eryndiane says "This product works wonders and you only apply it once a month!" about Advantage Flea Control

Advantage Flea Control

I have been using Advantage for years and it has never failed me! It works great, you only have to apply it once a month to your cats or dogs, and you never need to worry about fleas again.

I have two cats and a dog, and began to wonder how I would afford this product, as it can be very expensive from the vet's office. I began searching around and noticed that this product is sold in mass quantity on ebay. At first I only bought the brand new packages that looked essentially the same as what you would pick up at the vets. I was saving $35-$40 a month so this was more then fine with me. Then I figured out how they are selling the product in bulk and realized I could save more then twice that amount, by simply purchasing one large tube of advantage. By using the handy syringe applicator and dosage guidelines with this larger tube, I have saved a bundle. My pets are happy and my wallet is happy too!

The benefits are as follows:

Kills 98% of fleas within 12 hours

It's water...
...

eryndiane says "An amazing and intriguing book about vampires!" about Twilight: The Book

Twilight

This book is amazing. Prior to reading Twilight, I had heard from many friends that they could not put this book down and now I know why. I also see that it appeals to people of all ages from preteen to the elderly, (my mother loved it!). It is also appropriate for all of these age groups as there is no swearing, no sex and nothing too violent.

This book follows the story of a teen named Bella who recently goes back to Forks, WA to live with her Dad. She notices a group of outcasts at the school and falls in love with one, named Edward. She comes to find out that they are part of a Vampire family, and instead of being scared she is enthralled and becomes dedicated to the whole group. The story follows the ups and downs of their relationships, and Edward becomes her guardian, as well as her boyfriend.

The movie comes out November 21st, and I am very excited. I'm sure it won't do the book justice, but none the less I still can't wait to see it.

I am giving this book 5 stars as it is...
...

eryndiane says "New anti-aging lip treatment from Blistex!" about Blistex Deep Renewal

Blistex Deep Renewal

I was reading Woman's Day Magazine the other day and saw on add on the newest and most loved new anti aging products on the market. Blistex Deep Renewal was mentioned and I thought, that sounds awesome! Basically a chap-stick that helps your lips from looking old! Then I thought, it will probably be WAY out of my price range for chap-stick. Boy was I wrong. I was grocery shopping the next day and saw it on the Safeway shelf for $1.99! It was on sale and I snatched it right up!

This is an amazing chap-stick, lip protector! I smells good, glides on smoothly and lasts on your lips for a long time. I haven't been using it long enough to comment on it's effects, but I can tell you that I have been putting it on a lone and over lipstick because I just love the feel. Here are some of the facts:

Coenzyme Q-10the gold standard for moisturization and overall revitalization

Hyaluronic filling spheres help give lips a fuller appearance

Vitamin-collagen anti-oxidant complex promotes...

...

Olay Definity Corrective Protecting Lotion

I have been using this product for about two weeks now and I love it! I am concerned about aging and decided to go from Olay's basic line to the definity and regenerist lines, one step at a time.

I have been using this product in the morning after my serum and I also add a dab to my foundation before applying. My skin is combination so I usually only use this product once a day, but if you have dry skin I would suggest using it at night after cleansing too.

It's pretty affordable about $25, a little dab will do ya! It goes on smooth and soaks in. It goes on well with foundation. And it smells awesome!

If you are concerned about dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles I would suggest Olay Definity!
...

Arbonne Awaken Sea Salt Scrub

If you have used salt scrubs or sugar scrubs before - you really have to give this one a try! When I shave my legs I get really dry skin, especially during the fall and winter. What I like to do is shave and after that I use this product on my legs while still in the shower. It doesn't sting and it makes your skin silky smooth! I also use this product on my heels, elbows and any other areas that tend to get dried out or a little rough. If you have dry skin all over, then you could use this product all over your body! It also has a great scent and after a full body scrub, you will definitely feel alive!

If you don't have an Arbonne consultant, then check out this product on ebay, they usually have this product for sale.
...

eryndiane says "Good for a cool day, but not for a hot one!" about Jason Lavender Deodorant Stick 2.5 oz

Jason

Pure, natural and organic

Lavender Deodorant

Over the years I have read a lot about the possibility of lead and other contaminants in regular deodorant so I decided to once again look for an organic or natural deodorant. I have tried some in the past but to no avail. Since I live in a small town the choice was limited, there were only two choices, I chose Jason's. I love the smell of lavender!

It was like any other natural deodorants I have tried in the past. Smells great, goes on fine, but if it's a hot day, does not do the job. I don't really sweat all that much and I don't think that I smell bad when I sweat, but when I used Jason's and it was an 80 plus day, I noticed something that didn't smell very good! I guess I'll just put it away for Fall and Winter!

I think natural deodorant is a good idea, but I have yet to find one that works as well as regular deodorant. I would say this is definitely a cold weather deodorant!
...

eryndiane says "Historical tale, not what I expected." about Barry Unsworth - Sacred Hunger

Sacred Hunger

By Barry Unsworth

The Plot:

This was a historical tale of William and Eramus Kemp. William is the father, who has a ship built specifically for the slave trade. The ship sets sail with a group of seafaring men, and a doctor who is also William's nephew. This causes much strife among the crew, as his nephew, Paris, is not a fellow voyager. Meanwhile, William's son Eramus is falling in love, and hoping to marry.

My Opinion:

This book was given to me amongst many other books, and essentially the next one in my pile, to read. If I had picked this one up at a store, I wouldn't have bought it. It wasn't really all that interesting. The beginning was slow, the middle (the part written about the ship's journey and the slave trade), was interesting, and then the end seemed unbelievable and was a little boring. It does have a strange twist to it, when the ship never makes it back from the slave trading, but it didn't seem possible. I wouldn't recommend this book.
...

eryndiane says "All the mascaras I've ever tried, I always come back to the best" about Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Soft Black .43 oz.

I really love make-up and I love to buy and try new kinds. I have tried all kinds of mascara, I went through a phase that if it was not high end name brand make-up, it wouldn't work as well and I wouldn't buy it. Then I went through times where I could not afford the high end brands any longer. No matter what I tried I always came back to the best.

The assets that Great Lash has is that it can be put on quickly, looks great, affordable and lengthens and covers in one coat! Many other mascaras I have tried require two or three coats, and still do not measure up to the length and coverage I can get from Great Lash with one coat. I have even tried a few of those mascaras that have two specific coats to lengthen your lashes. Still nothing has measured up.

I think Great Lash speaks for itself. My Mom has been using it for at least 30 years (she is 70 next month), and I believe this product was around before that. What says it better then the test of time?

Big thumbs up from me!

...

eryndiane says "No sting, creamy eye make-up remover that helps wrinkles too!" about Oil of Olay Regenerist Eye Make-up Remover Plus Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Olay Regenerist Eye Make-up Remover Plus Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

I recently decided that I could no longer use a generic lotion to remove my eye make-up because for one it stings, and for two, how good could it really be for my eyes or the delicate skin surrounding my eyes? (Not to mention the little bumps I had acquired since using a generic lotion to remove my eye make-up.)

Since I have recently moved on to a more affordable skin care line, Oil of Olay, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this line also had an eye make-up remover, that was not only a make-up remover but a wrinkle treatment too? And it only cost $8.50 to $9.50 for a 6.7 oz bottle? AWESOME!

The first night I tried it I realized that this was great stuff! No stinging or blurred vision in my eyes. Creamy yet not greasy, easily works, and I haven't seen any bumps since using it! Since I have not yet gotten to the point of full blown crows feet, I cannot say if it has helped my fine lines, but maybe with a few more weeks use,...
...

I needed some facial wash, so I decided to go with an inexpensive bottle that I found at the grocery store. This bottle of face wash runs anywhere from $5 to $6, depending on where you shop.

I couldn't have been happier with the results. My skin is clean, not dry, clear and soft, and all for such a small price! And you can buy it at your local grocery store? No way! YES! I love it and highly recommend it!
...

The last one being my skincare. I thought that if I wanted smooth, clear skin I needed to break the bank, sorta speak. I finally decided to try some skin care products that were under $25, in this case in fact, only costing between $9.99 and $10.99, depending on where you shop. (Oil of Olay products are frequently on sale too.) I remembered when I was a kid - my Mom's pink bottle of Oil of Olay in the cupboard, and thought why don't I give it a try?

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice light moisturizer, that soaks in quickly and keeps my skin nourished all day long. It blends well with my foundation and I have noticed a decrease in dry spots and in breakouts since using it. It's amazing! And you can't beat the price!
...

eryndiane says "Intriguing story of the world of teens, and a family crisis..." about The Tenth Circle

The Tenth Circle

By Jodi Picoult

The storyline:

This book is an amazing story of a small family of three. The Mom is a busy professor at the local college, the dad stays home and writes comics and takes care of the family and the daughter is just 15 years old, her name, is Trixie. She has just had her heart broken by her first boyfriend, and unfortunately is not able to accept it. This leads to a party where things go wrong and Trixie is raped. From here the story really delves in to the life of this family - past and present and how they are going to keep themselves together and continue on. It also has a great "whodunit" quality to it that really keeps you on the edge of your seat.

My take:

I really liked this book. I couldn't put it down. After reading it I realized it was made in to a movie on lifetime this past June, so I am going to download it on iTunes so I can watch it. After their father dies their mother moves them to a small town in Florida where they live in a run down little trailer owned by a motel owner, where their mother works as a bookkeeper for the motel. Bird makes friends with the mysterious older woman, Ms. Zora, who helps her through the hard times with "Mama", a drunken abusive woman, who continues to grieve over her abusive husband's death.

My thoughts -

This book is an amazing tale of dignity and forgiveness. This book follows Bird through one horrible home to another, her parents abuse and alcoholism, to a place where you hope she can find some solace. It's hard to believe that Bird is only a nine year old girl, she seems to be wise beyond her years. I enjoyed this book, and had the feeling, after reading the authors profile, that some of this book may have come from her memory, which made the book...
...

Crazy 8 is a new store that is associated with Gymboree but with kids clothing that is about half the price and a little more funky then what Gymboree has to offer.

Until recently the only way I was able to buy from Crazy 8 was on-line as there was no local store, but two weeks ago their local store opened and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw and the sales that were offered.

Initially I was looking for a cute pair of jeans for my son, after seeing some my friends had purchased for their son from Crazy 8, I had to try them for my son. They are just adorable and so very durable. From there I was hooked on the jeans and looking at all the deals everytime I received an e-mail.

I purchased over half of my daughter's back to school clothes at my first store visit. They have the coolest clothes for boys and girls, the designers use really funky colors and really awesome designs. They are different from Gymboree as the clothes have more of a trendy edge, whereas Gymboree is a little...
...

eryndiane says "An easy survey site where you actually make a little money..." about SurveySpot.com

I have been taking surveys on-line for about three years now. I feel that I am pretty survey site savvy, as I have visited about every survey site out there and have made a list of the top survey sites, and the ones that I feel are just a scam. Surveyspot is definitely not a scam. There web site is very straight forward and easy to follow and their survey invitations provide all the information you need to decide if you want to take the survey being offered, like what the survey is about, how long it will take to fill it out, (if you are accepted), and if there is any cash incentive for taking the survey. They don't often offer cash for surveys, but when they do the surveys fill up fast so if you are interested in a cash incentive, you need to check your e-mail at least twice a day. Unfortunately like other survey sites, they do not offer a points system that accrues towards money or gift cards. However, they do occasionally send out free products for testing, and every time you click...
...

eryndiane says "A good idea for your little bug lover....however...." about Curious Toys Curious Exo Bonz Deluxe Kit

My daughter received this can of Curious Toys Exo Bonz for Christmas last year. Its a fun idea for kids who have a good imagination because the pieces allow you to make your own bugs. The kit has 54 interchangeable creepy-crawly pieces. And it is for ages 5 and up.

Unfortunately while my daughter played with this building set - we had three major pieces break. Since she still wanted to play with the set, I glued the broken pieces back together, but because she likes the bugs to interact, I don't think the glue will last long.

Even though this can of toys won the Family Fun Magazine Toy of the Year Award, I feel that the construction of the interchangeable pieces was not durable. I think that this toy would have been a lot more fun if we didn't have to glue parts together and then worry that they would fall apart again while playing with them.

...

eryndiane says "Printer problems from the beginning...." about Lexmark X1240 All in One Printer

When we purchased our first Dell desktop computer, it came with Lexmark printer X1185. This printer worked great for a couple of years and then it was time to buy a new one. I thought that this printer had served us well, so I decided to buy another Lexmark. After studying what printers were available at the time, I choose the X1240. I compared the abilities to our previous printer and thought I was getting something very similar. Unfortunately, it was not the same, not even close.

First of all the new printer could not print pictures at or near a high enough quality to qualify as a photo printer. Second of all - this printer is not Vista compatible. And finally, after the first 3-6 months the biggest problem began. Initially it seemed to be that the ink was low but after purchasing new ink, the problem continued. Items, basic items, would not even print out in black and white, not to mention color. I contacted Lexmark for assistance but was only given the same advice, to clean the ink...
...

eryndiane says "The best american food in this little town....." about L and M Firehouse - Orting, WA

L&M Firehouse

When we first moved to the small town in Orting we were hard pressed to find a decent restaurant serving all American food. Since we have children at home we were not able to try the L&M Firehouse food or drink until almost a year after our move. We were pleasantly surprised. The food is delightful! It is definitely the best American food in town! They have a large menu, and large portions at inexpensive prices, and a full bar to boot! And for those of you who like sports, they have a lot of TVs with all different sports playing at all times. They have pool and one whole section of pull tabs for the gamblers. The wait staff are incredibly diligent and very friendly. This bar also brings the Harley riders! That may be because it's located on a drive friendly scenic highway, or it could be that the owners are Harley riders themselves. It definitely adds to the nightlife and the color of this restaurant/bar and makes for a fun time! And to add to all that fun, on the weekends...
...

eryndiane says "Fresh, unique, inviting - all the things I like in a scent...." about Lolita Lempicka 3.4oz Spray by Lolita Lempicka for Women

Lolita Lempicka

I adore this perfume! I received it as a gift and was surprised that I enjoyed the scent as much as I did, and still do! I think that choosing perfume for oneself is such a personal choice, that I never thought I could receive one as a gift and feel so excited about it. (I suppose I would consider myself very choosy when it comes to scent and smells.) I have been wearing Lolita perfume for over a year now and my love for it is still going strong! The packaging is very attractive and different from any other perfume bottle I have seen and I have yet to meet another person that wears this scent. I have received many compliments on this fragrance. And it is affordable too!

Lolita Lempicka has such a unique smell, not too fruity and not too spicy but something fresh and inviting that I wear it almost every day - even when it's just a day at home with the kids!
...

eryndiane says "An irresistible tale of two familes, with one girl in common...." about Portrait in Sepia: A Novel

Portrait in Sepia: A Novel

by

Isabel Allende

The storyline:

This story follows the life of Aurora Del Valle, born in 1862, who spends her first five years of life living in what is now considered china town in San Francisco, with her Chilean-Chinese maternal grandparents. When tragedy hits, she is taken away to another world that revolves around her paternal grandmother Paulina Del Valle. As she grows and her Grandmother moves her to Chile, she tries to unravel the mystery of her past. This is a tale of broken childhoods, self acceptance, the ravages of war but mostly of discovery. Aurora finds herself through photography and close family ties to emerge as a strong independent woman.

My viewpoint:

This historical drama is an amazing tale. I particularly enjoyed the way the author really makes you feel for all characters in the book whether you would view them as good or bad.

For those of you who love a book that encompasses an intricate family drama, then this is the book for you.
...
