madmax says "Great picture but background hum" about Panasonic - TH-42PX6U Flat Panel HD Television

This is my first big screen tv - MUCH larger than my previous tv's screen - in fact larger than what I was looking for, but this was at a good price. The picture is great - sharp, and colors are good. The only negative is that (I assume due to the size) it has a discernable constant electronic hum. I keep hoping I'll get used to this, as the tv sound overrides it, but depending on the show I can sometimes hear it and I've had it for eight months, so I haven't gotten used to it. On the positive side, when I got it home and had a glitch with the hookup for cable, I called the Panasonic help line and someone answered immediately and was very polite and helpful - this was right after I had called the cable company for help, and that representive seemed bored and tired of of helping me after just a few minutes (and didn't solve the problem whereas the Panasonic person solved it immediately). ...

madmax says "I'm glad I have this." about Garmin - StreetPilot c340

Now I know I can always find my way - a huge relief! It was really nice, when to be stuck in a traffic jam, to be able to take a new route home around the traffic, and know that I could still find my way home - with the Garmin. It's very easy to use and only requires touching the screen. However, I still haven't figured out (if it is possible) how to "look ahead" to see what follows after the next turn - this is somewhat disorienting on a trip longer than a few miles - to not know what comes after the next turn. Also, in the Washington, DC. area it doesn't handle freeways like the Beltway well. The instructions will often be "turn in 1 mile" but in reality it's not a turn (as in an exit) but rather following the bend in the road. That's why the look ahead feature would be handy, to have more perspective on curves in the road vs turns/exits. I still take a map or mapquest printout on trips with me if I'm going to an area that I'm unfamiliar with, but the Garmin is a great addition in...
...

madmax says "I like it." about Canon - PowerShot SD750 Digital Camera

This is my first digitial camera. I haven't figured out all the features yet but I am able to do the basics, and those all work very well. The large screen is great - you can show others the photos from the screen and they can actually see them. The video feature works well too. The photo quality is very good - no problem with shakiness. The original memory card does not hold many photos and I had to soon purchase a larger size. But overall, I love the camera. It is small and lightweight enough to fit in my jean's pocket, and so I actually take it along on trips and use it, rather than previously never wanting to carry a camera with me....
