maggiebooks says "had it less than four months and both units had problems" about Whirlpool Washer Dryer - Top Load Stacked LTE5243D

I purchased this unit (Whirlpool stackable washer/dryer) on August 16th 2007. On Sept. 22, 2007, the day before I went on vacation, the dryer stopped heating. I called for a refund or repair when I got back, and was told I could only get a repair. It turned out the igniter was defective, and was replaced.

On Dec. 11, when I was doing a load of wash, I heard a bang. I went to investigate and found smoke in the back porch. I turned off the washer, and opened the lid and found smoke. I called Whirlpool, again requesting a refund, and was told they don't give refunds. Remember, I've had this unit less than FOUR months. They did agree to extend my warranty until 2009. It turned out that a part (motor start capacitor) had literally exploded.

If I could give a negative rating, I would do so. I would caution anyone about buying a whirlpool product

An additional note On December 23rd, less than two weeks after the washer was repaired, it happened again. As it is a sunday,...
...

maggiebooks says "welcome back, jerry seinfeld, to the world of comedy" about Bee Movie

While I have to admit I don't always like animated films, I really enjoyed this one. Jerry Seinfeld did a lot of interesting promotions for the movie, which piqued my interest. The one thing I wish animated films would do is show the character at the beginning of the film with the name of the person doing the voice. I always have at least one voice I pull my hair out trying to figure out who it is. I guess I could go to IMDB prior to the show, but it would be hard to see the printout in the dark.

In this movie, I especially liked Chris Rock's voice. He is a great talent, and he and Seinfeld make a good pair.

With the way bees have been disappearing from our earth, this may be the best way to learn about them.
...

maggiebooks says "nice mix of animation and live action" about Enchanted

I was so glad to see a family film that is suitable for both children and adults. I enjoyed the mix of animation and live action.

I always like to travel when I see a movie, and visiting New York City is something I like to do as often as possible. I liked seeing the scenes in Time Square and checking out the play advertisements.

The acting was nicely done, and the actors appeared to be having an enjoyable time. Susan Sarandon was menacing, yet looked pretty. Patrick Dempsey maintains his dreamy hunk status. Idina Menzel made the most of a small part..
...

maggiebooks says "plum funny" about Lean Mean Thirteen

LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN by Janet Evanovich ($27.95, St. Martin's Press) Thirteenth in the Stephanie Plum series (duh) Rating A Stephanie's ex-husband Dickie Orr can still push her buttons. She tries to avoid contact with him, especially as he is having a fling with her arch-rival Joyce Barnhardt. She only went to his office as a favor to Ranger, who needed a "bug" planted. The trip had enough disaster potential that in addition to Lula, office manager Connie went along. They pretended to need help forming a business, but when Stephanie saw a family heirloom, she got a tad irritated. That's an understatement, and the result was she left with her aunt's clock. She didn't go quietly, though, and when Dickie goes missing with blood in his apartment, she is the primary suspect. Joyce, who can smell wealth a mile away, is afraid Stephanie is hiding her potential meal ticket. Joyce takes to following Stephanie, and zapping her with a stun gun. In the midst of this action,......

maggiebooks says "one of the best dining experiences ever" about sacks cafe and restaurant - Anchorage, AK

While in Anchorage Alaska for a convention, we skipped the banquet and went to Sacks Cafe. It was one of the best dining experiences in my life. We liked it so much, we went back the next night. My friend had Halibut both nights and loved them both, saying they were superb and perfectly prepared.

I had the tomato and gorgonzola soup with the smoked bacon and apple salad with a lavender and maple vinaigrette that was so good I wanted to like the plate. We had a slice of caramel apple cake with a chili sauce that was divine. The second trip I had the pork tenderloin that was done to perfection. I also had the lemon pot de creme which was heavenly. That recipe is on the website.

We had great service, and would highly recommend it. If I go back to Alaska, I wll definitely eat there. I only regret I didn't eat there earlier in my trip, as then I would have gone back every night.

\
...

maggiebooks says "a very caring nurse helped my mother so very much" about ucsd hospital San Diego CA

My elderly mother was admitted to UCSD hospital in San Diego and had a wonderful experience with the nursing staff they were all wonderful, but one nurse stood out from all the rest. Chad Hutchinson was so caring. He asked me questions about mom's condition before her fall, and how they could help her. He kept me informed on her care, and calmed me down when I was concerned about her being released too early to a SNF He even told me to call if I had any questions.

The hospital was wonderful about helping mom, with someone there to feed her when I wasn't able to be there. They helped me find a nice SNF to transfer her to when she was able to go to a rehab facility.

Medical care doesn't have to be unfeeling, and this experience showed me it can be humane.
...
