dovey says "must read sleep book for parents of new babies " about the 90-minute baby sleep program

I have read at least 10 books on sleep for babies. The 90-minute sleep program by Polly Moore is in my top 3. This book is written by a sleep researcher and a mother. the theory behind the book is that babies have a 90 minute cycle, a biological rhythm called the basic rest and activity cycle, or BRAC. At the end of this cycle is when baby is easiest to lull to sleep. The BRAC is scientifically proven and Polly Moore explains how to use this cycle to encourage the best sleep possible for baby...and you! — The 90-minute sleep program is a very thorough yet thankfully simple book to read and follow. The best thing about this book is how gentle it is in it's execution of the plan. There is no need for crying it out or letting baby feel distressed. It is about following natural rhythms and encouraging sleep. The book talks about how the plan works for different situations, like co-sleeping for example, or travel. Again, it allows for...

dovey says "swivel bath ring keeps baby in place and mommy dry!" about Safety 1st swivel bath ring

I wanted to review this Safety 1st Swivel bath ring for a couple reasons. First, I like this product and find it helpful. Second, many people buy these second hand, or get them handed down, and may not have the safety information they should. — This swivel bath ring is a seat for a baby who is able to sit upright and has outgrown the infant tub. The baby sits in it as it is suctioned to the tub bottom. It can swivel around to reach all sides of baby, and has these decorative bead type things on the front for baby to twirl. The bottom has four suction cups, which will not work on a textured tub bottom. This is key! If you have a texture on the tub floor, and most people now do, this product will not work, it just won't be safe. — My baby has always been bathed in the sink in an infant bath covered with a big sponge made for baby baths. This was always easy and comfortable, until she was too long and in danger of really hurting her head on the porcelain...

dovey says "Cleans my entire tile shower, quick and easy!" about Casabella Swivel Tub & Tile Cleaner

Yay, finally found the tool I was looking for to get my tub and shower clean. The Casabella swivel tub & tile scrubber is a time and labor saver...on a stick! This handy tool is my new weapon of choice against soap scum. The telescopic wand extends from 29 to 44 inches, making it easy for me to clean all the way to the top of my shower. The curved head swivels all around, making it easy to get into corners. The pad is non abrasive and can be replaced. — I have used other wand type cleaning tools, but I have a jet tub that has odd curves and is extremely difficult to get clean without climbing into the tub with a small brush. The Casabella tub & tile scrubber saves my back and knuckles. It really cleans all the edges and surfaces thanks to the swivel head. The head easily gets into corners. The Casabella is one tool I can use for my tub, the glass doors, and the shower. I save time and effort and I really appreciate...

dovey says "Dove Clinical protection with moisturizers keeps me fresh" about Dove Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant, Ultimate Clear, Cool Essentials

Dove Clinical Protection cool essentials deodorant with moisturizers really does keep me feeling fresh and dry. Since having my last child five months ago, my body chemistry has changed. I have gone through so many different brands of deodorant in an attempt to find one that works for me. I was getting so discouraged, i even tried my husband's brand! It was working better than the brands I had been trying, but my husband said me smelling like a dude wasn't working for him! I had a coupon for this so I figured I would try it. The Dove clinical protection was actually a bit cheaper than a couple other brands of clinical protection. The cool essentials scent is OK. The best way I can describe it; sweet. Thankfully it is not too strong and certainly better than the glacial fresh scent I had been sporting. — Dove deodorant is applied by turning the dial at the bottom pushing the cream through little holes in the top. It goes on like a thick lotion. I like...

Kashi TLC all natural chewy oatmeal raisin flax cookies look so good on the picture on the box. These cookies have no hydrogenated oils, are all natural, made with whole grain, high fiber and have omega-3 in them. Sounds really healthy and the picture looks so yummy and I love oatmeal cookies. So these should be perfect. — Well, if you are expecting anything approximating a cookie you are in for some serious disappointment. These aren' t cookies. These Kashi TLC oatmeal raisin flax things are like a mouthful of pure, dry, healthy. Like granola, only without the crunch and less flavor. — I think Kashi makes good products and I have enjoyed their bars. But for 130 calories for one little cookie(i laugh calling it that), I expect something at least pleasant tasting. On the plus side, my dog wally really loves them and I can use the 130 calories for my cheesecake pudding! ...

I recently started using Pantene Silk Transformation Creme, or Silkining Adoucir as it states on the container. This is probably the sixth product I have tried to tame my frizzy fly away hair. Since having a baby, my previously smooth, wavy, thick mane has come to resemble a five year olds tooth brush. The one that now gets used for cleaning the gunk around the sink. Sad. — I was in deperate need of something that could smooth the new hair that was growing seemingly straight out of my head. I needed a product that could add some shine to the half of my hair that had managed to stay attached to my scalp. Pantene Silk Transformation creme is the product I had been looking for. This creamy lotion smells great, like the rest of the Pantene line. The creme is not sticky like a gel, and it rinses out easily. You can use this on wet or dry hair. You pump a small amount in your hand, apply it to your hair and comb it through. I...

I got this Dove Beauty Body Wash for sensitive skin at the pediatrician's office. The Doctor recommends it for kids who suffer with skin problems. I wanted to try it as I have very dry skin that is sometimes hard to control. The skin on my face is sensitive and I have had a hard time finding a wash that doesn't bother me. — Dove Beauty Body Wash for sensitive skin is a white cream wash that has a slight clean scent to it. It is unscented of added perfumes and is skin PH balanced. This wash is very much like a thick lotion, but add a little water and it really lathers up. I put a very small amount on the puff and it made a thick creamy lather. I shaved with it and was impressed with how well the lather held up and how smooth my skin was afterwords. — I tried it on my face, using only a very small amount and rinsed it very quickly after applying it. It didn't irritate my skin. But I would probably not continue to use this on my face as...

dovey says "10 minutes, no roots, amazing!" about Clairol Nice N Easy Root Touch Up, Hair Color, Dark Blonde No.7 Kit

Clairol Nice N Easy Root touch up really works! I had a family party to go to and noticed I had roots. I had no time to get to the salon or go to the store. I had picked this up on a whim a little while ago, but had been afraid to try it. — My hair is medium reddish blond. I had picked up the dark blond as the only colors to choose from were medium brown, dark auburn, or dark blond. I just brushed on the mixture as per the directions to my hairline and where I part my hair. Ten minutes later I rinsed it and dried it and it was seamless! I saved myself 75 dollars, the cost of my salon color. — I don't know how the match can be this good, especially since my hair is not the color of the girl on the box. But it is! The reason this does not get 5 stars is because the tub they provide to mix the color in is just too small. It was a pain to mix without spilling. — I will be keeping a box of this Clairol Root Touch up on hand from now...

dovey says "Ultrasonic Bark Control, a peaceful solution to a yappy pup " about Petsafe Stationary Ultrasonic Bark Control #PBC 1000 19

The Ultrasonic Bark Control system by Petsafe is a small device that houses a microphone. Upon "hearing" your dog barking, it emits a two second tone that startles the dog and interrupts the barking. After a few times the dog associates his barking with the awful(to him) noise. The noise is barely audible to humans. — I have three dogs and two of them love to hear themselves. A leaf falling off a tree into their territory is cause for alarm. A squirrel on the fence is a major breach and requires loud and ferocious yips until the offending rodent is well beyond the perimeter of our yard. Well, as much as I do appreciate the protection from squirrels and falling leaves, and every kid on a bike, jogger, mailman, UPS guy, you get the idea, my family really wanted things to quiet down around here. My husband recommended outplacement, thinking someone else may need their yard de-squirreled, but the thought of losing one of our furry family was too much to bare....

One morning we went into our baby's room to find she had moved her face dangerously close to the crib bumper. We wanted a bumper to keep her arms and legs in the crib and protect her head from bumping, but we were afraid she could suffocate if her face got into the bumper. We asked friends what they did and one of them mentioned this product, Breathable Baby breathable crib bumper. — I can not believe I haden't heard about this before! This bumper is a breathable mesh, with a satin ribbon on the top and the bottom and secured with very strong velcro. The Breathable Baby bumper comes in two pieces. The short piece goes on the front, so you can still move the front up and down. The Bumper itself is not as cushy as a traditional bumper, but there is a softness to it. There are no prints, but you can get a couple different colors and the satin trim is nice. The bumper is attractive, if somewhat plain. It could have been totally ugly and I still...

I love my Keurig Premium Coffee System B70! I never would have purchased this for myself, I think it is out of my budget for a coffee maker. But since I was given this (thank you very much) I was very excited to try it out. Being practical and let's say, frugal, I was skeptical that this would work as good as it looks. It is quite fancy looking with it's blue back-lights and sleek, shiny design. A little out of place in my humble kitchen, it definitely makes my Black n Decker, cup-at-a-time envious! Since I rarely entertain (guests, that is), I always use a cup at a time maker. I have a large Krups I use at holidays. This Kuerig will be fine for that now too, as it works very quickly and it will be nice to be able to make a cup of decaf or flavored coffee for whoever wants it.
Jell-o brand instant pudding is an old favorite in this home. My husband and I both grew up with Jell-o brand pudding in our house. I have bought store brands instead for the chocolate flavor, but for this flavor, cheesecake, I really do prefer the Jell-o brand. — I was looking for a way to have the flavor of cheesecake without the calories, and I wanted something i could make easily and quickly. You just can't get much easier than instant pudding. I use skim milk, and it still sets great and tastes great. The Jell-o brand goes on sale quite often and I pick up several boxes at once of the different flavors. It is so easy to make, my daughter loves to help. There is never any left over. — The pudding is very creamy and rich tasting, very close to the cheesecake in flavor.

I am not usually into name brands for kids clothes, if it is cute and functional and the price is right, I buy it. But I really have found that Carters consistently makes great kids clothes. I have never had a problem with anything falling apart, and I find the sizing to be perfect and a tad generous. — I have used several brands of onsies, but these are the best. The snaps are bigger and work better. I hate fumbling with little snaps! Also the crotch seam that the snaps are sewn into are reinforced. On most other brands this area is not as thick and the snaps can pull out(rip out) of the cloth. The seams are stitched nicely, too. I really like the onesies with no big tag hanging out that can irritate babies neck. — These wash well, maintaining their shape and size. The variety is amazing and always updating. And I have found these in TJMaxx for a fraction of the cost you'd pay at JC Penny. I am fortunate enough to live close to an outlet so I can get great...

I love netflix! We just can't afford to go to the movies anymore. But we still want to see them. This Internet mail movie service is the way to go. I love the Netflix Internet site, it really helps me choose what movies I might like. You can also leave feedback on movies you watched so they can suggest other movies you may like. The selection is really incredible. The amount of choices is great as all three of us movie lovers here like to watch different genres. Since the price is so reasonable, we often experiment and rent movies we might not otherwise choose. We introduced ourselves to anime this way and foreign films we never would have seen otherwise. — Since we have a real little one at home, it isn't convenient to go to the local blockbuster. Plus they are so expensive! And the cost of turning in a late movie, forget it.(our blockbuster is old fashioned that way) With netflix you can take your time.

I have tried so many brands of diapers! Usually my decision is based on price. I shop the sales with coupons. I have to admit at night i only use Pampers swaddlers and that is that. During the day, i can change my daughter as necessary so i try to get the best value. — Target diapers are a really good price without needed coupons or sales. They are your basic diaper. No stretchy tabs, no perfume, no mesh lining. Just your basic diaper. The decoration is even basic, but really, who cares about that. I have never had a leak. That said, I change my daughter often and have never really put these diapers to the test. I can tell you that I have had problems with the CVS brand diapers...the only brand I won't buy no matter how cheap, but that is another review! — I say if you can change your child on a regular basis, go with the Target, there is no need for a more expensive name brand....

Over all the Fisher Price Playful Puppy bouncer is a very good product. The seat is sturdy and comfortable. The colors are nice, not too bold or bright or busy. The seat also bounces fairly easily so the child can bounce himself/herself, or you can put your foot against it and make it go with hardly any effort. The chair is light and easy to move. — The toy bar is a puppy that moves his legs and head and makes little barking noises(they aren't loud). There are two toys that hang down, one soft and one hard. When moved, the dog moves and makes music. The music is nice, never loud or sharp sounding or mechanical sounding. There is a vibration mode as well. The baby can make the toy go and music with his/her hands or feet or the caregiver can turn it on. — My daughter loves this seat and lights up when put in it. She likes to bounce herself and talks to the puppy. She likes the vibration for a little bit, some babies really like it, some hate it. She...

I picked up these Quaker Mini Delights 90 calorie packs on a whim. They were on sale and I was looking to pick up some healthy snacks that were quick and easy to eat. I have a 13 week baby at home and I am trying to lose the last 5-7 pounds that are still hanging on to the mid-section. — These Mini Delights are truly delightful. They are made from multi-grains and have only 90 calories per pack. If they weren't prepackaged I would eat three times as many and tell myself it was ok as they are healthy. So, thankfully, Quaker has done the rationing for me. I bought the caramel flavor. They come in chocolate mint, peanut butter, buttered popcorn, chocolate drizzle, and Cinnamon struesel. I will be trying all of them...except the popcorn, too plain. — I love the caramel flavor and I really can't believe how satisfying these were for me.
dovey says "small and quiet operation for whole room cooling " about Honeywell Fresh Breeze tower fan

I was desperate for a fan that I could put in my baby's room that would not take up space, would really cool, would be safe from little fingers and clumsy dogs, not so loud as to keep me from hearing through the monitor. — I found it in this Honeywell tower fan. The model we got is from Home Depot and is fancier than I needed. It has a thermostat...if I am needing the fan, I know it's hot, I don't need the exact number...but some people may like that. It has a remote control, I will never use that. It has multi-settings and oscillating features. It is long and narrow so it truly saves space. It is quiet for a fan. You can pick it up and carry it from a built in depression, this is good design in my opinion. Also the remote tucks in to its place on the top when you aren't using it, again, very well designed. The back of the fan is a large curved filter, This keeps the dust from recirculated throughout the room. I really like the idea of that. The filter pops out...

dovey says "I want to like this, but I don't" about Folgers Gourmet Supreme Coffee

I want to like this coffee, I love the commercials, I love the packaging, I like the price, but I don't like the taste. I find Folgers a bit bitter and not flavorful at all. Even when I make it strong, the only flavor that comes through for me is bitter. I will try any brand, and I have tried many. I love my cup of coffee in the morning, but i really am not too picky about it. As long as it is hot, has caffeine, and has a robust and smooth flavor. Many people have grown up around this coffee and many people like it. The price is right and there are often coupons for it. I just can't recommend it. I only have one cup a day and I wouldn't waste it on this lackluster brand. —...

dovey says "Helps the whole family get better sleep" about Homedics - Sound Spa Lullaby Relaxation Machine

This little machine has proven invaluable to my family. The sound spa has 6 different sounds, heartbeat, rain, stream, white noise, ocean and summer night. There is a volume control and a timer for up to an hour if you want it to turn off on its own. You can plug it in or use batteries. The design is simple and plain and very easy to use, very straightforward. — I use this in my bedroom to help block the noise of my husbands snoring, and outside noises. My 2 children each have one and they really help the kids sleep through the night. They like the white noise setting, but i have tried them all when my newborn was fussy and it was really amazing how the sounds calmed her down. Even now she likes to listen to the different sounds. — This is a cheapy, there are more elaborate ones on the market. But this works fine. I do notice some of the sound loops that perhaps the more pricey ones wouldn't have. And if you lose power you have to turn it back on, even with...
