cotell says "Going Boldly into the Sea" about Tony Horwitz - Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going Where Captain Cook Has Gone Before

I finished it a bit late but I loved every minute of it. How amazing to know that much about something. To be able to recite off the top of your head all the countries Captain Cook visited, his family line, dates of events. Not to mention the wife with the patience of a saint to let him run around like that. I'm actually looking at picking up his other book "Baghdad without a Map" — — The thing I couldn't get over is how much he affected the places he visited. And I can see why he wasn't considered a hero to anyone but the English. I mean with him came disease, greed, violence and the destruction of the land ~ everything that is bad in today's time. — — What were once beautiful areas filled with gentle people became slums with no one ounce of good soil. But that being said, a person that didn't have his sensitivity to his power could have done a lot worse. I think he was smart enough to know how much power he had - he could have destroyed civilizations and...

cotell says "Don't Plan on Sleeping after reading this one" about Truman Capote - In Cold Blood: A True Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences Books

Before I forget, did anyone else notice that the book was dedicated to Harper Lee? — — So did the crime fit the punishment? Which character is worse? Perry who had an awful, disgusting childhood, was beaten, usually homeless, abused and treated like a "slave" but, according to him, killed 4 innocent people. Or Dick who had a standard childhood came from a good and strict family, played sports in high school, met the women of his dreams and married her. He didn't kill the family but he did instigate the crime and encouraged Perry to play it out until the end. Did they both deserve to die? Is Perry the worst of the two because he committed the actual murders or was Dick because there isn't any excuse to explain his life of crime? Is Perry better because he prevented Dick from committing rape before he shot Nancy's head off? (Don't mean to be crude but you get the idea) I'm curious to know what everyone thinks. — — I liked how Capote started the book before...

cotell says "Belongs In Everyone's Collection" about To Kill a Mockingbird

First, I looked up Harper Lee online and I'm afraid that this is her only published book. However, she did write a few articles that you can read online: — Love in other Words - Vogue - — http://mockingbird.chebucto.org/love.html — Christmas to me - McCalls - — http://mockingbird.chebucto.org/christmas.html — When Children Discover America - — http://mockingbird.chebucto.org/when.html — Romance and High Adventure - — http://mockingbird.chebucto.org/pickett.html — — Her full name is Nellie Harper Lee - I wonder if she dropped the Nellie part so publishers would mistakenly think she was a man and read her material. She is also still alive and living in Monroeville, Alabama. And once you read about her and her family, you will know that she is not the only amazing person in that family (guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). — — I loved Scout. In fact, I get dibs on that name for a little girl-...

cotell says "A great idea but save your money & take supplements instead" about Hollywood Diet Hollywood 24 Hour Miracle Diet 16 fl oz 473ml

I sat at home for a weekend with a friend and didn't eat anything for 48 hours (ok 40 hours). The first morning, I drank my breakfast and it didn't taste bad at all. You could taste the bananas and oranges and it had a very, very, mild mineral taste but it was acceptable. However, by the end of the day, knowing that, that was the only thing that I was going to taste for another 24 hours, made me sick to my stomach every time I took a sip. I made due my holding my breath as I drank it and then it was fine. Did I go crazy with hunger? Nope, by Saturday evening, there were no hunger pains at all. In fact the only time I was going truly crazy was on Sunday evening when I went to a friends house and watched her eat dinner and smelled the food. — — Did I lose weight, not 10 pounds but I felt great, my skin completely cleared up and I felt better about myself. — — It is a good idea for everyone to fast every now and then and this does give you the supplements that...

cotell says "I need more of a workout." about Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss

I've been doing yoga for over 4 years thru a yoga class but I wanted something I could do at home. — — I liked the idea of this DVD. Different levels for different stages of yoga. But the DVD cover is misleading. There are four levels each one is 45 minutes plus a 5 minute intro. So when the DVD says its a 4 hour long DVD, in reality there is only one- 45 minute workout done from 4 different angles which is focused on the person that you want to follow. — — I went to the hardest level hit play, got on my yoga mat and set myself up for a sweat. It never happened. I kept waiting for the workout. She called the poses different names than what my yoga instructor gave and from the books I have. — — She gave good direction and interesting information about the poses provided close-ups to make sure you were doing the poses correctly so I think this a great DVD for those starting yoga but I'm still looking for the DVD that will replace the yoga class...
