http://www.viewpoints.com/aboutme/momkks4 Fri, 21 Dec 2007 15:15:06 GMT Reviews by momkks4 http://www.viewpoints.com/The-Golden-Compass--129519-review-6fc21 I have not had a chance to read the book yet, but the movie was much more than the kids movie I thought it was going to be.  It opens new areas of thought,  a world where your demons are not bad, but a constant companion.    It also shows how even against supposedly unsurmountable odds,  when people who appear to be enemies and also people that "so called society looks down on" unite,  the world can become a better place.    The special effects were wonderful,  I left wanting my own demon, and also wishing thre was a way to meet the battle bears.   It said a lot about todays world but it was done in the same style as the old fables.   I cant wait for the next installment... Fri, 21 Dec 2007 15:15:06 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/The-Golden-Compass--129519-review-6fc21 momkks4 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/Readers-Digest-review-70913 I have always enjoyed the Readers Digest.   Their different joke pages make me laugh.  So many of the short joke storied could happen to anyone.  They are funny and down to earth.  They always have a good interview with someone in the entertainment field.  It gives you a peek into there lives and their heads without being obstrusive.  "That's Outrageous" brings to light all the ways we are being cheated or taken advantage of "Legally"    They also give a place to find everyday heroes, and their articles educate people in many different things,   health and wellness,  learning,  money secrets,  and even ways to fit more things into your house comfortably        I have been reading this mag for over 30 years and plan to continue until it is no longer conducive to do so... Fri, 21 Dec 2007 14:28:48 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Readers-Digest-review-70913 momkks4 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/A-Deadly-Affair-review-497e0 THis book told the story of a man who seemed to have no scruples but I ended up believing he loved both women and did not have the sanity to find a way out of the problem he created.    He went for the passion and ended up destroying more lives than just the death of his wife.  His child will grow up with no mother, a father in prison for killing the mother.  problably only one set of grandparents.   The judge he had the affair with was a weak willed woman who fell for his stories.  Her career was destroyed. and his wife who seemed to be happily married   Killed in her happiest state.  He is a scary monster because he is a well spoken, seemingly intelligent man who didnt have the morals of a cat.    The scariest part is that there are probably more men and a few women who are just like him, and they hide behind masks of respectability  The book was rich in details and tried to be as honest to all parties as possible... There is always an interesting investigation, homicide to start and then moves on. The main character Crews seems to have learned to deal well with his wrongful imprisonment. But I believe that as the show goes on, people will find out that there is more than just interest in the truth underneath all of his calm zenlike approach to his private investigation. But he takes all roadblocks in stride and still tries to teach people that you should never take Life for granted... Fri, 30 Nov 2007 17:29:57 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Life-TV-Show-review-7aff momkks4 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/The-Closer-review-a7b03  It is a great police drama with just enough personal interaction to please everyone.     Kyra Sedgewick is great in this show, her accent can drive a person a bit crazy but other than that the character is complex, flawed in her personal life, like the rest of us, but in her professional life no one can beat her.   She will always fight for what she believes in, but she is not a perfect person.  She can be a bit of a spoiled brat at times, but she will defend with her last breath her friends and colleagues.    It is one of the best shows in its genre that I have ever seen...
