      <title>figmo says "Adorable, friendly, smart, cat-like." about dog breed Bichon frise</title>
      <link>http://www.viewpoints.com/dog-breed-Bichon-frise-review-9e0f</link>
      <description>Lady is my second Bichon Frise.  After having one for 15.5 years I had to have another. &amp;mdash;

These dogs are empathetic, playful, cheerful, cuddly, soft, warm, loyal, and smart.  They can handle being left alone better than many breeds.  Lady likes to rub against me like a cat, pounces on her toys and dog biscuits the way a cat does, bats around ice cubes and kibbles of dog food like a cat, and occasionally meows! &amp;mdash;

They're also sturdy for a small dog without being bulky. You can get surprisingly rough with these little dainty things. They understand more than they like to let onto and will sometimes surprise you with an especially appropriate reaction to something. Years ago there was a guy who was interested in me, but the feeling wasn't mutual. Without my having to do a thing, when I was around this guy my Bichon would whine at the timbre of nails-on-a-blackboard. They're also "talkers," often making amazingly appropriate noises to things you'll say or do.

      <title>figmo says "Very devoted, protective, and fearless." about dog breed Yorkshire Terrier</title>
      <link>http://www.viewpoints.com/dog-breed-Yorkshire-Terrier-review-8f294</link>
      <description>I grew up with an adorable Yorkie and would recommend the breed to anyone who wants a very devoted dog and can handle their fragility.  They are quick to defend their "family," so it's a good idea to make sure they get to know anyone new as gently as possible. &amp;mdash;

There are only two real drawbacks with the breed:  &amp;mdash;

1) They are fragile.  While they're pretty good with kids, you don't want them around anyone who wants to roughhouse with the dog. &amp;mdash;

2) To meet the AKC standard their ears are clipped and their tails are docked. If your dog is "just" a pet, don't bother putting the animal through the surgical stuff. I saw one that had its tail intact and it was beautiful. &amp;mdash;... </description>
