geomodel says "Going Ballistic over Columbia Titanium" about Columbia Titanium Ballistic Jacket

I'm tired of being cold. This winter seems to have lasted forever so far, you know what I mean? I'm lucky in that my S.O. makes sure I don't end up dug out of a snow drift in May by supplying me with plenty of warm clothes. My Columbia Titanium Ballistic jacket is part of that program: a nice, form-fitting fleece that can serve by itself or as part of a layered system. — The jacket's made of a windproof microfleece, with ballistic nylon twill on the shoulders to make it more water- and abrasion-resistant. The elbows have those same nylon patches, and also have extra fabric for full articulation. That increases range of motion for extreme sports fans. It has two large, zippered patch pockets on the front; plenty big enough to warm my hands, plus a third security pocket on the chest that's just right for a cell phone or wallet. It has nice, long pit zips for additional ventilation if I need to shed excess heat, and a stand-up collar to protect my neck and chin on windy...

geomodel says "Wipe Me with a Snot Spot!" about Snot Spot

Supposedly, men's jackets have buttons on the sleeves because Napoleon got tired of watching soldiers wipe their noses on their sleeves. Whether that's true or not, anyone who spends much time outdoors in the cold is familiar with those little yellow icicles that form at the tip of your nose. Wipe it on your sleeve? Have you paid to have a winter coat dry-cleaned lately? Wipe it on your glove? Ummmm, gross... — There's a solution: Snot Spot! This triangular swatch of soft fleece is exactly what the doctor ordered for runny-nose days. There's a loop at one end to fit around a finger and a loop at the other to fit around your wrist, providing a soft surface for that quick swipe across your upper lip. The fleece is almost self-cleaning - a few minutes later, there's almost no sign that you ever used it. If it gets too icky for your tastes, you can wash it by hand in the sink - it dries in a couple of hours - or throw it in the washer with your socks. — Snot Spot's available...

geomodel says "Stephen King Returns to Horror, and That's a Good(?) Thing" about Stephen King - Duma Key

Life can change forever in the time it takes to blink. Edgar Freemantle's life hung a U-turn in a gruesome accident on his own construction site. The unfortunate intersection scrambled his brain, crushed his hip, and left his right arm somewhere under a 100-ton crane. Six months later, Edgar's partially rehabilitated but fully divorced. That's when his shrink suggests he take up a hobby. "I used to draw a little," he mused. — Life can change forever in time it takes to blink, or it can take longer: Edgar may have thought the changes were done, but he was wrong. — Leaving Minnesota's ice and snow behind; Edgar takes up residence at an isolated Florida beach house he dubs "Big Pink." Somehow his temporary quarters become his Muse: his first night there he begins to draw, and then to paint; works of a power he'd had no sense dwelt in him. It's as if something in the accident jarred loose a torrent inside that unquiet brain; his art pours off him like some sort of...

geomodel says "You Need a Bent Nail to Push The Buttons" about Casio - G-Shock GW300 Atomic Solar Watch

Though my watch is just called a G-Shock GW300, Casio, breaks down its watches even further with model numbers. Mine's a model 2608 if you're keeping track. Two other models are lumped under the GW300 heading, the 2638 and 2688. Those two have all the same functions but slightly different faces. There are also a black version with red trim and a blue-black version with blue trim. — — Description: This is a digital watch with solar power and "atomic timekeeping." There's a solar cell embedded in the watch's face, which keeps the internal battery charged when exposed to light. That "atomic timekeeping" thing doesn't mean that it has a tiny nuclear reactor in it, it just means that it receives a signal from the US Naval Observatory's atomic clock to keep it set correctly. This particular watch is built like a Jeep thinks it is: shockproof and water-resistant to 200 meters — The watch case is large - an inch and a half across and about 3/8 inch thick, with a heavy...
