Religion tries to bring God to us in an endless variety of ways. Christianity points to the New Testament and tells us that Jesus had experiences that parallel our own and overcame similar difficulties and moral dilemas. Rice gives us a glimps of growing up with Him, or more truly more awsome, of the responsibility of parenting Him. And she tells a good story without attempting to convert anyone.

The Pumpkin Spice Latte has heralded the Autumn holidays for me aromatically for several years now. As much as I love the gingerbread and eggnog lattes in december, I stretch out the pumpkin spice weeks as long as I can. It is both a pro and con that this drink is seasonal...I feel free to thoroughly indulge during the weeks it is here. And it is great high-fat or non-fat, with or without whip...add nutmeg and cinnamon to taste....

This is the first of four of their soups that I've tried. It is delicious. Beautiful texture, color, and flavor. Serves 2-3 with every 32oz box. I love that I can reseal and refrigerate the box if I'm eating alone. This soup dresses up very well for company....

These are great cookies. They are crispy without being dry. The frosting is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy, and they use just the right amount so it doesn't overwhelm the cookie. But you can't leave them in the car, since the heat melts the frosting. I love the individual package that allows me to drop one in my purse....

This is a stand alone stuffing mix that eliminates all the less appealing aspects of using a mix in the first place... it is not mushy or bland... and it is easy. Even better the package includes a variety of wonderful suggestions to customize the recipe. This is great for those of us who like the more creative aspects of cooking but lack the fundamental (and patience for starting at the beginning). The package comes with the dried cranberries, bread crumbs and seasoning, and basic instructions that take 5 minutes to accomplish. But they suggest optional addition of things like nuts, other dried fruit, and crispy vegetables that will withstand cooking. I added walnuts, granny smith apples, and golden raisens. Later I went back to the store for several more bags in case they are in short supply after the holidays....

This is a great, slightly different apple. Their hot pink tint looks slightly surreal. Their taste is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Their texture is wonderful whether refrigerated or kept on the counter. If I could grow apples this one would be truly worthwhile....

Dr Hoefer is a wonderfully insightful and compassionate vet. She worked with a first-time patient (12 yr old conure to be adopted through the Long Island Parrot Society) as one might a child, demonstrating the light on herself then on the bird, moving slowly and talking calmly.

Drs Latney and Mehlrose have been spectacular treating my white cockatiel for feather plucking (following massive feather loss in a night fright). They've tailored the treatment process to compensate for the extreme determination of this very small bird. And we have near complete feather regrowth in 6 weeks.

My teen-aged niece introduced me to Pink Berry frozen yogurt last week. I had mine with raspberries, almonds, and bananas. She had strawberries, coconut, and pineapple. Everybody in line was raving about what they had the last visit, what they would have this time, and how much they loved their Pink Berry addiction. They also make shakes and smoothies.

This camera was recommended by a friend for its large viewing screen and stabilization feature. I purchased it as a gift for my parents (mom is the shutterbug) as their first digital camera. They were intimidated by the box. But once I got them to open it, they discovered the instructions were easy to follow. As an added bonus, they could begin to use the camera immediately using just a few of the features, learning about and incorporating more features as they go along.
