      <description>After several false starts I finally got hold of a VW TDI in early 2005 just before new regulations put a hold on diesel engines in cars. I thank my lucky stars as fuel prices have almost doubled since then. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Also the car is fun to drive. I live on the side of a mountain in a rural area in New Jersey (yes there are rural areas in NJ). My car outperforms many luxury vehicles on the twisting roads I use to get anywhere. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Since I acquired the car the average MPG is in excess of 52 MPG. At current diesel prices this works out to be slightly greater than $0.05 per mile. My wife has a gasoline version and it is costing in excess of $0.10 per mile for fuel&lt;br/&gt;... </description>
