Jo says "New Green Acres RV Park, SC: A great overnight stay" about New Green Acres RV Park, Walterboro, South Carolina

We left Massachusetts several days ago heading south. The first campground in which we stayed one night was New Green Acres RV Park in Walterboro, SC.

Information you may want:

www.newgreenacres.com

396 Campground Road, Walterboro, SC 29488

(843) 538-3450

The longest and widest pull-thru sites east of the Missisippi. That is according to the website; however, the sites were very long and although we are used to backing, in most of the sites were pull-throughs so we went with that.

Electric hook-up (30 and 50 amp)

Water and sewer

Cable- but note: it is an additional $2.00.

Laundry

Swimming Pool

Children's Playground - Note: I wan't all that impressed with the playground. All in all I consider New Acres a great place to stay for a night of two but it is not a destination campground- especially since it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere!

Dog Playground

Wireless Internet Service though we didn't use it so it either wasn't available or it was to hard to use.

Restrooms...

...

Fardreamer says "Jaws 3 stinks worse than three-day-old fish!" about Jaws 3

Although Hollywood studios did make a few movie series (The Thin Man, Andy Hardy, Blondie) in the so-called Golden Era of the 1930s and 1940s, the modern concept of the Big Blockbuster Sequel really didn't emerge until the 1970s, starting with Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather: Part II, followed by Airport 1975, Airport '77, and Jaws 2. And, of course, the phenomenal success of Star Wars and the subsequent The Empire Strikes Back proved to be decisive in the studios' increasing dependence on sequels to make millions of dollars at the box office, especially in years where there are no real "boffo" champs deserving of either critical or popular acclaim.

While all the major studios are prone to make totally unnecessary sequels, Universal Studios is perhaps one of the worst purveyors of Film Sequels from Hell, and one of the best (or is it worst?) examples is Jaws 3, which was originally known as Jaws 3-D.

The third film in The Series That Never Should Have Been a Series actually has the...
...

Fardreamer says "Willis is watchable in 1990's otherwise too formulaic Die Hard 2" about Die Hard 2: Die Harder

One of the predictable consequences of the success of 1988's Die Hard was 20th Century Fox's decision to greenlight Renny Harlin's Die Hard 2: Die Harder, a spectacularly violent sequel to Bruce Willis' star-making hit about a brave, wise-cracking police detective who goes mano-a-mano with a band of sophisticated criminals in order to save his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and other civilians.

The studio's big shots, of course, rarely see movies as works of art but rather as investments for which they expect at least some profit, so when a stand-alone film such as Airport, Jaws, Smokey and the Bandit or Die Hard makes more money than they put into it, the temptation to make them into franchises becomes irresistible.

Although Die Hard director John McTiernan had been tapped to helm the sequel (written by Doug Richardson and Steven E. de Souza), he had to pass because he was working on Paramount Pictures' The Hunt for Red October. Determined to release Die Hard 2 for the summer 1990...
...

Fardreamer says "De Palma's Mission Impossible reboot goes on Cruise control" about Mission: Impossible

In 1996, 30 years after its debut on the CBS television network, producer Bruce Geller's spy-action adventure series Mission: Impossible followed Star Trek from the small screen into the silver screen when Paramount Pictures released Brian DePalma's film adaptation, which stars Tom Cruise as IMF operative Ethan Hunt and Jon Voight as Jim Phelps.

Because the series was so much a product of the Cold War - proving Nicholas Meyer's statement that "all art reflects the times in which it's created" - storywriters Steven Zaillian and David Koepp and screenwriters Koepp and Robert Towne couldn't simply take stories from the old show and update them for the film.

They could, however, take some of the series' basic premises and one character (Phelps) and try to extrapolate what the end of the Cold War has wrought on the IMF team and its leaders now that the Iron Curtain has fallen and their roles and missions are being redefined.

The big issue faced by Zaillian, Koepp and Towne was this: Tom Cruise's...
...

AmyA says "Hours of fun and laughs with Fling-ama-string (a toy for cats)" about Moody Pet Fling-ama-string

This is not only a fun toy for cats and pet parents, but it has also won awards for Product Excellence (Gold Retailer Select), Editor's Choice (Cat Fancy), Best New Cat Product (Global Pet Expo) and Best in show (Global Pet Expo).

It was the awards that sold me when I was shopping for something new for my girls and it's was my girls reactions that made me happy I made my choice.

This is a battery operated (3 AA batteries) toy that is a simple multi colored string that goes around on an elastic belt...pulls the string up and when it gets to the front the string drops and my girls were pouncing, jumping and trying like crazy to capture the string. They both were having a blast. Scrappy (three years old) and Snickers (one year old). Doesn't matter what age...it gets them off their furry little tushies and keeps them going.

A snap to put together. place batteries in and turn it on (so easy). This two has two speeds and it hangs on an ordenary door knob so you don't have to worry...
...

Jo says "It may be hard to find your jewels at YardSaleTreasureMap.com" about YardSaleTreasureMap

I was elated when I read about www.YardSaleTreasureMap.com. I love to go to yard sales. Before we moved I would plot out my morning by streets and spend several hours at yard sales.

Not knowing the area quite so well I have limited my hobby to yard sales on one long street in my town. www.YardSaleTreasureMap.com is simple to use. I just put in my starting address, the maximum miles I want to drive and the day I want to go treasure hunting.

When I saw a red balloon I clicked on the listing and found the specific time of the yard sale and where it was. There were details of what would be for sale as well.

There are two problems with www.YardSaleTreasureMap.com.

The listings are taken from www.craigslist.com. That is very limiting for someone like me who lives in a suburban area 50 minutes from Boston. Yard sales are posted in local newspapers or just via signs on the trees. I found one yard sale in my town. I put in Boston and found a few more but not enough for me to rave about YardSaleTreasureMap.com....

...

As a very special treat, I purchase a box of Pedigree Little Champions packets for my two dogs to share. My pups usually get dry food only, so giving them a combination of the wet food and dry food together was a big treat for them.

I absolutely LOVE the way Pedigree Little Champions comes packaged. In one box, you get several pouches of food. Each pouch is one serving. The serving is small - Only a little over five ounces. The pouches are lined up nice and neatly in the box, so you can keep them all stored in the box until they are gone. The pouches are very easy to open and the food, literally, slides right out. You don't have to get a spoon and dig it out, or bang on the bottom it to get the food out....it just slides right out. SO EASY! Since the servings are so small, I mix it in with the dry food and give it to my pups. THEY LOVE IT! I have never seen my dogs devour their food with such intensity. They don't eat it down very fast, it's almost as if they are...
...

Reviewer11 says "The healthiest and delicious burgers there is!" about In-N-Out Burgers - California, CA

Although some people who claim to be "Experts" might say that "In-N-Out" is unhealthy, it it FALSE. These experts should actually try the product and witness it themselves in order to write an accurate review. Why are "In-N-Out" burgers healthy? Here's why:

1. Burgers aren't fried. They're grilled.

2. Burgers come with lettuce and tomato which is, what ladies and gentlemen?-- healthy! Duh!

3. For those who don't eat or limit their carbs, In-N-Out has a burger called "Protein Style" burger which has no bun and it is covered with lettuce.

4. The french fries are fried in 100% vegetable oil. That's one of the healthy oils compared to peanut oil and others.

5. It tastes fresh because wow, they use real potatoes! You can SEE them slicing the potatoes on the window when you use the drive-thru. You can see what the workers are doing when you use the drive thru.

~In-N-Out also has a few foods that aren't posted on their menu sign but few of them can be found on their official website at: http://www.in-n-out.com/default.asp...
...

Fardreamer says "Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket is quirky, violent Vietnam War film " about Full Metal Jacket

Before I bought Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket on DVD last year, I had only seen the movie once before - when it was released in theaters in 1987.

I was still in college then, a journalism major and - at the time - copy editor of my junior college campus' student newspaper. But because I had been the paper's Diversions editor during the previous semester, I still wrote entertainment-related articles or reviews if the section needed me to do so.

I went to see Full Metal Jacket with my friends Betsy Matteis and Richard de la Pena; we had met in elementary school in the 1970s and remained close until Betsy moved to Alabama several years ago and (sadly) Richard's death at the age of 41 (cancer).

At the time, many Hollywood studios were releasing "combat experience" movies about the Vietnam War, a topic they had either ignored or danced peripherically around by focusing their attention on the post-war experiences or the home front dramas (The Deer Hunter, Coming Home) of the veterans. ...
...

Fardreamer says "Great Fox War Movies is decent but lacks exciting extras" about Great Fox War Movies - The Longest Day/Patton/Tora! Tora! Tora!

I've been watching movies for as long as I can remember and been collecting them for 25 years, first on VHS tapes after I bought my first VCR in 1984 and on DVD since 1999.

Like many film buffs, I embraced the DVD (and its successor format, the Blu-ray) not only because it has much better audio and video playback, but also because the slimmer packaging takes up less shelf space than the bulky videotapes did when they were the only available home-video format.

I also like DVDs/Blu-rays because they can often be bundled in box sets that contain three or four movies which are either (a) multi-movie sagas along the lines of The Star Wars Trilogy or the Indiana Jones series, or (b) stand-alone movies that are nevertheless thematically linked to a specific genre or topic.

Another nice (or perhaps not-so-nice) thing about DVDs is that if the first release version of a movie in the format - usually dating from the late 1990s to the first few years of the Oh-Ohs - was skimpy on extra features,...
...

Fardreamer says "Kobayashi Maru is a tepid look at Star Trek's 'no-win' test " about The Star Trek #47: The Kobayashi Maru Books

One of the coolest things about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie is that it gave Star Trek fans the "true" story of how Cadet James T. Kirk beat - on his third attempt - a test designed to pit future starship commanders against a "no-win scenario" intended to be a test of character rather than "a fair test" of a student's command abilities.

In the Star Trek universe, the Kobayashi Maru scenario (first seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan) is a required test that all Command-track cadets at Starfleet Academy must take to see if they have the "right stuff" to someday take the "center seat" of a starship as its commanding officer.

In The Kobayashi Maru, Julia Ecklar (who is also one of the team of writers which uses the pen name L.A. Graf) does describe how James Tiberius Kirk beat the "no-win scenario," but in a very superficial manner, since her vignette set in 2254 delves into why Kirk gets frustrated with the simulation, the effects of his "reprogramming" of the Academy computer, and...
...

Although the subject matter is heavy, the book is easy to read and flows well. Sarah's Key was a New York Times Bestseller written by Tatiana De Rosnay, a French woman in 2007.

Sarah's Key is a wonderful book to read for book clubs not just because of the nature of it but also in the book and online you can find questions to ask and discuss.

The author has the voices of both Julia Jarmond, an American who has been living in France and is married to a French man for 25 years, and Sarah, a 10-year old Jewish girl from Paris.

The year is 1942 and the subject is France's involvement in the Holocaust. De Rosnay alternates voices from chapter to chapter with Sarah starting first and then Julia introducing herself as an American journalist investigating the happenings in Paris during that time. During her research of Sarah, Julia learns of secrets which change the course of her life. Toward the end we just hear from...
...

GigiandAdonai says "Slip into the Twilight Woods and let your senses carry you away." about Bath & Body Works Bath Body Works Twilight Woods Bubble Bath

I love bubble baths and my Saturday ritual consist of sleeping in and then taking a long, hot bubble bath. Nothing relaxes me more than to put some music on and to slip into a tub full of bubbles and to just soak in the warm water and breathe in the aroma. Twilight Woods has such an intense fragrance that it truly is enchanting. I have never used any sort of aromatherapy bubble baths but this would probably do the trick.

I use two capfuls and it will produce a nice amount of bubbles but not the amount that I really want. You know I want the bubble bath like Julia Roberts had in Pretty Woman. I guess if I were in Hollywood someone could produce that effect for me but for now this will do. So, Twilight Woods doesn't give you all the bubbles but it will bring a lot of delight.

The fragrance is the same as the Twilight Woods body cream. It's a very deep moisturizing bubble bath. It's not very greasy. I don't have to worry about stepping into my garden tub and slipping and...
...

Several weeks ago I was sitting in my office when a client walked in and I was immediately taken by the scent that followed her. I asked her if she was wearing a perfume or lotion because I really liked it. She told me she was wearing Twilight Woods by Bath and Body Works and she pulled a small bottle out of her purse and let me smell it. At first I thought I was smelling Sensual Amber under another name. I took a bottle of Sensual Amber out of my desk drawer and let her smell it and she noticed the similarity too. Twilight Woods is being sold under the Signature Collection series and since I have been introduced to it I must admit that it is now my favorit fragrance at Bath and Body Works.

A few weeks ago I was at the mall and stopped by Bath and Body Works because they were having a 3 for 3 sale. You bought 3 items and got 3 of equal or lesser value free. Well, I stocked up on the body cream, shower gel and bubble bath and then I went up front and picked up several of the...
...

Han Solo (CommTech) action figure:

Although Kenner had created a basic Han Solo figure based on his appearance in 1977's Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope (aka Star Wars) in its "Vintage" collection, the only "variants" were accidental; the 1978 figure came with either a "big head" or a "little head" due to inexact molding issues. The collection which focused on A New Hope (1978-early 1980) never bothered with Han Solo (in Stormtrooper Disguise) or Han Solo (Death Star Escape); it wouldn't be until The Empire Strikes Back collection (1980-early 1983) that Han would get a better head mold and different outfits.

By the mid-1990s, however, several factors contributed to a change in policy by the "suits" in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to make various versions of the same character as he, she, or (in the case of droids and aliens) it appeared in different sequences in one movie.

The biggest factor, of course, was that the decade between the Kenner POTF1 and the Hasbro/Kenner POTF2 runs had...
...

Several months ago PattyTherre and I were discussing the various lip balms and I got into a discussion with her about the most fabulous product I had ever tried. It's the Simple Pleasures lip balms. I never can find them except for at Christmas time and it's usually in gift sets at Kohls. So Patty and I began to search the Internet and she found the manufacturer but we couldn't find the product. Just as I suspected it is now back at Kohls and I have once again stocked up on them. There are several varieties and each gives you a bag full of flavors. My favorite is the Snowman collection. I don't know if it's because I actually like those flavors the best or if the thought of snowman and snowflakes warm my heart during the holidays. I have also purchased the Gingerbread collection and the ice-cream treats.

Kohls website has this to say about the snowman collection:

Deliciously sweet. This lip balm gift set is perfect for the gift-giving season.

Jo says "Thanks to Gabby Reece Bra Tank by Danskin I don't eat my t-shirt" about Danskin Now Women's Gabby Reece Seamless Shelf-Bra Tank

I love to buy new clothes for my yoga class. I was in Walmart and saw Danskin Now Women's Gabby Reece Seamless Shelf-Bra Tank. At the time it was only $10.00 but now on Walmart's website it is $7.00. On line there are various colors and sizes for the colors. I chose purple.

There is nothing I don't like about Danskin Now Women's Gabby Reece Seamless Shelf-Bra Tank. It is seamless except for seams where there have to be such as on the raceback.

I love the inner bra. I wouldn't run in this sleeveless tank but for yoga or low impact aerobics it would be fine if you are well endowed. The support is good for that kind of activity.

Danskin Now Women's Gabby Reece Seamless Shelf-Bra Tank runs true to size so if you buy it online whatever size blouse you would wear would work.

In the picture you can see what they call body mapping. This is a type of design that give a slimmer look to the body.

It is a tight fit but not uncomfortably tight. In fact it is probably the most comfortable of all my...
...

Jo says "Yankee Candle Sparkling Snow: fresh scent of pine and patchouli" about Yankee Candle Company Sparkling Snow Candle

I love Yankee Candles but usually dismiss them because of the cost. I got Yankee Candle Company Sparkling Snow Candle as a gift. This is a Medium Tumbler Candle. There are other sizes and types that Yankee Candle makes. My Yankee Candle Company Sparkling Snow Candle is in a glass just with a metal top that seals like the glass tops do. The medium size in the tumbler run around $20.

Yankee Candle Company Sparkling Snow Candle has two wicks, is 12 1/2 ounces, and will burn for about 50 hours.

The scent

I now know why I love this scent so much. It has patchouli in it, one of my very favorite aromas. My Yankee Candle Company Sparkling Snow Candle also has some aromas of pine and fruit. It is really a very pretty and pleasant scent.

When I burn it the scent covers a very large area but even when it is not burning and I have the cover off the scent is still in the air!

My experience

I am a candle burner and have so many that I am on a moratorium; however, I am now convinced that in the case...
...
