catmmry says "ZERO STARS! Dangerous, toxic product - DO NOT USE! " about Hartz 2 In 1 Flea Collar for Cats

The Hartz collars should be BANNED. The side effects (foaming at the mouth, vomitting, hair loss, intense itching) we've seen on the one cat we stupidly tried the collar out on are simply shocking and sad. I cannot believe these things are still being sold in neighborhood drugstores and convenience petstores! They are cheap, toxic, dangerous products that should be removed off the shelves.

New cat owners and buyers BEWARE!!!

Fleas are nightmares, but there are infinitely better alternatives to flea control than using the Hartz collar: weekly vaccuuming, keeping the humidity super low (30%-50%) at home, careful diatomaceous earth applications in dark and unfrequented nooks and crannies pets can't reach, annual boric acid carpet treatments (with pets removed from the area during the applications), using the Furminator daily on your pets to keep their fur sleek and knot-free, and feeding fresh raw, organic or premium cat foods.

If you just bought this product in desperation because...
...

catmmry says "Natural Balance is not for us." about Natural Balance Indoor Cat Formula Canned Food

We used Natural Balance for years, and were once firm believers. Natural Balance boasts an excellent list of ingredients, a reasonable price for a premium cat food, and is a specialty food sold only in specialty pet stores. They also offer a unique allergy-free formula, Venison and Green Pea, in both dry and wet food formats.

Why Natural Balance is not for us:

One of our cats died recently and prematurely from kidney failure. His early death may have been correlated to his consumption of recalled food from Natural Balance - which happened to be the allergy-free formula, Venison and Green Pea. The tainted Natural Balance food induced hiding behavior, diarrhea and vomitting in our poor kitty prior to his ultimate kidney failure. Our younger cats thankfully survived, but since the tragedy of our first cat's death, we have painstakingly researched and reevaluated our cat food choices.

Natural Balance is not for us.

Dandruff used to be a problem all of our cats had, and we took that as...
...

catmmry says "Great idea in theory..." about Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Pet Fountain

Petmate pet fountain - it really IS a great idea... in theory. We really want to believe in this product, but we are already looking into the third model replacement at this time.

First major con: Too bad the product's made of overpriced cheap plastic. Parts warp shape by third and fourth dishwashing,

Second major con: It is also incredibly high-maintenance! Taking apart and washing the fountain every day, drying it and putting it back together again is a 20 minute waste of time every day - but we did do this for awhile because our cats truly did drink more water from the fountain.

Third major con: Our older cat of six years mysteriously developed full-on feline eczema/acne about a month into using the Petmate pet fountain as well. Judging from similar complaints we have read online it is more than likely correlated to our cats introduction to the pet fountain.

Fourth major con: motor sputters and gives up every now and then.

Despite the mounting cons against Petmate pet fountain,...
...

catmmry says "Panasonic's Handsome Viera TV" about Panasonic - 32" Flat Screen TV

We bought this tv from the Sears at South Coast Plaza two years ago when we first moved to Orange County from Toronto, ON Canada. The Panasonic Viera was the only flat-screen tv in the store at the time with an attractive black frame in contrast with silver tilt backing and base, and even came highly recommended from several online and magazine reviews we read prior to walking into the store. It is certainly a sleek and lovely tv aesthetically, and it matches well with our current and increasing decor. Picture quality is steady and superb, and we find the color balance is more equalized on this model than on other sets with obvious red or green color dominance.

At the time, this tv cost twice what it costs now (heart bleed!), but we were proud of our first tv purchase here and felt it was worth every penny. We may buy the smaller 26-incher for the bedroom in the same model line now that it is even more affordable than ever.

...
