kff894 says "Forget it." about George Foreman GR10AWHT Indoor Grill

If enjoying the food you eat is one of your priorities, skip this thing. It's fine for reducing the fat intake, sure, but still not worth it. It does not get hot enough to sear in the flavor of a steak (no matter how lean), a pork chop if cooked thoroughly turns out tough and dry, and even hot dogs bark their protest. And, personally, not being able to put the surface plates into the dishwasher for a good cleaning and sterilizing from time to time is another downer. Wanna-know how many owners cherish their grill? -- do a quick search on eBay and see how many are trying to get rid of them, or check out next weekend's tag sales. ...

kff894 says "a fine little friend in the kitchen" about Proctor Silex model 72500R

This little chopper may be small, but it's powerful and even its size makes it sooo handy! When all you really want is to chop up some onions, meat for a salad sandwich, or such, there's no need to hesitate because it's just the right size, it's quick and efficient, and can be popped easily into the diswasher without hogging up that overused top rack. And if there's a bigger job, no problem -- just do more than one batch. Highly...

kff894 says "a single lady's best friend" about Black & Decker JW400 Lids Off Open-It-All Center

When my son gave me my 'Lift-Off' as a Christmas present, I pretended to be pleased but was secretly thinking "Oh, great, another fancy appliance, now where am I going to find a place to put this thing?" Well, I found a place to put it, all right, and am I happy with it. I works effortlessly, I use it much more often than I would ever have imagined (instead of struggling with one of those virtually useless handheld gizmos), and it's worth every square inch of counter space. As an elderly widow, let me tell you: it's as handy as having a strong-armed man around the house but costs less and is a whole lot less trouble to maintain, it never complains, and it's always ready to...

kff894 says "My best toaster oven yet" about Hamilton Beach Extra Large Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking

Since toaster ovens first appeared, I've probably owned and used over a dozen -- this one is the best one yet, and I'm really pleased with the purchase. It was reasonably priced, it's a nice practical size, has all the control settings needed, and is easier to clean than most. One of the most irritating problems with many such ovens is that they won't accomodate average baking dishes; this one not only comes with its own pan and rack, most ordinary baking dishes will also fit. In fact, I've actually baked entire meals (for one person) at one time, which pleases my frugal nature. There is a pull-out crumb/drip tray which is easily scoured at the sink or even slipped into the dishwasher. I've had this oven for about a year, used it at least once every day, and hope it lasts for many more years; when it's outlived its natural life I will definitely shop Hamilton Beach for another just like it. You notice no negative comments in...

kff894 says "Handy and amusing to watch in use" about One Touch Can Opener

On the whole, I do like this can opener -- but there are a couple of negatives to note. It says 'one touch' to get the thing going; it's never been less than three pushes on the start button. It works, mostly, going around the can rim until it turns itself off, and most of the time the can top really is removed. Not always; about 1 out of 4 times, the lid is still fastened to the can and more action is needed. When it does work, however, it's great; you can get it started, go do something else while it scoots around, and just lift the lid off with the magnet when you're ready to dump what's in the can. Easy to store, easy to use, and worth the money. I just wish it was a bit more...

kff894 says "This is handy and efficient but too expensive to run." about Dell 926 All in One

My Dell 4-in-one came with my new computer as part of a total package. I like the 4-in-one very much and would love to be able to use its features more freely. However, using it as a printer or copier is ridiculous because of the prohibitive cost of the printer cartridges -- you can't refill them, and generic substitutes won't work. There must be a chip or something in the cartridges so that if you remove one to try refilling or replacing it with anything other than an authentic Dell cartridge the unit refuses to function. BUT (and this is what disturbs me no end) buying those cartridges directly from Dell is overly expensive. Doesn't that mean that Dell has control over your buying? Isn't that illegal? Doesn't that at least hint at monopoly? I have resorted to doing all my printing on a little Lexmark that I purchased from Wal-Mart for practically peanuts, that allows me to refill its cartridges, and does that one job just...
