laurakristin72 says "Wonderful for newborn and young infants!" about Moby Wrap

I loved the Moby Wrap when my son was a newborn. Its stretchy, soft material held my baby close to me, while leaving my hands free to deal with my 3 year old! I have always been a bit scared of traditional guaze wraps, but the Moby is so easy to use. I mastered it in about an hour. I carried my baby everywhere in this wrap and I was often stopped by strangers asking where they could buy one because it looked so comfortable. It is comfortable for both baby and parent and because there's no size or straps to adjust, both parents can use it without annoying each other by changing the settings. I agree that this is most effective with the younger or smaller babies, around 20 lbs it started hurting my back....

laurakristin72 says "This is the absolute best baby carrier there is!" about Beco Baby Carrier

The Beco is the best baby carrier that I have tried. And I have tried at least 10 kinds of carriers. I have had 2 back surgeries so I have to be very careful of my back and I can wear my baby (20 lbs right now) for up to 3 hours with no back pain at all. The reason for this is that this carrier distributes the baby's weight over the hips, shoulders, and back so that no one body part does all the work. I also like that this carrier is pretty, not just plain black or navy like so many. It comes in a variety of colors and patterns. Another advantage is that you can use this carrier from newborn to 45 lbs so you don't have to buy another carrier when your baby reaches 25 lbs like so many of the carriers out there. It does take a few days to figure out how to adjust the straps to get the best fit, but once you've done that it is very easy and quick to use....

laurakristin72 says "Easy and effective for occasional pumping" about Avent Isis Manual Breast Pump

This breast pump has served me well for almost 4 years. I use it to pump several times a week and it works out well. It takes a few tries to figure out how to put it together, but after that you could do it in your sleep. It works well and quickly. You can wash it in your dishwasher so you don't have to worry about all that hand washing. It's handy if you want to express a quick bottle or if you want to pump each day to build up a supply in the freezer. I would definately recommend this pump to any mom who is breastfeeding so she can have someone feed the baby/child a bottle and she can get a little time away.

I would not recommend this to the full time out of home working mom. She would need something more powerful and hands free.
...

laurakristin72 says "Safe if used correctly, but nearly impossible to do so." about Evenflo Triumph 5

I bought this car seat for 2 reasons: Consumer Reports gave it a good rating and it was inexpensive. I have been very dissapointed with this seat. It is difficult to install tightly enough that it stays absolutely still and if you do manage to do that, it is nearly impossible to remove it from the car again. Also the straps are difficult to loosen and tighten so it is tempting to just put the child in and not worry too much if the straps are too loose. Of course this could spell disaster in a car crash, but let's face it, sometimes when we are running behind we aren't doing our best thinking. The bottom line is that if the seat is used correctly it is extremely safe, but it is very hard to use correctly....

laurakristin72 says "Buy it - it's worth the high price!" about Britax Roundabout

The Britex Roundabout is well worth the money you pay. It is one of the highest ranked car seats on Consumer Reports for safety. It is easy to install and use and can easily be transferred from one car to another without all the hassle. The latch buckles are well designed and operate like a seat belt rather than a hook like many other latch car seats. It is also a very comfortable seat with lots of padding. It's so comfortable that my daughter would fall asleep and have a nice nap when we were driving places....
