lynndublin says "jump right in" about The Immortal Highlander

The Immortal Highlander is one of a series involving time travel, magic, romance and characters to fall in love with. This series appears to have ended more the pity. I have them all and go back for a re read when I need a dose of magic in my life.

You cannot go wrong with Ms Moning unless you are a total cynic. Her new BLOOD series is far darker but just as fascinating. Cannot wait for the third in the series.
...

lynndublin says "Fantasy fun, but not for everyone" about The Golden Compass

Cannot wait for this sequel. I think this ranks up there with Narnia and, yes, even Lord of the Rings.

It is a bit dark and violent and I would not recommend for children under eight. The scenes of battle are fierce and the captures of the children would scare the young ones in the family.

However, the characters are interesting. The visuals are great. The special affects were very good. And I saw nothing to upset my Christian ethics! Comparable universes are not a new concept. If one looks to the night skies how can one not accept the existance of other realms.

Setting up the sequel is not a CON in this instance. We will need another movie to defeat the Ministerium! Bring it on
...

lynndublin says "stay away from this program" about Microsoft Vista Home Premium

The week Vista became available I purchased a brand new Dell with Vista Built In. I have come to regret it!

It does not operate any faster than Windows XP. It challenges every move I make, as though I am stupid and need guidance. I cannot use programs that came on the Dell because Vista does "not accept" them.

I am seriously thinking of replacing the whole thing with a MAC!
...
