misspandora says "not bad, but not as good as expected" about PureVia All Natural Zero Calorie Sweetener

I was glad to be selected to receive a free sample of PureVia from Viewpoints. PureVia is made by the Whole Earth Company. It is an all natural, zero calorie sweetener made from the stevia plant.

The packaging for the product is attractive. The box comes with 40 sticks. Using one packet equals using two teaspoons of sugar. I found that I actually needed a bit more than that, to get the same sweetness that I get from sugar.

I find that most artificial sweeteners have a bad aftertaste. The only exception to that has been Splenda. The PureVia has an aftertaste that seems to get stronger the longer you drink your coffee. It's not bad, but it's definitely an aftertaste.

I think the pros outweigh the cons--PureVia is much better for you than sugar.
...

misspandora says "Can't say enough good about this school." about University of West Alabama

My eldest daughter recently graduated from the University of West Alabama with a degree in English Language Arts Teacher Certification. Basically, she's a qualified English teacher now. In the four years she attended UWA, we never had a bad experience there. The class sizes are small, with a high teacher-to-student ratio and the teachers seem to genuinely care about the students. They are very good about helping to find financial aid for those who need it. Since UWA is small, it is easy to be very involved in all aspects of campus life. They have fraternities and sororities, an active SGA, and other social or community-minded activities. Her time there was enjoyable and she made lifelong friends.
...

misspandora says "Great all around digital camera." about Sony - H10 Digital Camera

I bought the Sony CyberShot H10 digital camera in March of 2009. It has been the best digital camera I have ever owned, and I have owned several that were a lot more expensive. I paid under $200 at Costco for this one and it was well worth the money. It has a 10x zoom and nine settings, not counting video. I take a lot of action photography and both the sports setting and the ISO setting work well for this. The ISO setting works especially well at night for action shots. I am a scrapbooker, so I take literally thousands of pictures a year and I have been very satisfied with this camera.
...

misspandora says "This stuff works great." about Kirkland (Costco brand) Anti-Diarrheal Tablets

This may be TMI, but I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and not much seems to stop the diarrhea associated with this disease. The Kirkland Anti-Diarrheal Tablets sold at Costco are the best thing I have found to ease the condition. They are very inexpensive (I believe less than $13 for 2 bottles) and they work better than all the name brands I have tried. They also work for occasional diarrhea, like that caused by flu or stomach virus. I'm not sure about small children, but my daughter used them when she was about 11 and they worked fine. They are small and easily swallowed.
...

misspandora says "Smells so good with no artificial scent." about Whole Foods 365 LAVENDER SHAMPOO

Whole Foods 365 Lavender Shampoo is the best shampoo I know of for the price. It is about $5.00 for a 32 ounce bottle. It doesn't take a ton, so it lasts a *long* time. It has a wonderful scent and there are no artificial fragrances added. I use it every day and it has not dried out my hair at all. It doesn't build up on the hair like a lot of other shampoos do, it works more like a clarifying shampoo. It is very inexpensive, not as cheap as some other brands, but much higher quality. They also make a conditioner in the same scent.
...

misspandora says "The Corioliss Classic Pro is awesome!" about Corioliss Classic Pro

My daughter recently received the Corioliss Classic Pro flat iron as a birthday gift. I thought it was outrageously expensive. "How much better could it be?" I thought. The answer--a lot! It's worth the extra investment, especially if you're pressed for time in the mornings like most of us are. Instead of having to go over the same strands of hair several times, the Corioliss gets it right the first time. It gets both my and my daughter's hair as smooth as silk. She has very fine hair and unlike other flat irons we have tried, this one doesn't damage her hair at all. It also works for styling, as the plates are flexible. We love this product!
...

misspandora says "Love this website!!" about PostSecret

I love this website; I even bought several of the books so I could see the older secrets. Some are funny, many are sad, and some are incomprehensible. The webmaster does a great job of keeping it updated regularly. The books are well worth reading, as well....

misspandora says "One of the best scrapbooking magazines available." about Creating Keepsakes

I've been scrapbooking for almost five years, and work part time at a local scrapbook store. I've also taught classes on scrapbooking techniques. I subscribe to most of the scrapbook magazines out there, and Creating Keepsakes is one of my favorites. It does have a lot of ads, but they are for good products and companies that you may not have seen yet. The magazine is cutting edge, and right on top of the latest trends, both in product and techniques. If you like the absolute latest trends, then you'll like this magazine. If you are more of a traditional scrapbooker, or you have limited time to spend on your hobby, try their sister publication, Simple Scrapbooks....

misspandora says "Makes you want to sing along!" about Original Soundtrack - Hairspray

The only problem I have with this cd is that every time I listen to it, the songs get stuck in my head! This cd doesn't disappoint, even considering that half the cast is better known for acting than singing, Who knew Michelle Pfeiffer and James Marsden could sing? The songs are, for the most part, upbeat and bounce, though several have a darker underlying theme. My daughters and I love this soundtrack. We saw he movie in the theater six times, and bought the soundtrack and dvd the days they came out....

misspandora says "Don't think of it as a remake." about Hairspray

First of all, this is not a re-make of the John Waters classic. The original inspired a Broadway musical, and this movie is the filmed versin of that Broadway show. Keep that in mind, and you'll probably like it more. Many John Waters fans were disappointed in this version. I wasn't. I would have preferred that someone other than John Travolta play Edna, but he was passable. Would have been nice to see Harvey Fierstein in the role. Newcomer Nikki Blonsky and Mr. Teen Idol Zac Efron did a very good job, as did Amanda Bynes, a staple of Nickleodeon children's television. Queen Latifah really shines on I Know Where I've Been. I had no idea that James Marsden could sing and dance. He was outstanding as tv host Corny Collins. It's always a treat to see Christopher Walken do comedy, and this was no exception. I recommend the 2 disc edition, as it has many extras (like dance lessons and karaoke!!)...

misspandora says "One of the best horror/comedy series out there." about Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Complete Series Collection

Joss Whedon is a great showrunner and writer. All of his television series have been great, at least while he was in charge. Buffy went downhill a bit when he left to concentrate on Angel. The first few seasons were outstanding- funny, well-plotted, and action-filled. Most of the principal actors were very good, especially Anthony Stewart Head and Alyson Hannigan. Some people felt that the show "jumped the shark" around season 6, but I think there were still some very good episodes in the final 2 seasons. I agree that some of the latter-season story arcs were a bit ridiculous, whih is saying a lot when you consider that the show is all about vampires. Nonetheless, it's well worth watching, owning, and re-watching....
