jonahbeast says "A nice hotel for business or holiday" about Island Pacific hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong

The Island Pacific Hotel is a good choice for both business and vacation travelers. Rooms are a bit small--but that's normal in Hong Kong. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has an English speaking staff who will cater to your every need and are knowledgable about the city. The hotel is located in Western district, in a typical Chinese neighborhood. The streets surrounding the hotel are filled with small shops and restaurants where you can get an inexpensive and delicious meal. Several trams stop just a block from the hotel, so getting around is easy. The hotel offers internet (extra charge) and has a restaurant. The restaurant is expensive compared to the local eateries just outside the door....

jonahbeast says "Great way to spend a fun and relaxing weekend." about Nashville, Indiana

Nashville Indiana is a small town located in the heart of Brown County, in Southern Indiana. The town and county have a long-standing tradition as an artist's community and the town is filled with unique shops--100 or more shops to browse through. Many are local artist's shops and you can watch artists at work in various media--glass work, metal, jewelry making, weaving and fiber arts, pottery, etc. Besides the artist's shops there are several nice gift shops where you can find unique items. The town is small (about 800 residents) but it's bursting with things to do. Many nights, especially weekends, there are 6 or 8 venues offering live music. There are a couple of wineries in town that offer wine tasting and there's at least a dozen good restaurants in various price ranges.

If you want to venture out of town the surrounding area is beautiful. It's heavily wooded and there are nice hiking and camping areas in Brown County State Park (just a mile or two from town) or in Yellowwood State...
...

jonahbeast says "A lovely and relaxing getaway" about Brown County State Park

If you are looking for a relaxing, family friendly get-away in Southern Indiana then Brown County State Park is the place to go. The park offers something for everyone--Lots of natural beauty, hiking trails that range from short and easy to challenging, horseback riding, camping, a nature center, swimming (in season, though the lodge is in the process of installing a year-round water park.)

For folks who don't like to camp there is a lodge in the park and also some very swanky family cabins that sleep 8 or more.
...

jonahbeast says "Expensive, but worth it." about London Eye

Located along the Thames river in the South Bank area, the London Eye is the largest ferris wheel in the world. On a clear day you can see as far as Windsor Castle, 25 miles away. As London isn't known for its clear days, you might more reasonably expect to see things a bit closer! Though the tickets are rather expensive this is worth experiencing. As the wheel makes a slow revolution you are carried 135 meters into the air. The view of London is wonderful. I've ridden the wheel at night, on lovely sunny days, and even in the rain and every time I've enjoyed it.

Before or after your ride you can explore the South Bank. The wheel is located close to House of Parliment, Westminster Abbey, and the Millenium bridges. Plus the whole area attracts street artists.
...

jonahbeast says "A great way to spend a fun afternoon with friends." about London's Vinopolis Wine Museum

Vinopolis is a wonderful way to pass a lazy afternoon with friends. This 'wine museum' offers a unique museum experience. Visitors choose from a range of ticket prices and receive a number of wine tastings, based on which ticket they buy. As you pass through the museum learning about the history of wine and how it's made you come upon 'tasting tables' where you can exchange a tasting ticket and try a wine of your choice. The selection is outstanding and there are wines from all parts of the world. Some of the more expensive tickets also include beer and whiskey tastings and you can attend a class on how to taste wine properly.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because London has so many wonderful attractions. If it's your first visit to London and you're only going to stay for a couple of days then Vinopolis wouldn't be my recommendation. For those who visit London frequently, or if you're burned out on historical sights, Vinopolis makes for a great change of pace for...
...

jonahbeast says "The most beautiful place I've ever been..." about Croatia

The first time I visited Croatia it was still part of the former Yugoslavia. No one spoke English, the communist government had minimum currency exchange requirements and the bus drivers careened down the highways drinking hard liquor as they drove. Despite the challenges I loved the area and for nearly 20 years I told my spouse that the coastline was one of the most beautiful places I'd ever been (which is saying a lot because I travel a LOT). Recently we visited Croatia together and I was pleased to find that it's still a place of beauty and the former challenges are gone. The buses were on time and felt very safe. The countryside was spotless. The people were courteous and many of them spoke English. The only real drawback for me is that Croatia is rapidly "being discovered". Lovely little cities like Dubrovnik, which used to be considered an 'out of the way' destination are now overrun with tourists. However, there are beautiful fishing villages where you might well be the only visitor......
