meags says "My Treo has 'tude but I like it" about Palm - Treo 755P Cell Phone

I actually got the Treo 775p as a hand-me-down from my mother in law who had a lot of problems with the phone and wanted something simpler. I'll be honest, I thought she was just technologically inept, but actually this phone seems to have a mind of its own.

First, the things I like about it. I love the qwerty keyboard, the touch screen (with stylus if I need it), and the Microsoft OS. It syncs up well to my Microsoft 2007 suite and I really like the call back log with pretty detailed information. I use the recently called people feature a LOT and it's helpful when I'm in a hurry. I haven't had many problems with caller sound quality and not too many dropped calls (that is, when I am full service - otherwise it's not the phone's fault). I like how the text messages are saved as conversations so I know what I last said to the person I'm texting.

Now for the flaws. When I accidentally let the battery die, the phone doesn't ring anymore. It will vibrate, but since I don't keep my phone in...
...

meags says "Slightly disappointed in this Dell laptop" about Dell Inspiron 1420 Laptop

I bought this laptop because I had had good experience with Dell computers in the past and really liked the customizable colors that were being offered (I got mine in Flamingo Pink). However, I've had a lot of problems with it. First, I couldn't connect to wireless internet for a very long time and spent hours and hours with customer service on the phone trying to figure it out. In the end, it turns out that my bluetooth could not be on at the same time so unless I'm syncing my phone I leave it off. Otherwise, the internet does not work.

Also, the DVD-ROM drive is slow and noisy. When I am copying CDs to my iTunes, half of the time it stops working. This was very frustrating when I was first trying to load all of my music onto the laptop. It makes a terribly loud noise and often rips corrupted copies that skip. Lately I've noticed that my computer gets really warm so I only use it for a few hours at a time. It seems that the internal fan is not doing such a great job. When this happens,...
...

meags says "I love my Amana fridge!" about Amana AFF2534FE

I really wanted a french-door bottom-freezer fridge, and this one is great. It was affordable and we haven't had any problems with it since we got it. There is a similar model with a water dispenser, but I felt like it took a lot of valuable space in the fridge doors so we went with this model. The door storage is large enough to fit 2 gallons of milk and/or juice. The shelves all over move around and there are three crispers. The vegetable and fruit crispers can have the humidity controlled to have one of each or both the same (you can designate each one vegetables or fruit). The bottom crisper pulls out and is very spacious.

The bottom freezer has an ice maker that you can turn off and remove the ice tray if you need more space. The bottom part of the freezer has a middle divider than can be moved from side to side to adjust how large you want each of the two compartments to be.

The stainless steel does get dirty pretty quickly, so keep that in mind if you aren't sure if you want to...
...

meags says "LG Gas Dryer is Great!" about LG DLE2516 Electric Dryer

We purchased the LG DLE2516 Electric Dryer to go along with the LG Washer. They were being sold as a pair at the Sears location that we purchased it from. So far we have been incredibly happy with the product.

I have noticed that the dryer deposits "items" found in pockets next to the door. I do not know if this was on purpose or is coincidental, but it has been nice! I have found pens and lip glosses near the door of the dryer and this prevent the item from getting all over the clothes.

The options on the dryer are pretty thorough. There's several different drying predetermined dryer cycles (normal, permanent press, etc), and also a timed cycle, although you only have choices in increments of ten minutes. The beep at the end of the cycle is a song, although you can turn it off. The dryer does fit a lot of clothes in it, more than what can fit in the washer.

I have found that the "normal" cycle is not enough for towels and heavy sweaters, so I generally tack on another 20 minutes to...
...

meags says "Great LG Washer but needs more features" about LG WM2016C Front Load Washer

We bought the LG Washer (model number WM2016CW) after a lot of consideration on different front loading units. We did not even look at the top loaders, so if you are open to those keep that in mind when you read this review. We looked at the Consumer Reports ratings and also customer ratings online before purchasing, so a lot of work went into this decision. We have been completely happy with the product thus far.

There are a few different settings on the washer that I like, including different cycles for deep cleaning and gentle, and also a "hand wash" cycle that I put my delicates in. It has not torn, damaged, or discolored any of my clothes like my previous washer did. The slide out drawer for inserting detergent could be more clearly marked - you need to just "know" where the detergent goes. (The bigger slot.) We had some problems with water leaking out of the bottom, but I adjusted how much detergent I was using as per the troubleshooting card instructions, and it seemed to do the...
...

meags says "Grisly details but heart-warming story" about Andrea Askowitz - My Miserable Lonely Lesbian Pregnancy

I thought My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy by Andrea Askowitz was a crudely honest look at pregnancy, especially the physical aspects. Despite not having lived it, I feel as though I have through her descriptions. Or that I can at least begin to understand what may lie in store for me down the road. And let me tell you, it ain't pretty. This book is not for squeamish men, despite the lesbian overtones. A few girlie action scenes are not going to be worth it for most guys out there. (Well for those that like that type of thing.) She describes the nausea, the constipation, the heartburn, the anxiety and depression, and then the actual birthing process. It sounds utterly miserable. And painful. Her friend sympathizes, saying, "Doesn't it feel like you shat your ass inside out?" (p219) But after she has the child and the birthing wounds heal, her writing style changes from sardonic to serene. Like she can do anything after having given birth.
While we certainly have rather large differences...
...

meags says "A nice bra to go with just about anything" about Victoria's Secret Very Sexy 100-Way Strapless Convertible Bra

EDIT: I wanted to note that after my bra fell apart two years later, I was unable to replace it because they no longer sell these.

Just to make things clear, I'm not really a big fan of Victoria's Secret. Since moving to the US a year ago, I've seriously been missing my favorite lingerie store, La Senza. I find VS to be overly expensive and the quality is hit or miss at best. Especially their pajamas.

However, I have to disagree with the other reviewer, because I purchased this bra about 6 months ago and I love it. I bought it to go with my work blouses since my uniform requires that I wear a white blouse everyday and I needed something white without lace or designs (and a little pushup for fun) that I could wear every day, without running the risk of someone seeing through my shirt and commenting on my cute applique daisies.

While I sometimes find the pushup works a little too well, I've always felt incredibly comfortable wearing it. I purchased the 34C and feel that it fits perfectly....
...

meags says "This book will change the way you think about happiness." about Stumbling on Happiness

This book is excellent. It is humorous and insightful. Often, the fear when beginning a non-fiction piece is that it will be dry and full of concepts that are usually written in a language that feels way above your limits of understanding. Not so with Gilbert's work. It is written in an easy-going, colloquial language, where he compares happiness related decision-making to whether one would continue to buy Starbucks even after the price shot up considerably and why, and often breaks things down in an eloquent - if blunt - manner.

The true merits of this book are not in how it makes you reevaluate your life - which it doesn't do. The obviousness of his conclusions, the "why didn't I think of that before?" phenomenon is what really makes this book a great read. This is important because you can understand what makes people, including yourself, tick and it doesn't require you to fundamentally change anything about yourself! It's an open, honest, and incredibly worthwhile journey.

I personally......
