When my husband and I were shopping around for a good paper shredder, identity theft was the biggest subject on most news stations. We were drawn to Royals Cross-Cut because it shreds the papers in both directions leaving nothing readable or traceable. At the time, it was the most expensive shredder that we were looking at but felt that the safety features were well worth the extra investment. We've had ours for a number of years and it still works like new. What I also found to be a bonus feature is that you can shred up to 10 copies of standard 8 x 10 paper at one time. If you invest in an off brand or inexpensive model than you are going to end up paying more in the long run because the device will not last long. Also other brands only have the single direction cutters which don't destroy what you are putting into them so they defeat the purpose. When I received the Good-Glo Flameless Wax Candle Set I couldn't be more thrilled. My children are all grown now but I do have my pets (two cats and a dog) and I was always leary of regular scented candles for fear they would bump into them and cause a fire. I love candles so these seemed to be an answer to my worries. I never heard of this brand, I received them as a gift. I found out that they run on batteries which makes the flicker. The candles themselves never get warm so there is no need to worry about that. The main problem is that they lose the scent quickly and after a few days you can't even tell that they are on. Also they go through batteries quite quickly and that can become an expense after a while. I have since graduated to candle warmers and plates which are divine and safe also. Sorry, Good-Glo but this person cannot give an honest review by recommending this product. Good-Glo is not worth your hard earned dollars.

Living in the country (surrounded by trees) has it's definite advantages and disadvantages. I've never seen so much natural beauty on a daily basis but the downfall of all the trees is that whenever the wind blows and tangles up with power lines...everyone in our neighborhood loses their power. This happens quite frequently during the summer months and I'll never forget the day that my husband purposely came home early to watch the All-Star Baseball Game. As soon as he sat down to turn on our huge HD television...the thing cut out. He ran out of the front door so fast that I didn't have a chance to ask him where he was going. About a half hour later He came in with All Power America's 3500 Watt Generator. Losing our power than was a blessing because we never have to worry about that again. It runs on Gasoline and keeps everything running for eight hours or until you put more gas into the tank. It does sound a bit noisey but it's better than being without light and necessitites...

The first place our family members check for their dinner is in my Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker and it has benefited me in more ways than just the standard use. I got hooked on slow cooker's when I was working 12 hour days and I was just too tired to come home and make a hot meal. I learned way back than to throw everything into the slow cooker before I was off to work and by the time I'd get home....we would all have a ready meal. You can never over cook or burn your food in a slow cooker, in fact the meat tastes better because it is tender and melts in your mouth. Now that I am disabled and stay at home...My Hamilton Beach is like my best friend. I am on medication and must rest during the day. Again, I can stick just about anything in the crock pot in the AM and not have to worry about it until the family sits down for dinner. In the summer, when noone wants to use a traditional oven which makes a house too hot~~~~Hamilton Beach is the answer. I got an Excellent Name Brand...

When my daughter bought these Logitech Headphones for her desktop pc, I never realized in a thousand years how much that I would enjoy them myself also. Not only does she love to listen to her You Tube Music loud but if she isn't doing that, she is chatting to her friends online. She let me sample how clear the sound was for her and the silence for me (when she is using them) is more precious than words can say. I was kind of surprized because they are not that expensive and than again...they are not the least expensive headphones that you can find in the market either. But you get what you pay for. They are perfect for our family. My daughter is an adult who came home for awhile so there is no need for me to monitor her activities on the net. Logitech was always an outstanding name in the Computer Community even back when I was a sales person for small appliances. Their accessories would fly off the shelf. I'm happy to see that they are still going strong!

My family has resigned to the fact that if they are at the house I'm going to be taking photos. I don't know if you would call it a hobby or an addiction because I use my camera every single day. Through trial and error, I learned quite fast that the more memory a card has...the more photos it can handle. It has been a few years since I first bought my SanDisk 2 GB Memory card and I prefer not to erase those pictures. The card has well over 200 photos stored on it now with room for more. What makes SanDisc superb about their memory cards is that the quality of the pictures are as fresh as the day I took them. The good news now is that they have come down in price substantially. Yes, you can erase all of the photos and re-use this card over and over again. I bought a couple of them for our household. One to keep more important photos on and another that we can use and erase. I would be elated to receive more memory cards as a gift for future use. It's the little accessories...

My very first laptop pc was an Acer Aspire because I was impressed with the price. It seemed to be loaded with great features and the price was almost too good to be true. Well, saving a lot of money upfront really backfired for me in the long run because I use my cpu on a daily basis and it was just after one year old that the notebook shut down on me. My computer meant to me what most men's cars mean to them. Somehow the on/off switch completely broke and that was it. Manufacturer warranties only last the first year unless you buy an extended warranty through the reseller. Of course, I did not. Suffice to say this was one heck of an awful experience for me. When the time came when I could buy a new laptop I decided to spend the money and get the very best. I went with the Dell Studio 15. Acer is probably good for those who do not use their laptop as much as I do. I definitely won't take that route again.

There have been a few times in my life where I was out of state and could not find my favorite hair color kits by Clairol "Nice and Easy". I can think of a couple of times while vacationing on Marco Island in Florida when I couldn't find it there. So I opted for the Revlon which was available. They offered similar color choices and my hair did come out nice. The prices were always more expensive than what I what normally pay for my kits. No complaining though. Revlon did the trick for the time and I am grateful for that. And than there are the rare occasions that my store is out of my brand so I will now immediately reach for Revlon. There is a big difference in the scent of the brands and the conditioner that comes in each box. I actually like these home kits better than going and having my hair done professionally. I think there is more fullness and shine by doing it myself. They are both reasonably priced and saves you a lot of money in the long run.

Sometimes mothers really do know best and I followed in my mother's footsteps. I've been using Clairol all of my life to color my hair and can't think of a better brand. Years ago, I began using Nivea Skin cream and I loved the way it made my body feel soft and like a baby's behind. I was in my twenties at the time. Back than they had no anti-aging product so I took the liberty to moisturize my face with Nivea (I loved it that much)! Now, almost 30 years later I am complimented all of the time for looking years younger than 53 and I have to admit...the only thing I ever used is Nivea. Still til this day, I use it after every shrower and right before I go to bed. I haven't even upgraded by buying and using their anti-aging version that they have come out with. Nivea has always been a little bit expensive but it was one of those beauty items that I just couldn't do without. Sometimes you see immediate results with the products you choose to use. In this case, I was rewarded for using Nivea for so long and I'll always gladly share the great news about this fantastic product. It rocks!

I spurged and purchased Gold Bond because my feet were incredibly sore and I had heard that this was a great product. Of course, I got my hopes up because I was spending more money than I ever intended. I tried Gold Bond for a few weeks and couldn't tell if it was doing anything if at all. It was a true disappointment for me. I didn't like the smell at all either. I don't know what I expected would happen if I did use this product. I have thick, dry skin on my feet and thought it should have atleast softened it a little but no dice. I felt cheated. I don't know if the drugstore would take the bottle back or not but it feels good being able to relate my experience here. I am wondering if I expected too much. I thought it was a medication but I could have been wrong. Well, I know one person who won't be buying Gold Bond again. Was good to see that they did win over a few individuals who like their products here on Viewpoints.
