halofreak says "Excellent horror game." about Capcom - PS2 - Resident Evil 4

What is there to say about Resident Evil 4? Let's start by talking about the controls. The method of movement are tank-like, which might be a turn-off for some, but in truth it actually adds to the tension and the atmosphere. It is one of the rare few games that can do what this game does and still win me over. The graphics are really quite good for a mid-generation PS2 game, and even hold up against some today's games. Hit detection is well done. When the parasites burst out of the Ganados, I freak out. The story is really well written. The fact that you can upgrade your weapons and buy new ones is, as always, a welcome feature as all enemies gain invisible bullet-proof vests. The constricted ammo supply stays trye to the survival/horror genre, making this game all the more exciting. The sound track is possibly the best of all horror games I've ever played. It really makes the game's atmosphere the best in the genre. I dare you to try and find a better one. Lastly, there's the games replay...
...

halofreak says "Freaky." about Condemned: Criminal Origins for Xbox 360

Condemned: Criminal Origins is first-person horror game. Only unlike many other horror games that i've played, it has a large emphasis on melee combat. The gunplay is severely limited due to the fact that your character (Ethan Thomas) is incapable of carrying ammo of any kind. you can check your ammo by simply looking at the clip and knowing through some innate clairvoyance (which also somehow allows you to solve crimes) how many rounds that you have left. The story is a bit confusing, something about a cult and the fact that you are semi-psycic and the only one that can stop them for someodd reason. Other than these things, the game is actually pretty good. The game's atmosphere is so spooky and intense that i do not recommend playing this alone and in the dark, although in order to get the full effect this (with the addition of surround sound) is a necessity. The enemy AI is well done. They are meant to instill a sense of fear and they do it well. The games sound will have you jumping......

halofreak says "Great RPG." about BioWare - Mass Effect

Let's start with my favorite part of any game: the story. Leave it to BioWare to make a game with an absolutely amazing story full of twists and turns, especially at the end. The game allows you the freedom necessary to truly be yourself and ignore a people's cry for help, save an entire planet, or whatever else you wish to do. The ability to customize your weapons is, as always, present and is incredibly helpful. The only thing this game is missing is multiplayer.
...

halofreak says "HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!" about 2K - BioShock

This game is amazing! The lighting is really well done. The water effects will make you drool. The combat is somewhat sporatic, which helps keep you on your toes for the majority of the game. The enemy AI is aggresssive, but in a good way. It makes for really good fights. The ability to upgrade your weapons is a welcome feature, as even the standard enemies seem to get tougher as the game progresses. The game is not without its flaws, though. The hacking mini-game is more reminiscent of a plumbing mess than the internal workings of a machine. Med kits are ******* everywhere, which takes the edge off of the game. But, the biggest flaw in my opinion is the Vita-Chambers. With these, death is a thing of the past. If you "die", you simply reappear at the nearest chamber with half life, all your guns, the same amount of ammo that you had when you "died", and the in-game situation is exactly the same as when you died. This in turn eliminates the need to approach battles with a sense of caution.......

halofreak says "Army of Two has really great co-op." about EA Games - Army of Two

Army of Two has some of the most fun co-op play I've experienced. The name says it all. It was built from the ground up with multiplayer in mind. This, of course, also has a negetive effect. The AI for your partner when playing in single player leaves much to be desired. Getting him to regroup can be a hassle, as well as getting him to realize that enemy bullets are something to be avoided. The enemy AI is pretty good, although a bit on the aggressive side. The armored enemies encourage teamwork in that you need have one person distract him while the other fills his ass full of hot lead. This brings me to my final point: the games use of aggro. The enemies will focus on the player they percieve to be the biggest threat, which is determined by who does the most killing or whoever has the biggest gun....
