozen function. Other features that I like include:

I recently had an opportunity to wear a formal gown. I recently attended a birthday party where Mikes Harder Cranberry Lemonade was served to the adults. It was surprisingly fun and refreshing, so I decided to give it a try at home on my own to see if more than one held up to judgment.

Mikes Harder Cranberry Lemonade is a malt beverage, not a beer, but not a spirit. It's made with the same grains as beer. There is one significant difference, it is fruity flavored and carbonated, and honestly nothing like beer, even fruit flavored ones.

Mikes Harder Cranberry Lemonade comes in a four pack package, with large size cans with a price tag of approximately $6.99. Upon pouring, it is larger that most glasses and requires leaving some of it in the can while you drink down the glass. It is incredibly bubbly and the color is a light red, cranberry color. The aroma is fruity and easily drinkable.

Warning to those who don't drink often, this "harder" lemonade actually does pack a little punch on an empty stomach.

Really good beer is the preferred drink in my household for my husband and I like to "mix" things up. Since it is the season, I decided to give Smirnoff Vodka Cranberry Twist a try since I do enjoy many flavored vodka, such as the Absolut line.

Smirnoff Vodka Cranberry Twist is a clear alcohol flavored vodka with the light scent of peach, pear, grain alcohol and cranberry. At first taste (and many others) on the rocks or straight up is not my preferred method of drinking this flavored vodka.

The flavor on the rocks is slightly better than straight up. Smirnoff Vodka Cranberry Twist flavor is prominently the vodka taste, then cranberry, peach and pear.

The one liter bottle of Smirnoff Vodka Cranberry Twist is approximately $21.99 which is actually reasonably priced for that large of a bottle.

The novel, Precious, was originally released titled, "Push" in 1996. It was renamed Precious, I think, because it was made into a movie that has yet to be released. I learned about the book Precious from Oprah Winfrey, who recommends the book.

NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW:

Precious is an illiterate girl who has been sexually abused by her father, physically abused by her mother, and is pregnant with her second child from her father. For many reasons, the book Precious is difficult to read. There is graphic descriptions of the abuse that Precious suffers at the hands of both her parents, which is difficult in itself. When Precious gives birth to her first child, it is born with many birth defects and is quickly taken away from her. Pregnant with her second child at twelve years old, Precious is confused and concerned about her unborn child's health and wellness, and how she will care for it once it is born.

It seems that I am always on the go, running the kids somewhere that they need to be. Between football practice, baseball practice, school event, work, and everything in between, there is always somewhere that I need to be. As a coffee lover, I have tried several different types of travel mugs so that I can enjoy my coffee on the go. No matter how much I spend, or what type of brand I buy, travel mugs always leak and drip coffee on my clothing! It frustrates me to no end.

On a recent trip to Walgreens, I saw Chinet Comfort Cups on sale. I liked the fact that they came with lids and a chique' pattern that looked like something you'd see from your corner coffee shop. The cups came 10 to a pack, with lids, for a price of right around $ 3.00.

As soon as I tried the Chinet Comfort Cups, I began telling everyone I know about how great they are. These things are better than ANY travel mug I have ever owned! They don't leak, they keep my coffee nice and warm, and they look nice...
