I recently bought a new house and with it came the inheritance of a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer from Lowes. To me the washer feels new as it is only about two or three years old and is still under warranty. It's my first front loading washer and I really like it! Once you start the wash cycle the door locks, so you don't accidently open it while its' washing and make a mess. It's also easily unlockable in case you forgot to add an item to the wash.

The Neptune washer is easy to use and an energy saving machine. There are many special settings, like presoak, extra rinse, maximum extract, stain cycle and delayed wash. There is also a timer so you can see how much time is left for the wash. And in addition to your regular fabricate settings, there's my favorite setting, wrinkle free!

I would give this machine 2 thumbs up!

Tis by Frank McCourt

This book is as amazing as the first book Angela's Ashes. Frank McCourt is a wonderful storyteller! If you've read Angela's Ashes you have got to check out Tis.

Tis tells of Frank's life once he gets to New York right after WWII, 1949, when he is 19 years old. Frank is amazed at what America has to offer, and one of his lines in the book is 'Isn't this a great country altogether?" And he answers "Tis."

He is taken under the wing of a priest, who helps him find a place and gets him settled, then the priest hits on him! Unfortunately his first few years in America are not that great. Gross boarding houses, manual labor jobs, and a lot of heavy drinking with two of his brothers that have also made it to the states, Malachy, and Michael. He eventually gets admitted to NYU. He gets a teaching degree, and starts teaching in Staten Island. You read about his marriage to Alberta and his Mother's return to America to be near her sons. This whole book is peppered with...

I must say when it rains, it pours! I have never been able to find a lip gloss that compliments my lips and now I am reviewing two in the last two days!

This lip gloss really does it all! It's perfect for the 35+ woman, no glitter, just shine and a hint of color! The color is noted as Fizzy Pear, but I think the real color is a hint of peach. The gloss has minimal fragrance that does not linger, and it really looks great on! I am a warm light on the color wheel and this color works for me perfectly. As I have said before, I was tired of the matte lipstick and wanted something light and shiny. For a while I was convinced that lip gloss was only for the younger woman, but this gloss has changed my mind!

On eBay, I found this lip gloss, new, starting at 99 cents, with $3.00 for shipping. Unfortunately I could not find the gloss on the Estee Lauder website so your best bet is to try eBay, or similar sites. It's possible they don't produce the...

I have been looking for a lip gloss that works for me as a 35+ stay home Mom of two. Last summer I became tired of having the matte lipstick color and chapstick as my only options! I wanted so shine but no shimmer or sparkle. After trying 3 different kinds of lip gloss I almost gave up. They were either the wrong color, too glossy or too shimmery. Then I pulled out a little case of makeup that I received as a gift and took a look at the lip gloss that came with the pack. I gave one of them a try and noticed it was too pink for me. I am a warm, light color on the color palette and tend to look better with brown and coral based lip colors. Then I looked at the other lip gloss and was skeptical because from the outside of the tube it looks shiny and shimmery. I gave it a try anyway and was pleasantly surprised!

This ColorWorks lip gloss is exactly the gloss and color I was looking for. It goes on glossy but not too heavy and it has no scent so I can't taste...

New Moon (The Twilight Saga Book 2)

This was a really amazing follow up to the first book, Twilight. I enjoyed it as thoroughly as the first book, and was delighted with the addition of Werewolves, Indian lore and the developing storyline with Jacob and his friendship with Bella.

Again, this book would appeal to all ages, from the teen to the elderly. It has no major violence, no swearing, and no sex scenes that would offend.

I have heard that some feel that Bella is too needy in this novel and leads Jacob along to believe there might be more then a friendship developing. I feel that as a teen who has just lost the love of her life, or so she believes, that the friendship with Jacob would be a normal reaction for any girl at that age. I believe that Bella is confused about her relationship with Jacob, as most teen girls would be.

This story starts with the recovery of Bella after the attack on her by the rogue vampire, James. As she is recovering Edward plans a birthday...

Twilight

This book is amazing. Prior to reading Twilight, I had heard from many friends that they could not put this book down and now I know why. I also see that it appeals to people of all ages from preteen to the elderly, (my mother loved it!). It is also appropriate for all of these age groups as there is no swearing, no sex and nothing too violent.

This book follows the story of a teen named Bella who recently goes back to Forks, WA to live with her Dad. She notices a group of outcasts at the school and falls in love with one, named Edward. She comes to find out that they are part of a Vampire family, and instead of being scared she is enthralled and becomes dedicated to the whole group. The story follows the ups and downs of their relationships, and Edward becomes her guardian, as well as her boyfriend.

The movie comes out November 21st, and I am very excited. I'm sure it won't do the book justice, but none the less I still can't wait to see it.

I am giving this book 5 stars as it is...

I was reading Woman's Day Magazine the other day and saw on add on the newest and most loved new anti aging products on the market. Blistex Deep Renewal was mentioned and I thought, that sounds awesome! Basically a chap-stick that helps your lips from looking old! Then I thought, it will probably be WAY out of my price range for chap-stick. Boy was I wrong. I was grocery shopping the next day and saw it on the Safeway shelf for $1.99! It was on sale and I snatched it right up!

This is an amazing chap-stick, lip protector! I smells good, glides on smoothly and lasts on your lips for a long time. I haven't been using it long enough to comment on it's effects, but I can tell you that I have been putting it on a lone and over lipstick because I just love the feel. Here are some of the facts:

I have been using this product for about two weeks now and I love it! I am concerned about aging and decided to go from Olay's basic line to the definity and regenerist lines, one step at a time.

I have been using this product in the morning after my serum and I also add a dab to my foundation before applying. My skin is combination so I usually only use this product once a day, but if you have dry skin I would suggest using it at night after cleansing too.

It's pretty affordable about $25, a little dab will do ya! It goes on smooth and soaks in. It goes on well with foundation. And it smells awesome!

If you are concerned about dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles I would suggest Olay Definity!

If you have used salt scrubs or sugar scrubs before - you really have to give this one a try! When I shave my legs I get really dry skin, especially during the fall and winter. What I like to do is shave and after that I use this product on my legs while still in the shower. It doesn't sting and it makes your skin silky smooth! I also use this product on my heels, elbows and any other areas that tend to get dried out or a little rough. If you have dry skin all over, then you could use this product all over your body! It also has a great scent and after a full body scrub, you will definitely feel alive!

If you don't have an Arbonne consultant, then check out this product on ebay, they usually have this product for sale.

Over the years I have read a lot about the possibility of lead and other contaminants in regular deodorant so I decided to once again look for an organic or natural deodorant. I have tried some in the past but to no avail. Since I live in a small town the choice was limited, there were only two choices, I chose Jason's. I love the smell of lavender!

It was like any other natural deodorants I have tried in the past. Smells great, goes on fine, but if it's a hot day, does not do the job. I don't really sweat all that much and I don't think that I smell bad when I sweat, but when I used Jason's and it was an 80 plus day, I noticed something that didn't smell very good! I guess I'll just put it away for Fall and Winter!

I think natural deodorant is a good idea, but I have yet to find one that works as well as regular deodorant. I would say this is definitely a cold weather deodorant!

The Plot:

This was a historical tale of William and Eramus Kemp. William is the father, who has a ship built specifically for the slave trade. The ship sets sail with a group of seafaring men, and a doctor who is also William's nephew. This causes much strife among the crew, as his nephew, Paris, is not a fellow voyager. Meanwhile, William's son Eramus is falling in love, and hoping to marry.

My Opinion:

This book was given to me amongst many other books, and essentially the next one in my pile, to read. If I had picked this one up at a store, I wouldn't have bought it. It wasn't really all that interesting. The beginning was slow, the middle (the part written about the ship's journey and the slave trade), was interesting, and then the end seemed unbelievable and was a little boring. It does have a strange twist to it, when the ship never makes it back from the slave trading, but it didn't seem possible. I wouldn't recommend this book.

I really love make-up and I love to buy and try new kinds. I have tried all kinds of mascara, I went through a phase that if it was not high end name brand make-up, it wouldn't work as well and I wouldn't buy it. Then I went through times where I could not afford the high end brands any longer. No matter what I tried I always came back to the best.

The assets that Great Lash has is that it can be put on quickly, looks great, affordable and lengthens and covers in one coat! Many other mascaras I have tried require two or three coats, and still do not measure up to the length and coverage I can get from Great Lash with one coat. I have even tried a few of those mascaras that have two specific coats to lengthen your lashes. Still nothing has measured up.

I think Great Lash speaks for itself. My Mom has been using it for at least 30 years (she is 70 next month), and I believe this product was around before that. What says it better then the test of time?

I recently decided that I could no longer use a generic lotion to remove my eye make-up because for one it stings, and for two, how good could it really be for my eyes or the delicate skin surrounding my eyes? (Not to mention the little bumps I had acquired since using a generic lotion to remove my eye make-up.)

Since I have recently moved on to a more affordable skin care line, Oil of Olay, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this line also had an eye make-up remover, that was not only a make-up remover but a wrinkle treatment too? And it only cost $8.50 to $9.50 for a 6.7 oz bottle? AWESOME!

The first night I tried it I realized that this was great stuff! No stinging or blurred vision in my eyes. Creamy yet not greasy, easily works, and I haven't seen any bumps since using it! Since I have not yet gotten to the point of full blown crows feet, I cannot say if it has helped my fine lines, but maybe with a few more weeks use,...

I remembered my mother always using Oil of Olay, when I was a child, so I decided to give it a try. I needed some facial wash, so I decided to go with an inexpensive bottle that I found at the grocery store. This bottle of face wash runs anywhere from $5 to $6, depending on where you shop.

Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion

Since becoming a stay at home Mom, I have learned to cut costs in every aspect of my life. The last one being my skincare. I thought that if I wanted smooth, clear skin I needed to break the bank, sorta speak. I finally decided to try some skin care products that were under $25, in this case in fact, only costing between $9.99 and $10.99, depending on where you shop. (Oil of Olay products are frequently on sale too.) I remembered when I was a kid - my Mom's pink bottle of Oil of Olay in the cupboard, and thought why don't I give it a try?

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice light moisturizer, that soaks in quickly and keeps my skin nourished all day long. It blends well with my foundation and I have noticed a decrease in dry spots and in breakouts since using it. It's amazing! And you can't beat the price!

The Tenth Circle

The storyline:

This book is an amazing story of a small family of three. The Mom is a busy professor at the local college, the dad stays home and writes comics and takes care of the family and the daughter is just 15 years old, her name, is Trixie. She has just had her heart broken by her first boyfriend, and unfortunately is not able to accept it. This leads to a party where things go wrong and Trixie is raped. From here the story really delves in to the life of this family - past and present and how they are going to keep themselves together and continue on. It also has a great "whodunit" quality to it that really keeps you on the edge of your seat.

My take:

I really liked this book. I couldn't put it down. After reading it I realized it was made in to a movie on lifetime this past June, so I am going to download it on iTunes so I can watch it. The mother in the story teaches Dante at the college, and there is a great twist where the father is incorporating...

The storyline-

Avocet (Bird) Jackson and her older sister Phoebe have a really terrible life. After their father dies their mother moves them to a small town in Florida where they live in a run down little trailer owned by a motel owner, where their mother works as a bookkeeper for the motel. Bird makes friends with the mysterious older woman, Ms. Zora, who helps her through the hard times with "Mama", a drunken abusive woman, who continues to grieve over her abusive husband's death.

My thoughts -

This book is an amazing tale of dignity and forgiveness. This book follows Bird through one horrible home to another, her parents abuse and alcoholism, to a place where you hope she can find some solace. It's hard to believe that Bird is only a nine year old girl, she seems to be wise beyond her years. I enjoyed this book, and had the feeling, after reading the authors profile, that some of this book may have come from her memory, which made the book...

Crazy 8 is a new store that is associated with Gymboree but with kids clothing that is about half the price and a little more funky then what Gymboree has to offer.

Until recently the only way I was able to buy from Crazy 8 was on-line as there was no local store, but two weeks ago their local store opened and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw and the sales that were offered.

Initially I was looking for a cute pair of jeans for my son, after seeing some my friends had purchased for their son from Crazy 8, I had to try them for my son. They are just adorable and so very durable. From there I was hooked on the jeans and looking at all the deals everytime I received an e-mail.

I purchased over half of my daughter's back to school clothes at my first store visit. They have the coolest clothes for boys and girls, the designers use really funky colors and really awesome designs. They are different from Gymboree as the clothes have more of a trendy edge, whereas Gymboree is a little...

I have been taking surveys on-line for about three years now. I feel that I am pretty survey site savvy, as I have visited about every survey site out there and have made a list of the top survey sites, and the ones that I feel are just a scam. Surveyspot is definitely not a scam. There web site is very straight forward and easy to follow and their survey invitations provide all the information you need to decide if you want to take the survey being offered, like what the survey is about, how long it will take to fill it out, (if you are accepted), and if there is any cash incentive for taking the survey.They don't often offer cash for surveys, but when they do the surveys fill up fast so if you are interested in a cash incentive, you need to check your e-mail at least twice a day. Unfortunately like other survey sites, they do not offer a points system that accrues towards money or gift cards. However, they do occasionally send out free products for testing, and every time you click...
