My husband and I searched for the perfect mattress for us for 1 year and a half. We went to Art Van, Gardner White, Macy's, and other local mattress shops. We also considered the Sleep Number bed, which online I mostly hear bad stories about so we decided not to spend a fortune on that.

I ended up being put on bedrest 2 months ago due to preterm labor with my 3rd pregnancy so I went on a mission on my laptop to find the perfect mattress for us that would LAST a long time. I pretty much decided that we needed a latex foam mattress.

Memory foam, to me, was not comfortable (to hard at first when you sit or lay on it) gets too hot, and don't like the way you sink in and then can't get out. BTW we hate those tempurpedic pillows we paid $150 for.

I didn't want to get a spring mattress because all the ones we ever slept on squeaked and never held up very long. Plus they only have 10 year warranties with really only about 5-7 year life out it (maybe even less).

My husband and I had different comfort levels when it came to mattresses so we decided to purchase the sleep number bed. We purchased ours about 4 or 5 years ago. If you are looking for soft, this is not your bed. I can only speak from my experience and that is that when you lower the sleep number to "soften" the mattress, it just lowers your body into a "trench" which is not particularly any softer.

If you are planning on buying this bed, go to the store and try it one more time and look for what I'm talking about. Really think about whether the bed is getting softer or just lowering you into a hole. Then try to get out of that hole.....it can be funny. Good luck with whatever you decide. I purchased my Select Comfort Sleep Number bed (#5000 King, adjustable) for $4739, Sept06.

July08, I had to replace the pump system (digital display wasn't showing all the units). Luckily, the full warranty was in effect so it cost $0.

May09, I had to replace one of the adjustable motors and while the motor was still under warranty, the labor to install it was not. Shipping ($11) / Labor ($250).

June09, I discovered the digital display wasn't showing all the units again. Customer service told me they'd have to replace the pump system and although it was less than a year since they replaced it the last time, the warranty defaulted back to the original purchase, not the replacement date. Therefore, this would cost me $126!

In just 2-1/2 years, I've pumped an additional $400 into my $4700 Sleep Number Bed!

My sleep number is 80...and my name is Sucker.

4 years ago I purchased a Kings Down bed (well over the amount I budgeted for) because I fell for the whole schpeel! Come lay on this, here's what I would recommend, ita has a lifetime warranty, blah, blah, blah! Well now that I have problems the lifetime warranty dropped down to 10 years, but the kicker is Kings Down allows itself 2" for the mattress to sink!! So when you are only at 1"..."keep an eye on it and call us when it starts to sag more!" Are you kidding me?! 2" is constantly rolling into eachother in the middle of the bed, 2" is always waking up with back pain, 2" is never feeling like you slept a full night, 2" is TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

We just got our PacDown Plus a few weeks ago, and I can't tell you how thankful I am for the rest. As a mother of a ten-month-old boy, and expecting his sister in a little less than two months, I hadn't had a good night's sleep in nearly two years.

We'd bought a new mattress only about a year ago... it was on sale, and featured a memory foam top layer over the traditional innersprings. Well, call me the "Princess and the Pea," but I could feel sore spots on my hip and shoulder waking me up in the night and making me hurt in the morning after just a few months.

All that's changed since we got this incredible bed. I was skeptical at first about buying something this big online, but my husband and I were sold on their strong record of customer service and their genuinely fair return policy. I really liked the fact that they donate their returns [though I can tell you I wouldn't return it if you paid me!], and they seemed, from the testimonials I read, that they truly treat people...

I have to write this review on the Thempurpedic Rhapsody Bed. It is by far the most comfortabe bed I have ever slept on in my fifty seven years. My husband and I tried every other mattress in the store, but could not find another one at any cost that measured up to the sheer comfort of this one. It is without a doubt worth every penny we paid for it many times over. I have suffered with arthritis for years, making it very hard to get a comfortable night's sleep. The first night I spent on the Tempurpedic mattress I knew we had made the right decision in picking the Rhapsody. I have now been sleeping on this mattress for over a year now. My husband also was having trouble resting at night. Every morning he would wake up sore from sleeping on our old mattress. Since the Temprupedic mattress has arrived, he too has had no more problem with getting a great night's sleep. We are both so grateful to have bought this bed, and would certainly recommend it to anyone else trying to...

I live in the UK but have nicked a US postcode so I could submit this review as I'm so desperate to tell someone how bad my Kingsdown mattress is and how frustrated I am. I like others, stupidly fell for being "analysed" on the scientific bed, the salesman advising: "you need the softest bed we have" which flies in the face of the well known advice that a firm bed is needed for bad backs. I have had it for a miserable 12 months.

Its so bad - it sags, it weighs a tonne, you can only use one side, it cost a fortune, it gives me excruitiating pain in my back and hip, I have to wake up to turn over, I get up for a rest from it in the night, I sleep on the very edge as its the firmest bit and sometimes fall out. Need I say anymore, I hate it so much.

I'm saving up for a firmer, cheaper one. Thanks for listening.

The Tempurpedic Memory Foam mattress feels like heaven when you first lay on it but in the middle of the night, it feels like you have been sleeping on the floor all night. It feels very hard. I had such a bad backache in the middle of every night, I ended up having to get up and sleep on the couch.

Tempurpedic apparently has pillow topped mattresses now. I have not tried one of those but of course it is too late now to return ours for a different one. They aren't cheap either so make sure you like it within the trial period.

I purchased this mattress with the idea that I was buying quality. Was reassured by the 10 year warranty and of course the sales person. Well, now I wake up everymorning with pain and a headache. The mattress sags like a hammack and there is nothing I can do about it. The warranty is worth nothing unless you can find a way to flatten the super thick pillowtop. Serta will send an inspector that will take a picture of the sagging. Of course they say if you can't see the sagging in the picture..there is no defect. Go cry in your pillow..it is all you can do. What junk...those sheep should be rack of lamb on the grill!!!

I did like the fact that you can select different numbers and had no trouble for a few years. Now my side of the bed keeps on going down. My husband called and they sent him some caps to see if it was the bed or the pump. It stayed up so it is the pump. We found out our wonderful 20 year warranty is not a full warranty. It is pro-rated after 2 years. So please be aware of this. I did not read the fine print and they lead us to believe that it was a true 20 year warranty. It will cost us $160 to get a new pump. We are not going to buy this. My husband had to take the bed completely apart and back together several times just to discover this. I will never spend so much for a bed that only lasts 4 years. I saw where one customer received her replacement parts with no shipping fees, but I was wondering how long she had the bed and if she had to pay for the parts. Buyer beware and please read all the fine print and do not believe what the salesman say.

I purchased a model 5000 Sleep Comfort bed, used it a short time and learned that the material in the pillow top cover compressed so badly it kept me from sleeping. It feels like I'm attempting to sleep in a hammock. I pumped the mattress up all it would go and the sag was still very visible and the additional pressure merely made me sore. I phoned the company and they basically said to "fluff" the mattress cover. After attempting several "fluffs", I called them back for a replacement. They said the compressing was normal and if I didn't want to PAY for a new mattress cover, tough. They were not sympathic to my plight at all. This was not an old mattress at all and I still feel the problem is with bad materials. I had purchased one of their beds previously, had it 20 years, and had no problems with it at all. This new one is the absolute pits. Beware buyer because you will be on your own with this outfit.

My husband and I have owned this mattress for over 4 months and we LOVE it! My husband has joint and back/neck problems and I have a bad back. My husband used to toss and turn all night and he finally sleeps well. I thought I was a light sleeper until we got this mattress...now I sleep in my "mold" that contours to my body.

We tested out a memory foam mattress at a near by Hotel and we really loved it however, we didn't love the price of the tempurpedic mattress. We went to our local mattress store and fell in love with Sealy Posturpedic True Form Memory option. I think Sealy's mattress doesn't get as hot as the tempurpedic. Overall we are very happy with our purchase!

As a queen-sized girl I need to have a mattress that supplies queen sized comfort and support. When we went shopping for a new mattress set - we tried many differnet brands across several retailers.My husband is a real sport and had no problem whatsoever rolling around in public on a variety of bedding styles and brands.

There are many different styles to consider - pillow top versus plain - pillow top on both sides or one, memory foam and adjustable settings for warmth, and firmness, etc.

Our previous bed was a water sleep system style bed - a glorified waterbed really - basically it is tubes of water incased in what looks like a normal mattress and boxsprings. This bed had given us terrific rest for some 10+ years - but we decided that we no longer wanted to sleep over water - I have advanced arthritis in my lower spine and hips and the waterbed sleeps a little on the cool side without a heater.

After wallowing all over town we decided to invest in a Stearns and Foster double pillow...

I love my bed so much I guarantee I will never sleep in another bed! It may be on the expensive side, but it is worth every penny. Until we bought this bed, we were getting new mattresses every 3 to 5 years because they became extremely uncomfortable. Up and down all night long, waking each other up getting in and out of bed...that doesn't happen with the Tempurpedic. I never feel any movement from my husband, whether he is rolling over or getting in or out of bed. I sleep longer and get a more restful nights sleep. After our first year on the Tempurpedic, I have no complaints and with the 20 year guarantee, I look forward to many more years of peaceful sleep. It really is everything they say it is...and the Tempurpedic pillows are fantastic too.

My husband and I enjoy our queen sized Sleep Number bed. We have always had trouble with agreeing on mattress firmness. Now we can customize it at the touch of a button.

The mattress is constructed so that there are two sides that can independently be inflated/deflated to individual comfort by a simple push of a button. No more rolling into the other person or sleeping on a mattress that is too hard or too soft.

We bought an optional feather down mattress cover which is quite comfortable and machine washable. You will need deep pocket sheets for the mattress. Sleep Number had a variety of these available or you can just make sure you are purchasing deep pocket fitted sheets.

There is one problem we have had and that is with the valve for the one side. We have had to replace it twice. It may have more to do with our bed frame which we had when we bought it. Although the Sleep Number mattress easily fits in it, the fit is probably not as good as it would be with a slightly...

This bed is GREAT for a couple who like different levels of firmness/softness in a mattress. This way, each person can adjust to their own comfort level. Also, since you can always add more air, you don't develop a "dent" like you would with a spring mattress. The ability to adjust firmness is nice if you need it to be different once in a while (you hurt your back and need more support, extra support during pregnancy) without having to buy a whole new mattress. It is very durable too, our dogs are off and on the bed all of the time and we have had no problems. You do have to reinflate it once every few days, especially in the winter.

We had the sleep by number bed for about 5 yrs. My side began losing air- contacted company was told since I didn't have their base it voided my warranty. We purchased a new Serta Sleeper. When we removed sleep by number my side of sleeper was full of mold/mildew inside the air chambers. Contacted company after the mattress had been removed to let them know about the problems. They in turn changed their story and tell me 'oh-is would have been covered you should have contacted us.' I was furious! I did contact them to no avail. But I love my Serta!

I was nervous about purchasing a mattress online and I spent a great deal of time researching different websites. I am a regular shopper at WalMart so I decided to check out their web site to see if they had any mattresses. After a great deal of skeptism I decided to purchase this mattress. (I was hoping for the best.)
When I picked up the mattress at the site to store area I was surprised to see how the mattress was packed, the box did not at all look like a mattress would fit into it. When we got it home we immediatelty opened it up and then removed the plastic that was vaccum sealed around it. To our suprise it expanded into a full sized mattress.
I would tell anyone to purchase this mattress. It is the most comfortable one that my husband and I have ever slept on. It looks like an expensive mattress, sleeps like an expensive mattress, withouth the expensive cost. WE LOVE IT....Thank you WalMart. (PS I have read a post about a chemical odor when opening... this did not happen with ours)...
