llisa says "If all history were taught this way, kids would learn more." about John Adams

True to the book. Could have explained Adams's and Jefferson's falling out a little better, but all-in-all, a terrific portrayal of the times surrounding our war for independence and the founding of our country. Does a much better job of explaining history than those boring "name and date and moving-right-along" history books we teach our kids from. Lets us know that the founding fathers were real people with flaws and families, and that they were individuals, never all of one...

llisa says "Don't bother sending rebate forms to this company." about On Rebate

On Rebate put a rebate form online for a $40 rebate on Trend Micro Internet Security. The form did not state that the product had to be purchased through any particular vendor. — — I ordered it from amazon.com, and when preparing to send in for the rebate, I saw that my product's UPC number differed from the only UPC number that the form said is acceptable. — — When I called On Rebate to ask about this, the woman said the product had to be purchased from Fry's. I told her the rebate form does not say that. She told me ALL the $40 rebate forms say that. I told her I was holding one in my hand that did not state that the product had to come from a particular company. She told me it didn't exist. I asked her how can I prove that it does. She said, "Submit the rebate. But it will be rejected, because the UPC is different than the one on the form because you didn't buy it at Fry's." !!???!!! — —...

llisa says "I'm baking more, and loving it!" about Kitchen Aid Mixer

I always thought my little Sunbeam was good enough. After all, I didn't bake that often. but, when my 3rd Sunbeam bit the dust, I finally caved in and bought a Kitchen Aid. — — And then I took cake decorating classes because I had a mixer that was terrific and fun to use. And then I bought one for my daughter, and she bakes more often now and is always taking sweet treats to work and has learned new recipes and experiments with healthy ingredients. — — Anyway, I LOVE this thing! Should have bought one years ago. It was worth the...

llisa says "Left smears and fuzzies on glass." about SC Johnson Windex Wipes Glass and Surface

I bought these only because they were on sale (BOGO). I was not impressed. — — It seemed like a good idea for a glass cabinet that I have. I can't spray glass cleaner directly on it for fear of damaging the finish on the wood, so these looked perfect. But, they left smears and little fuzzies on the glass. So, ended up doing what I always do, spraying a paper towel and wiping down the glass. — — I like Windex in the spray bottle, but you can keep these useless things. — ...

llisa says "Do NOT order anything from these people!" about Today's Concept

I ordered three electric "walk around" can openers from Today's concept. One can opener arrived very quickly, but the enclosed receipt said there were three, and that my order was complete. — — I emailed Today's Concept to let them know I only received one. I got an email in response saying that the problem would be investigated. — — A week later, I emailed Today's Concept with a photo of the box that the ONE can opener arrived in (label clearly showing) with the can opener box sitting on top. This was to show that the shipping box could not have contained more than the one can opener. I restated that I had only received one, though I had ordered and paid for three, and that they had not yet answered my previous enquiry. — — I have not heard back from them. I have emailed them twice since. I tried calling twice, but no one answered the phone, even though it was during the hours stated on the website and on the phone answering message. ...

llisa says "I've bought all kinds of things from amazon.com. " about Amazon.com

I love amazon.com. I have an amazon.com VISA card (which we pay off monthly), and last year I got my daughter a Kitchen Aid mixer that (with VISA reward gift certificates, rebates, and online coupons) I got for $49--AND I got a free attachment which was a special only through Am.com that week. — — Last week, I took all the change that had been gathering in a basket for two years at our house to a Coin Star machine. If you trade your coins in for amazon gift certificates, there is no fee for the service. And, they were giving out $10 a.com coupons with $30 worth of coins run through the machine. With those certificates, online coupons, free shipping, and VISA reward coupons, today I got a Canon digital camera (value almost $400) for $20.30. — — I have bought lots of things through amazon.com (even with actual money) and have not had any problems. I have never had to return anything, so I can't speak to any difficulties that...

llisa says "Unclogs your drain in seconds. . . No kidding!" about Zip-It

Zip-It is a flexible plastic rod with little barb-like things sticking out all over it. You just insert it as far as it will go into your drain, and slowly pull it out. It pulls out hair and any other gunk attached to it. Then you just throw it (and all the nasties) away. — — We had a slow drain in the bathtub for ages. We had tried chemical ceansers and fishing down there with a bent coat hanger. I just ran across this on a plumbing site and thought it couldn't hurt to give it a try. — — It was just $2.00 at the hardware store, and saved us a bundle, since our next step was going to be to call a plumber. — — I would recommend that you keep one of these (still safely in its package) in every bathroom. —...

llisa says "worth every penny" about Kitchen Aide silicon spatulas

I ordered the first of my three Kitchen Aide spatula/scrapers only because it was on sale. I was so happy with it, I ordered two more for myself and two for each of my daughters. They scrape every little bit of cake mix, cookie dough, etc. out of the mixing bowl, come in several different shapes for different jobs, fit my hand perfectly, and do not twist and turn while I am trying to work. — — They have sayed white and supple with not breaking or tearing for over two years. My cheaper wooden-handled ones did not last that long before beginning to crack up. — — I love these things. — — —...
