mickeymagic says "A little bit of bookstore heaven" about Joseph-Beth Booksellers - Cincinnati, OH

Joseph-Beth Booksellers is a great place to shop & browse. They have a great selection of books - but also have a variety of gift items such as Vera Bradley, cards, journals, etc. Sure, you can get discount prices online - but sometimes you just want to hold the books in your hands and thumb thru the pages yourself. They frequently have authors stop by for signings and host other special programs. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere while sipping a latte from their adjacent restaurant. If you love books or want to buy gifts for those who do, be sure to check out this store. My favorite sections are the fiction area - staff favorites are highlighted & the travel section which has lots of maps and a wide variety. The children's section is also expansive - lots of books as well as craft items & some toys. It's a fun place to find gifts for your Christmas list - or yourself! —...

mickeymagic says "Be Amazed, Be Inspired" about Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace tells the story of an extraordinary man who follows his convictions despite many setbacks and a physical disability. It's a story about standing up for what you believe. A dynamic politician, William Wilberforce worked for over 15 years to have the slave trade outlawed in England. Along the way, he had many doubts about what he should do with his life, and he found inspiration in a group of abolitionists (& colorful characters in their own right) who also worked tirelessly for the cause. One of Wilberforce's mentors was a former slave ship captain turned monk, who wrote the hymn "Amazing Grace" - hence the movie's title. One of the movie's producers was Patricia Heaton of "Everybody Loves Raymond" fame. It's very well done - informative, interesting, and inspiring....

mickeymagic says "Shop til you drop!" about Downtown Disney - Anaheim, CA

I enjoy visiting Downtown Disney at Disneyland because there's a lot to see, do, shop & eat. Just be sure to take your wallet! First, if you are a die-hard Disney fan, there's no better place to shop than the World of Disney. The shop has a great array of Disney merchandise for fans of all ages. For a more hip, edgy Disney fan, try the Vault 28 store which is just a few shops down. They carry Disney Couture items as well as designer things - it's still Disney but with a decidedly modern look. Non-Disney stores are also plentiful in the district - everything from jewelry, books, Build-a-Bear, Department 56, etc. There are lots of restaurants too - from Rainforest Cafe to ESPN Zone. The Boudin Bakery offers sit-down eating or carryout - it's yummy all times of the day!...

mickeymagic says "A page turner!" about Diane Setterfield - The Thirteenth Tale

The Thirteenth Tale is a good choice for those who like to read mysterious, intriguing books. The tale is a sad one, but has a good ending. It will keep you guessing until the end. It reminds me of "A Shadow of the Wind," which is another good book, but "Thirteenth Tale" is much shorter. The narrator is a bookish young lady who is asked to write the biography of a well-known but reclusive author. In unlocking the secrets of the author, the narrator discovers and deals with her own past. I haven't read anything else by Diane Setterfield, but I will be looking for more works by her....

mickeymagic says "A magical time!" about Walt Disney World - Orlando, FL

Walt Disney World is a magical place! Take your time and explore the fun things to do. WDW has 4 theme parks & 2 water parks - so allow time to visit. Make the most of your trip by reading some of the guidebooks ahead of time. Don't try to see everything - tailor your trip to your interest and build in time to relax by the pool. It's a great place that's fun for all ages! Here are a few of my favorites: Expedition Everest, Test Track, Soarin' Over California, It's a Small World, Pirates of the Carribbean, Buzz Lightyear, The Finding Nemo Show at Animal Kingdom, Mickey's Philharmagic, Wishes Fireworks at Magic Kingdom and the nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom. One attraction that's not worth seeing is the Stitch Adventure at Magic Kingdom - it's scary for little kids and boring for adults. The new Monsters Inc Laughfloor at Magic Kingdom is worth...
