When I was pregnant, I started collecting books for the boy I knew I was going to have. By the time he was one year old, he was really into reading, so his collection of books was quite large. Besides his animal books which are his favorite, his other most requested read was for Mommy's Little Boy. A book about a little boy questioning whether he will always be his mother's "little boy", even if he gets older.

The book shows the little boy, "Robbie", helping his mom with things like cooking in the kitchen, setting the table for dinner and taking the dog for a walk. It also shows Mommy playing in the park with Robbie and getting ice cream.

One of the reasons why my son loves the book, Mommy's Little Boy, is because the mommy and Robbie take their dog with them everywhere they go. My son loves to point out the dog on each page!

I don't have a lot of frizz, but I do get a lot of fly-aways when I flat iron my hair and wear it down. I usually wear a ponytail, so I don't have to worry about it very often, but when I do wear my hair down, I want it to look smooth and shiny, and that's what Redken Outshine 01 Anti-Frizz Polishing Milk does for the most part.

The consistency of this product is a little thicker than lotion. The directions say you can apply it to either dry or damp hair, but I only use it on my dry hair. I'll blow dry my hair, then flat iron it, then apply Redken Outshine 01 Anti-Frizz Polishing Milk to smooth things out. I squirt a small amount in my hands and after rubbing them together, I glide my hands over my hair very lightly. The end result is shiny, smooth hair that isn't weighed down at all. This polishing milk, does fight the frizz, but it doesn't totally tame all my fly-aways, probably because this formula is really light.

Something I make for a dinner a lot is BBQ beef sandwiches. I cook a large roast in a crock-pot for hours, then shred it and pour BBQ sauce all over it. Over the years, I have tried many BBQ sauces including one I like quite well, KC Masterpiece Original Barbecue Sauce, but my absolute favorite is still Cattlemen's Classic Barbecue Sauce.

The label on the back of the bottle says: "Year after year, Cattlemen's BBQ Sauce has been the #1 choice of professional chefs and the secret behind award winning BBQ at the World Championship Barbecue contest at Memphis in May."

Cattlemen's makes several varieties of barbecue sauce, but my favorite is "classic". I haven't tried all their flavors, but "classic" is so perfect, I can't imagine anything else being better. I'm always trying to find products that are both eco-friendly and effective. It seems like most eco-friendly cleaning products are decent, but missing something, and that also goes for Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Concentrated Pacs. Yes, it is eco-friendly, but it doesn't provide the same great results I'm used to with traditional dish-washing tabs.

The great things about these dish-washing pacs are:

Chlorine-free
Phosphate-free
Biodegradable
Not tested on animals

The Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Concentrated Pacs look very similar to traditional dishwashing packs that contain a pre-measured amount of detergent in a clear, plastic wrap. Just pop one in your dishwasher, and that's it. One great thing I would like to note is that the box states that Seventh Generation donates 10% of their profits to "organizations working for positive change".

I have been using Dawn dishliquid for about 20 years. I love how gentle it is on the hands and that it really does make cleaning dishes easier, cuts the grease on pots and pans, and many of the scents smell wonderful and many are made with antibacterial agents.

Months ago JasyJen reviewed a Dawn dishliquid for hand renewal and I wanted to review it too but somehow never got around to it. If you want to read on that specific product click here and read her review.

The other day I was shopping and needed some Dawn dishliquid. I have been using the Hand Renewal with Oil of Olay for about six months now so I went straight to that one. If you have been following me for any length of time or really know me you know that I love the Wizard of Oz. I have one of the guest rooms in my house decorated in the Wizard of Oz theme and have collectibles throughout the room and on the wall. This year my younger sister told me she got me a collectible for Christmas. She wanted to give it to me early because she was afraid it would get messed up but I told her not to. But her comments got me thinking and I began pondering what the collectible would be. Would it be another Barbie doll, porcelain doll, something to add to my Beauty and the Beast collection, a musical water globe or a miniature shoe? Going online and sending/receiving emails and e-cards is a wonderful thing but I am a very sentimental person so there is something special about sending/receiving a card or letter the old fashioned way, by snail mail. I always tell friends and family that I will keep the United States Postal Service in business because I am always buying stamps and sending stuff. The holidays is no exception. There is no greater joy than to open your mailbox and instead of a stack of bills you find a greeting card.

I have friends across the country from east coast to west coast, from way down south, up to New York and out to California. I love sending cards. This year I had every intention of sending cards but time slipped away and I didn't get them addressed and mailed. But I did still give out approximately 30-40 cards to family and friends that were local. I love Ugg boots. I have a few pairs but, with the economy what it is, I just didn't want to sink so much money into more Uggs although I wanted more.

This winter, I bought four different Ugg-Alikes of varying quality and found one that I can now say is almost identical to Uggs in every way. Let's compare the four brands I bought and see which is the winner!

Which Brand is Most Like Uggs?

I started with Xhilaration Electra Suede Boots, moved to Unionbay Cozie G Boots, then to Bearpaw Women's 10-inch EVA Boots, and finally to EMU Australia Women's Bronte Hi Boots. One of these brands mimics Uggs to a T. The others vary in quality.

First, let's just toss away Unionbay Cozie G Boots. They are cheaply made, ugly, and uncomfortable. They really don't look like Uggs and they're just awful. Ugh. They're cheap but they look and feel even cheaper. No comparison to the others so I won't even compare them.

At one of my recent online orders to Sephora, I was given a free trial-size sampler of the Murad Essential-C skin care line. The samples were actually mini products, and not foil wrappers, so they were definitely generous samples.

The Murad Essential-C Cleanser is designed to:

Neutralizes environmental aggressors
Restore moisture
Remove impurities
Bind moisture to skin

My Experience

This cleanser smells nice, like orange candy. There are small, orange balls in the clear cleanser that probably exfoliate a little bit. A little bit of this cleanser goes a long way. After using, my face feels nice and soft, and not dried out at all. In fact, I think it's claim to "bind moisture to skin" is accurate, because my face feels more moisturized after using than before.

Although Murad Essential-C Cleanser contains some nice ingredients, it also contains methylparaben, which I avoid in all the products that I buy. I do have to say that while I do like the way this product cleans my face...

Yes, another Twilight Woods product by Bath and Body Works. The 2.5 fl oz bottle of Twilight Woods perfume only costs $29.50 so that is a great bargain considering I am usually paying between $80-150 for perfume (Light Blue and Coco Chanel Mademoiselle).

I have stated in previous perfume reviews that I can't really do justice because I don't have the professional know how to describe a fragrance. I've read where people speak of the low and high notes. Well, I love to sing but can't figure out how "notes" apply to perfume; except to say that perhaps the low and high notes are more symbolic of the intensity of a fragrance. Does it go on soft (low) or does it overwhelm you with a strong (loud) scent? Twilight Woods is probably like me. A mezzo-soprano. I have the ability to sing 2nd alto (the high notes) and 1st soprano (low notes) or the melody. Twilight Woods is well versed like me so maybe that's why I like it! Yes, I'm on a roll with my Twilight Woods products! I've been using Twilight Woods Shower Gel now for about 6 weeks and I'm loving it! You have probably read my reviews on the bubble bath and body cream so you are familiar with the details of the scent. It's hard to describe a scent if you aren't familiar with all those fancy terminology about perfumes and fragrances.

Twilight Woods is like being in the great outdoors and every once in a while a sensual and romantic aroma drifts through the clouds and stirs your senses. I am still not 100% convinced that Twilight Woods isn't an enhanced version of the Sensual Amber collection but whatever the case, I love it more!

The shower gel lathers up into a rich and bubbly lather. I am probably a little too overindulgent when using it because I squirt a lot on to the poof ball! I am so in love with the Twilight Woods Signature Collection by Bath and Body Works. While looking for the perfume I came across the body mist. I sprayed it and just like all the other products; it smelled divine. I bought a bottle but I don't use it on a regular basis as a body spray. I have been using it as an air freshener. This bottle is a lot larger and therefore, going to give you more use than the smaller air mist can that is intended to be the air freshener.

I spray the body mist up toward the ceiling fan blades and it just whirls around a wonderful fragrance and yes, the scent does linger. Usually if I am in the bathroom I will spray it toward the air vent.

During the holidays I had many asking me what air fresheners I was using. Well, I had a blend of the Glade Bayberry Spice plug-ins and this wonderful Twilight Woods body spray.

Whenever possible, I try to incorporate natural and organic foods in my diet. I'm not really a cereal eater, but the picture on the box of Kashi Strawberry Fields Cereal lured me in. It is organic, the flakes looked large and crunchy, and I like the fact that it has real berries too.

I love that this cereal is not only organic, but also very healthy. It has no fat, and only 120 calories per one cup serving. The only nutritional downfall is the fact that it contains only 1g of fiber per serving.

The flakes are big and extremely crunchy. In fact, they might be too crunchy for some people, but I like cereals that don't get soggy quickly, and these flakes certainly didn't get soggy. By the time I was eating my last couple bites, the flakes had sightly softened, but nowhere near soggy. In addition to crunchy, rice and wheat flakes, this cereral also has an abundance of whole raspberries and sliced strawberries.

Although this cereal tasted good, I still felt it was missing...

Quick View: This mascara promises all kinds of things but only delivers a few of those things. It certainly doesn't give me 12 times the impact, whatever that is. it doesn't even explain what "impact" is. It does darken and lengthen but that's about it.

My Take on L'Oreal Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara

This mascara comes in a typical black tube and the brush looks fairly typical as well. It is a straight brush with multi-level bristles. L'Oreal claims the mascara has "revolutionary lash-plumping technology with hydra-collagen for breathtaking volume and incredible wear."

It does go on well. It adds some length and darkness to my lashes and it doesn't clump or give me me spider lashes. I see very little volume though and I really need thicker lashes.

The mascara was average but throughout the day, I noticed little flakes under my eyes and on my cheeks. Ugh. The mascara also tends to transfer when I so much as touch my eyes.

I hosted Christmas dinner at my house this year, so I wanted to get a snack platter that would not only appeal to different people, but also have enough food to go around. Light beer products serve an important market need and while many individuals reach for a light brew to lessen the effects on the waistline, I generally find them too watery and bland to waste my time drinking. Most every major brewer offers at least one light beer, but one beer product promises to outdo all of them with its ultra- low calorie levels. The “beer” is Budweiser Select 55, a product with less than half the calories of most light beer.

Beer Commentary:

Budweiser Select 55 pours to a golden color with an aroma that is adjunct- laden, with scents of corn and basic grain. There is almost no head of foam at all and what little you get is gone within seconds- even with an aggressive pour. And the flavor isn’t much better than the appearance. It combines seltzer water, lightly skunked grain, and barely perceptable hops. There is a certain sulphur character as well and the product finishes with the familiar taste of Budweiser, for a brief second, before making way to a watery...

My husband and I went to the mall a couple hours before the movie was to play on the IMAX screen in 3D only to find out it was already sold out. We chose to see it in REAL 3D on the regular screen rather than to wait for another showing. We really had no idea what to expect from the movie, Avatar but it wouldn't have mattered because it surpassed even the highest of any expectations that could have been held.

Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez. The casting was excellent. They each play their parts perfectly. From Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez with their tough gal attitudes to Zoe Saldana's exotic air the girls add depth and emotion to the script. Stephen Lang is the perfect G.I. Joe type. Sam Worthington, who was considered for the part of James Bond over Daniel Craig makes the ideal hero. Sweet and enduring he stole my heart with his youthful no-fear factor.

My son has played with several shape sorters, just to be bored quickly or not challenged enough. Since he does enjoy playing with them, I wanted to find him one that would capture his attention and entertain him, and I did, the Battat Shape Sorter House. This shape sorter is both fun and challenging because it uses colors, shapes and keys to operate.

This shape sorter is much larger than other shape sorters I've seen. It is a "house" in the sense that it has several doors on the sides and a key is required to open the doors. There are several ways to play with the Battat Shape Sorter House. You can drop shapes into the slots on the top, push shapes through the doors on the side, or open the doors with the keys.
