merna-caboo says "Don't get suckered." about Budget Rental Car

A month or so before my trip to Seattle, I reserved a rental car through budget.com. I reserved a mid-size vehicle for 9 days and got what I felt like was a good price at about $380. When I got to Seattle and to the Budget desk, I was told I was going to be driving a PT Cruiser. I hate PT Cruisers and, no offense to those of you that love them and own them, I did not want to be seen driving one. I told the woman behind the desk that I had a strong aversion to the PT Cruiser and asked if there was something else available. She told me that for an extra $9 a day I could "upgrade" to a Toyota Corolla. I now sensed that this was some sort of ploy to get me to spend more money. I told her that the Corolla, while it would not make me look like an idiot while I drove it, did not seem to be worthy of a $9 extra fee. I also asked if the PT Cruiser was the only mid-size car the company carried. She then admitted to me that I could have a Mitsubishi Galant for no extra cost. It......

merna-caboo says "Do NOT name your own price." about Priceline

I enjoy using travel websites to book my own travel. My friend told me about the "Name your own price" feature on Priceline and I decided to check it out. I had an upcoming trip to plan and decided to try to get a 4-star hotel for $100. I was successful in "naming my own price" but the hotel I got was by no means a 4-star hotel. It was horrible. If you want a full review of the hotel priceline sent me to, check out my review of the Plaza 500. To put it succinctly, the place sucked. Not smart enough to stay away from the "name your own price" feature despite my unfortunate stay at the Plaza 500, I used this method to get a room ijust outside Seattle in a town called Bothell. The hotel was given 2 1/2 stars and I got it for $79 a night. The price was great and it was even a very nice hotel, much nicer than the Plaza 500, but I was given a smoking room. It seems that when you name your own price, you are not given a chance to refuse a room that is hazardous to one's health. ...
...

merna-caboo says "This place blows." about Plaza 500 - Vancouver, British Columbia

I would have had no complaints about this hotel were it not for the fact that it was billed as a 4-star hotel. Since the hotel had this distinction, I expected it to live up to it. It was in no way worthy of 4 stars. I would not give it any stars. It is a no star hotel if you ask me.

My first complaint about this hotel came as soon as I stepped off the elevator onto the third floor, the unfortunate location of my room. The entire floor smelled exactly like my grandfather's house did shortly before he died. In other words, it smelled like an incontinent old man. Hoping that the room itself would be less offensive, I found that this was not to be the case. The room was slightly less offensive smelling but what it lacked in smell in more than made up for in noise. My second issue with this hotel is that my room was situated directly behind the elevators and everytime one of the two elevators went up or down, I was forced to hear it squeak. There were something like 14 floors...
...
