jkellogg says "Sylvania compact florescent bulbs do not last" about Sylvania compact florescent light bulbs

To save energy and save some money on the electric bill, we completely replaced the normal light bulbs in our house with compact florescent bulbs. We used mostly Sylvania compact florescent bulbs. To date, over twenty five of them have blown out already. On the packaging Sylvania claimed that the bulbs would last for five years, but we have averaged less than six months per bulb before the blubs blew out and needed to be replaced. We contacted the company, and they said they were surprised that the bulbs did not last longer and sent us five more bulbs (all of which have since burned out). They were pollite, but since these bulbs are much more than regular light bulbs we certainly expected that they would last longer than a regular bulb. We really like the idea of saving energy and money, so we are not giving up on all compact florescent bulbs, just those from sylvania and their other brand, bright effects. We have switched to Costco's compact florescent bulbs and have not had any problems...
...

jkellogg says "whirlpool duet washer and dryer have been nothing but trouble" about Whirlpool Duet - Washer Dryer

We bought the Whirlpool duet clothes washer and dryer a few years ago; we were excited about the energy savings, greater capacity, and use of less water than top loading washers like our old washer was. In the last few years, the washer handle has broken; the latch that closes the washer door broke; the washer drum got stuck; the dryer caught fire because of lint that was collecting inside the base of the dryer, the internal computer had to be replaced, and washer drainage stopped working. We called Whirlpool's cutomer service for all these problems, and after a long wait, they told us that none of these problems were covered by the warranty; they wre not at all polite. We have spend about $600 on service calls since we bought the duet set; the same repairperson has been out a number of times, and he told us that the duets all seem to have similiar problems. We wish we had kept our old kenmore washer and dryer.
...

jkellogg says "Verizon is not loyal to loyal customers" about Verizon - Cellular Phone

We have been customers of Verizon for over nine years. Verizon was okay until my wife recently lost her phone and we wanted to replace the phone with a smart phone that would sync with her Outlook calandar. The network coverage was about average. We were fine with them until we tried to replace the lost phone. We wanted a smart phone, and they were clearly only interested in trying to sell us the most expensive plan and phone. We told the sales representative that we needed a phone that would allow us to do scheduling by syncing with our computer, but that we did not need internet service. They claimed that they did not offer any plan for their smart phones that did not include internet access (at $30 extra per month per person). Since that would have more than doubled our current monthly bill, we switched to AT&T and are paying less now with our smart phones than we were with regular flip phones from Verizon.
...

jkellogg says "dish network will delete the saved programs on your DVR" about Dish network

We were happy with dish network for awhile, but they and their DVR equipment let us down. We had dish netowrk wuth a DVR for 4 years. About one and half years ago our dish and DVR locked up for about 2 hours as dish network was sending a software update and when it finally responded again, the DVR was blank; all the programs that we had recorded wre deleted. When we called dish network they said that it was an equipment problem and they they would send a new DVR. They told us that their update was not the cause of our DVR getting wiped. We accepted that explanation at the time. Just a few weeks ago it happened again as they were sending a software update. They again said it was the equipment; we didn't believe them and told them that we didn't believe them. They told us that we shouldn't be so concerned about the contents of our DVR and should VCR tape record anything we want to keep for more than 24 hours. We decided it was time to get rid of dish network.
...

jkellogg says "this Dormia Ultimate mattress and company suck" about Dormia ultimate

The ultimate memory foam/latex mattress from Dormia is the worst purchase we have ever made. The company lied to us from the moment we went into thier showroom. We ended up buying online because the salesperson in the store was such a jerk to us on our second visit to the store (he had been very friendly on our first visit). The offer we purchased was to include a pillow and matress pad. We have never recieved the matress pad after repeated calls to their customer service, and repeated promises that it was backordered. We found out that they had filed for bankruptcy and their matress pad supplier would not give them any more product.

The worst part of the situation in that once we got the mattress, it started to sag within 3 weeks; and has been getting progressively worse ever since. We have spent the last year trying to get them to honor thier warranty (a 20 year warranty - touted to us as the best in the business because their product was so good). They still have not honored their...
...
