I received my sample of PureVia only 2 days ago, and used it in 1 cup of tea and 1 bowl of hot cereal. Mostly, I drink tea with out any sugar and my coffee with regular sugar. Most of my artificial sweetener intake comes in the form of diet sodas. I felt PureVia looked like sugar (or any other sweetener I've tried ) and behaved like sugar (or any sweetener I've tried). My food and beverages did taste sweeter, but didn't have the initial fake sugar taste. When I finished eating and drinking, I did experience a slight aftertaste but it wasn't as severe or nasty as that of aspartame or Surcalose. I don't know if I would buy this again, but I would recommend it for those who use sweeteners regularly. Once PureVia is used in the manufacturing of soda and other sugar free foods, I'll have a better idea if it is worth my while.

I had heard a lot about Zoya nail polish, especially when I was pregnant three years ago. Because it is free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor, it is reported to be safe to use while pregnant. I doubted anything that was so free would have staying power like Zoya claims. Well, Zoya proved me wrong.

Recently, I was able to get three free bottles of Zoya nail polish because of an awesome coupon code. I was excited. The first color I tried was Jinx, which is copper-penny brown metallic nail polish. (Zoya's website describes it as a "Deep red bronze with golden metallic shimmer.") Jinx is also one of it's more opaque polishes. With just 2 strokes, I covered my entire big toe nail. Only habit made me add a second coat, but it was very light. I didn't use a traditional top coat, but a sheer coral-orange-glittery Zoya shade called Gabrielle. It gave my pedicure...

I have instituted a television and computer game free hour and a half with my children every night when I come home from work. During that time, we can play with toys, read books, play board games, color or paint. I usually like to do something that we all can do together, so neither my 2-year-old or 4-year-old feels like they're not getting enough "Mommy Time."

Over the past week, we've played dominos, colored in our various coloring books and stood on the porch blowing bubbles. Today, I wanted to try a board game. I wanted to buy Twister, figuring that my two little ones would enjoy tumbling over each other trying to touch the colored squares but that game cost nearly $23!! Normally, I wouldn't spend more than $3 for a bottle of nail polish since I'm into trendy colors and rarely finish a bottle, but I decided to splurge and try the new Sally Hansen Quick Color nail polish pen. It cost about $7.50. I was able to do one hand very quickly at my desk at work. I applied one coat and got a very nice coverage. The smell wasn't as strong as typical nail polish, and it did dry quickly without smudging. The pen was easy to handle and it only took 2-3 clicks to start the nail polish to flow. It is so convenient especially since I have two toddlers, and I rarely have the time to paint my nails & wait for them to dry thoroughly.

I purchased the nail pen at my local Walgreens, and the colors the carry are: clear, lt. biege, red, orange, blue, and black. I bought orange which is a more dark coral color on the nails as opposed to a bright pumpkin orange. In the package, the red was more dark, blue-based red.

My choice of birth control gives me a very heavy flow. It seemed like every "heavy" or "overnight" protection I used didn't protect me fully--even the ones with wings. I used to have to wear two pads to get the coverage I wanted: one regular sized maxi across the seat of my undies and an extra size along the center. That was until recently. Stayfree's Overnight Maxi with Wings has been a goddessend and I'm willing to pay the nearly $7 for it. This pad has awesome coverage! It has two sets of wings. The second set flares out of the bottom of the pad and covers the back side of your underwear. The first set are longer then usual and nearly wraps under the entire crotch. When I wake up in the morning, I don't have any embarrassing stains to clean up. This is a winner. Probably the best sanitary napkin I've purchased since Always used to have its extra long with wings pads. I highly recommend it....

American Gangster is such an engaging drama that I hardly noticed its 2.5
hour length. It's a good-paced and well-acted movie. It's no Oscar contender, but it
is a good film. Denzel Washington's portrayl of uber-gangster Frank Lucas was
well-played and subtly acted. In some scenes, it could have been easy for him
to go over-the-top like Al Pacino in Scarface. Russell Crowe's was great as the
scrappy New Jersey cop trying to bring down Harlem's drug kingpin. Russell's
performance was also surprisingly low-key. It also made me re-realize how sexy
Russell Crowe compared to the other pretty-boy leading men.

Josh Brolin stands out as the dirty and flashy New York City cop on the take. In a scene where she confronts her son about his dirty business, Ruby Dee is powerful and steals the limelight as Frank Lucas' mother. In his brief role as rival drug czar Nicky Barnes, Cuba Gooding Jr. acts against type. It made me want to see more of him.

The last time I really loved playing video games was over twenty years ago, when I would play Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede on my Atari 2600. Since then, I've seen several systems come in and out of my house-Sega Genesis, Playstation, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, and XBOX 360. I have watched my husband, various children and teens become obsessed with video games--looking up cheat codes, waiting in line for hours for the latest releases, and playing video games into the wee hours of the morning. I have never understood the fanaticism of video game fans.

The new generation of video games look great, but I've never been able to master the multiple button controllers or develop the patience throw myself into long-playing games. Suddenly, there were games that I could play and loved to play. There were games that incorporate my hobbies of dancing, karaoke, and following fashion. Hershey has introduced a new candy bar called Reese's Whipps. It took the best parts of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and made it to a light, fluffy, creamy chocolate bar. Think of it as a 3 Muskteers bar with a peanut butter and nougant center instead of choclate. It satisfies my candy bar craving without it being too heavy or rich. It melts in my mouth for the perfect combo of peanut butter and chocolate flavor. Although it claims to be 40% less fat than your typical chocolate candy bar, I'm not buying it to be weight or health conscious. I'm simply buying it because of taste. I would even go as far as to say that if I had to chose between an original Reese's peanut butter candy and a Reese's Whipps, I'd chose the Whipps.

Right now, Reese's Whipps is one of my favorite candy snacks. Unfortunately, I cannot find it every where. I can only find at one drug store. I hope as it starts receive more national recognition, the availability will widen.

During this new television season, PBS has introduced a new educational children's show called Super Why! It appears to be geared towards children ages 3-6--preschoolers and beginning readers. However, both my 2-1/2-year-old and 7-month old daughters enjoy the show.

Super Why! features a group of friends who use their super powers to answer the dilemma of the day. They form a group called the Super Readers. There's Whyatt, the little brother of Jack of Jack and the Beanstalk fame. There's also one of the pigs from The Three Little Pigs; Little Red Riding Hood; and the Princess from the Princess and the Pea. Whyatt has reading power. Princess has spelling power. The pig has alphabet power, and Red has word power. Because the show is interactive and engages the child watching, the child viewer also has a super power--the power to help!

I'm Two Years Old! By Meis the best parenting book I have read since becoming a mother in 2005. It gives simple reasons for understanding your toddler's behavior. It also gives solutions without making a parent feel guilty or stupid. I've found myself shouting out "Eureka!" at the end of some chapters, because it helped me to understand some of the situations with my daughter that absolutely baffled me. For one example, my daughter hates getting her hair washed although she loves to run through water sprinklers. The book suggested using a plastic visor to keep the water from running into her eyes. Running through the water sprinkler is a fun activity that she can control. Mommy pouring soapy water over her head while she has to sit still is not fun or something to she can control. The book is helping me to communicate more gently and more patiently with my toddler when she is misbehaving or throwing a tantrum. As soon as your baby starts walking, buy this book!...

I bought Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, because I have a creative toddler who sometimes gets paint and crayon on the walls, windows, and the floors. (Most of the time, on purpose!) I had seen the advertisements, and thought the Magic Eraser would be a great 1 step cleaner that I could use with a small bit of elbow grease. Unfortunately, it took as much elbow grease and scrubbing to get the washable crayon marks off the windows and walls as a regular sponge with dish detergent. Also, after one use, there wasn't much left for a second use. I was hoping that each sponge would last longer considering that a package cost nearly $4. I will not buy Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser again....
