melgel says "High priced food, low quality fish" about Reel in restaurant - Malibu, CA

The atmosphere is typical for a beach side restaurant, large wooden tables and outdoor patio, cafeteria style ordering. I ordered the fish and chips, for $9.95 you expect freshness and quality. The fish was bitter, dark in color and had a strong fish odor...not fresh. Being from Boston, and having ordered fish & chips in England, I have never had the dish served with a dark, pungent fish so did not think to ask what type of fish it came with. I brought the dish back to the window and stated it was inedible, they offered me a new dish with the fish of my choice. I asked what do you have for white fish? The answer was Talapia (cheap fish about 3.99 a pound or orange roughy, another pacific fish that sells for about 4.99 a pound. I opted for the orange roughy. I also order the clam chowder at that time for an additional $4.00. They charged me an additional $6.00 for the cheap white fish. So for Fish and chips, a mediocre cup-o-chowder, and a diet coke it cost me $22.00!! ...
...

melgel says "Do the installers speak English? NO!" about DIRECTV

Reps came and had a hard time grasping that I was switching from dishnetwork to directv. They were unable to answer any questions due to language barrior. This was slightly frustrating. But not nearly as frustrating as when I realized they took an important part form the previous satellite provider...a piece I needed to return or be charged 200+ dollars. After several calls I was finally able to get the piece back and close the account with the old provider. Directv had a hands off a approach to this since they sub out work to a company that also subs out the work...they were very hands off when I was having a problem which was tantamount to theft! I was disappointed and was not offered any help. service seems to be OK...The DVR is acting up which I now must delete everything I've recorded and it may or may not make it right. Tech Support seems to be nonexistent....

melgel says "Ready to o right out of the box" about Garmin - StreetPilot c530

I fell in love from the minute I took it out of the box. It takes 2 minutes to find where it will call home, then it's ready to go. One can download maps, car icons etc to personalize this GPS device. One important thing to note is Garmins will help you follow truck routes, avoid highways and traffic. It becomes intuitive also knowing where I like to get onto the freeway rather than direct me to the entrance that may be closest. Great product! One great feature I like is the estimated time of arrival on the screen and how it re-adjusts when you make a wrong turn. I will never be lost again!
...

melgel says "Thumbs up at the Dentist!" about Sonicare Elite 7300 Toothbrush with Sonic Technology

After switching jobs & losing insurance I found myself between dentists. Before I knew it it had been more than a year since my last cleaning. Well what prompted me to find a new dentist was a filling that cracked. When it was time for my appointment I informed the dentist that it had been some time since my cleaning ad in addition to the filling replacement I would like a cleaning etc. He stated I have been doing a great job brushing and he saw nothing to scrape...but he would do the cleaning if I wanted.

I credit the Sonic that I had started using 9 months before! This brush really works!! My teeth are whiter & brighter as a result.

...

melgel says "Lights...action...hmmmm" about Sonicare HX7990/02 UV Electric Toothbrush Sanitizer

Well the toothbrush is warm when it comes out of the machine...but is it germ free? I dunno...but I'd rather take the chance it does. It lights up like the tools at the nail salon, so I am hoing it does something. But I am a person who needs proof, perhaps if it came with a type of litmus test I would be able to recommend it with more enthusiasm...alas...I cannot. I just hope it is doing what it claims. ...
