liu1121 says "Affordable, high quality food and wine in a cool space." about Quartino Ristorante - Chicago, IL

Quartino's is literally my wife and I's most frequented restaurant in Chicago, of course it doesn't hurt that we live across the street. We love this place because first, the food is fantastic. Portions are smaller (but are priced appropriately) and there is no traditional coursing, the food's brought out when its ready. People are encouraged to share their dishes (plenty of sharing plates are left on the table). While the portions are smaller, you can still probably eat yourself pretty full with 2-3 dishes for two people. Though we've been pretty happy with everything that we've ordered, we usually end up ordering the same thing. Taglitelle Bolognese and the Popeye pizza. Popeye has fresh spinach on top (so it's added after the pizza has been cooked), they do this with a lot of their pizzas and greens (i think they have arugala on others), so you can convince yourself that the pizza is actually "healthy". That's because when you eat greens, it actually negates the calories......

liu1121 says "Oysy is good, dependable sushi in a convenient location." about Oysy - Chicago, IL

My wife and I frequent Oysy because, honestly, its the closest Sushi place to our apartment. It's good dependable sushi served in a semi-trendy atmosphere and not too expensive. We usually are able to get a seat pretty quickly too. We've tried some of the non-sushi items before and haven't been blown away (Miso glazed cod, spinach salad, agedashi tofu), so i would suggest staying with the rolls and sushi, and maybe one hot dish, if you're hungry and need something different.

I don't think Oysy will blow you away, but you won't be dissapointed either.
...

liu1121 says "Best Chicago style deep dish" about Lou Malnati's - Chicago, IL

In my opinion, Lou Malnati's is the best Chicago stye deep dish around. Of course, i'm a relative novice when it comes to this stuff, having just moved out here half a year ago, but i've found their crust to be the right consistency of crunchy and flavorful (i think it's called a butter crust). Also their thin crust pizza is not bad either (and you don't have to wait as long for it to cook). Much better than Gino's East, Due, etc. Definitely my favorite deep dish in the city....

liu1121 says "Great atmosphere and ambiance, but mediocre food." about one sixtyblue - Chicago, IL

Came to one sixtyblue for restaurant week with my wife and a friend who were both excited about coming here because it had gotten great reviews on Yelp. We all ordered off the restaurant week menus, so that's a little context for you. I got the leek gnocchi appetizer, which was actually pretty good, while my two dining companions ordered the gumbo. Gumbo was extremely salty and both of them did not finish their portions, when you're not finishing appetizers for an 8:30 dinner reservation, you know its not good. Main courses were also dissapointing. I got the Hanger steak, which was dryer than i wanted (even though it was medium rare). My dining partners got the salmon which was standard salmon and chicken which tasted dry and uninspiring. Dessert was good, homemade sorbets for me and i can't remember what everybody else got.

The dining room is actually pretty big and spacious, filled with young folks going out for a nice night on the town. We had a great table by the window......
