kentuckyvickie says "I don't love it, but I live with it" about Dish network

I live too far out in the country to get regular cable, so it's satellite or nothing. I used to have C-Band satellite, which I loved, but it just isn't practical when you have 3 people in the house that all want to watch different things, because you can only watch one thing at a time.

Things I hate about Dish network:

Way too expensive
No signal when it rains hard (which it does a lot here in Florida)
Customer Service stinks. If you need to call tech support or customer service, you might as well dedicate an entire afternoon to the process.

Things I like about Dish Network:

Reception is great (except in rainstorms).
The DVRs
All the service people that have come to my home have been great (the folks on the phone could take a lesson from these guys).
...

kentuckyvickie says "Everything was fine until we forgot the password" about NetZero Internet Service

The NetZero service was fine. I only have two complaints.

First, my son changed the password and promptly forgot it. In order to find out what your password is, you have to call Technical Support, which costs you $1.95/minute. That really annoyed me.

Second, canceling the service after we switched to high speed was quite an ordeal. You have to do it over the phone and the wait was endless. At least they didn't charge for the call.

I have experience with AOL, NetZero, and PeoplePC as dial-up providers. I think PeoplePC is superior to the other two.
...

kentuckyvickie says "Great location, great service, and clean, comfortable rooms." about Hampton Inn & Suites Amelia Island - Fernandina Beach, FL

This Hampton Inn & Suites has a lot going for it. The location, right in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, is perfect. You can walk to the marina, shops, and a wide variety of restaurants. The room was large and comfortable with a huge whirlpool bathtub. I wondered for a moment if I had mistakenly been given a honeymoon suite, but apparently the tub is standard. The service was excellent and the free breakfast offers a wide variety of items. Plus, the hotel is quite attractive, not your standard cookie-cutter Hampton Inn.

I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend this hotel to friends.
...

kentuckyvickie says "A great place, but don't go when the seasons change" about Hilton Milwaukee City Center - Milwaukee, WI

I liked almost everything about this hotel. The room was large and comfortable, they offered free wireless internet access, the location was great with an enclosed walkway to the convention center, and there are three good places to eat on the premises - 4 if you count Starbucks. The service was excellent, as well.

I have only 2 complaints. First, the hotel's heating/cooling system can only be operated in 1 mode at a time and to change from one to the other requires intervention on the part of the hotel engineering staff. So, if you happen to arrive, like I did, on the eve of the season's first cold snap, you can't just dial up the heat when the temperature dips into the 40's because the system is still set up to provide air conditioning. My first night was cool, but not unpleasant. My second night was downright cold. I pulled the comforter off the 2nd bed and put on mine to stay warm.

Second, there were only a few TV channels available. This drives me nuts and it is so common. If you......

kentuckyvickie says "Good for students, bad for parents" about Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College

My son attended ABAC. He got a good education, liked most of his teachers, and was successful.

As a parent, I hated ABAC. I never once dealt with a school offical or employee that didn't turn out to be a big ordeal. They couldn't get anything right. The financial aid office was a disaster. They made a huge mess of my son's student loan application and he ended up getting money from a lender he hadn't even applied to, while the lender he had applied to canceled his application because they never got the documents they needed from the school.

Just paying his tuition was a hassle - and you'd think they would make it easy to give them money. They dopn't send out invoices by mail. Instead, they say check your account and pay via the web site. But the web site is about as user unfriendly as could be and one semester they didn't get around to posting the total tuition and fees due for the semester until about 3 days before they were due! Twice I ended up having to pay his tuition over......
