endeavor1111 says "Customer service shines through" about Amazon.com

Amazon now sells a wide array of products -- everything from books to clothing to electronics to food. They helped me in college with their used books program. They helped me in my apartment with their non-perishable food products that simply can't be found in my small town. They helped me when I moved into my first home with a wide array of home improvement tools. On occassion, despite their decent shipping methods, items do get damaged (I remember an incident with light bulbs). Their return system is easy and automated. A live, friendly customer service person is waiting if you need their help. They ship you a replacement before even receiving the damaged item.

In this day and age, a company like this deserves a wow! Good job Amazon!
...

endeavor1111 says "A rare American company - WONDERFUL!" about Google

Google provides solid products (or sometimes just "as to be expected" products when they are in beta) to the Internet community, usually at no cost. Who foots the bill? Large corporations, medium businesses, and small businesses all competing for your attention. Yet sometimes Google will provide a product that offers much good, yet has no dicernable way of making them any money. They do it anyway, and that is what makes them great. They are obsessed with information, in any capacity, and as long as they stick with the noble mission of making information accessible to all, this company will fly for decades!

...

endeavor1111 says "Watch the signup process" about Verizon DSL

I have been using Verizon DSL for some time now, and it is a solid service that offers the promised speeds. However, getting to this point hasn't been easy. Verizon flaunts many promotional offers to attract new customers -- everything from free equipment to a few free months of service to flat out cutting you a check to convert over from cable. Actually receiving these things is another thing. I had to call their representatives (who are like robots) numerous times, trying to convince them that I was indeed supposed to get these offers after signing up. But what are you to do? The billing is linked to your phone bill, and you'd better believe they will go after your credit if you attempt to refuse an unfair charge, in addition to tacking on rediculous late fees that quickly rack up into the hundreds. They don't just shut off your service any more, ohhh no, they want to get those fees in there and strongarm you into paying. So just be careful out there, and don't take......

endeavor1111 says "Click on EVERY Vonage web ad you can - it costs them each time" about Vonage

Vonage claims it is a "pay as you go" service without complex contracts. Read the fine, fine print.... they charge you an early termination fee if you close within the first year. What's worse, this company doesn't bill you, they simply use the credit card information that's required when you open an account. What's worse worse, they don't even tell you about this early termination fee until seconds after they disconnect your service. I called to cancel early in the month. Not only did I get charged for the WHOLE month (no pro-rating), but they literally cut service the second I hung up with them and refused to provide me with service for the remainder of the month (that they charged me for). Absolutely rediculous service -- I now click on EVERY Vonage web ad several times, until I have costed them well beyond the $40 "early termination fee."...

endeavor1111 says "Gobbles up home town cable company, terrible customer service!" about Time Warner Cable - Company

I moved, across town. They charge $35 to "hookup" your service when you relocate, on top of the rediculously high monthly prices they charge, even if they don't physically have to hook anything up (i.e. when you move in to a home or apartment that has just been moved out of and the cable isn't disconnected). Time Warner's customer service speaks well and is polite, but the company as a whole does not care about its customers....

endeavor1111 says "What happened to WalMart's community involvement?" about Walmart - All locations, Nationwide

WalMart used to be a company that valued community involvement. Its employees (associates) would be out front raising funds for various causes. I worked at WalMart in my younger years, and I remember standing out cooking hotdogs for the American Cancer Society. I've been very disappointed with WalMart's staff lately. This community involvement is gone, and most employees seem unconcerned if not right down unapproachable....
