Reviewlady21 says "Above Average Band" about Amberian Dawn

Amberian Dawn is another finnish symphonic power metal band. the band was founded by several members of Amberian Dawn played together in another band called virtuocity but the band eventually split. while working on another band project Atheme One the members put out an ad searching for a classically trained female singer. eventually the found Heidi Parviainen (soubrette soprano) and former member of iconofear and after hearing a few samples it was decided that heidi was the vocalist the band was looking for and thus Amberian Dawn was formed.

some people may believe that Amberian Dawn was another Nightwish copycat since both bands are from finland and both have female vocalst (AD with heidi and Nightwish with former vocalist tarja). I doubt anyone would compaire AD with the current NW with anette.

anyhow to date Amberian Dawn has two albums and is currently working on a third album that is expected to be released in 2010.

Heidi's vocal ability is somewhat similar to tarja's except heidi's...
...

Yes ladies and gentlemen!make way for the gurus of metal!though they are not the ozzy osbourne of metal they do make their stamp in the metal genre.they are somewhere catagorized in the rap/metal industry, they are original none the less.when I first heard of them I didn't know what to think and that was their first album.that album eventually grew on me but it was when I heard FOLLOW THE LEADER is when I took notice.I was like"is this the same group?"well, yes it was and I absolutely enjoyed it.every song on it rocks and my brother got hooked on them, bought the cd and can recite word for word from them.I think they found their niche when they wrote this album and their music has gotten more versatility and has grown since their prior album. Now they have lost a member(head)to a more spiritual path,it is now up to KORN to keep the tethers together and find the true definition of their own path.
...

WOW!Icould not believe what I was hearing!this was at a show in chi-town il and it blew my mind. There were a few front bands playing and I was with a few band members of my own just hanging at the bar.just when I was about to place an order I was bumped by my bass player and all I can see him do was point, this is when the headliner started.before I turned around I could hear Arch enemy jamming and they were awesome but I did not expect a female frontman(woman)as I never seen nor heard of them before!I was completely awestruck. She kicked major a!!took control of the stage and everything,Ifound new respect for women in the metal genre.Well needless to say I've seen them a few times and got to meet with them and get autographs.the last time I saw them was at ozzfest in Alpine Valley, which is where I got to meet them and that is when they were playing their album doomsday machine.I think that cd totally rocks and can't wait for their next one.
...

First, Still Fantasy is definitely not one of his best albums. I would recommend Ye Hui Mei, his first Fantasy album, and his debut album "Jay," the most, but his third album, "Eight Dimensions" is also very good. Still I like this album very much. My favorite songs are Twilight's Seventh Chapter, and Red Imitation. Jay actually wrote a song like Twilight's Seventh Chapter in 2002, but there are also many differences as well. The reason he did this was to show everyone that he was still keeping his old style. The song is really genius and super creative. The music video also rocks. Red Imitation is also a nice song. I liked the part where he sings ai yo ai yo ai yo over and over again. It is very catchy. Other good songs are Listen to Your Mother, Faraway, Herbalist's Manual, White Windmill, and Chyrsanthemum Terrace. The song Tui Hou is very popular, but I do not actually like it very much. You should buy this album if you are a Jay Chou fan, but if you are new...
...

Before becoming a star as the smartest judge on the TV smash AMERICAN IDOL, Randy Jackson was a noted producer, songwriter, and session musician. In the manner of Quincy Jones's terrific albums from the 1980s and '90s, Jackson structures RANDY JACKSON'S MUSIC CLUB as a various artists record in all but name, with a variety of singers and musicians working in dance, rock, pop, and R&B forms. Highlights include Paula Abdul's Cher-like comeback single, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow," and Mariah Carey's gospel workout, "Understand." Other guests include Jason Mraz, Travis Tritt, Sam Moore, and Joss Stone.
As he never tires of telling us during his day gig as a judge on American Idol, Randy Jackson has an extensive history in the music business, playing with everybody from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to Journey and Stacy Lattisaw, but the question remains: if left to his own devices, what kind of record would he make? Well, wonder no more, as Jackson finally has gotten around...
...

curelupus says "My Christams is one of Andrea Bocelli's best works. It's a joy!" about Andrea Bocelli - my Christmas

Andrea Bocelli knocks another home run with his newest CD, "my Christmas". It's a wonderfull collection of traditional favorites, like "White Christmas", What Child is This", and "Jingle Bells"; along with "I Believe", "Cantique de Noel", and "God Bless Us EVeryone". Perhaps the most awe-inspiring cut on the CD is "The Lord's Prayer", which is masterfully sung, with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. In addition to the Mormon Tabreernacle Choir, Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige, The Muppets, Reba McEntire, and Katherine Jenkins are featured. While the album is sung mostly in English, Mr. Bocelli embelishes many of the songs with his native Italian, a little German, and a little French. Overall, it is beautiful and makes one want to play it over and over. INcluded is a DVD containint an interview between Andrea Bocelli and David Foster and a discussion, by them, about the performannces. I haven't watched this, so I cannot comment on it. The CD includes all the words to the songs. ...
...

Kelysian says "TSO - the most over-the-top show on earth." about Trans-Siberian Orchestra

WARNING - spoilers!

Our family likes the classical/rock Christmas stuff we'd heard from TSO, so I got us tickets for their show in Portland. I had heard there would be lasers.

Oh. My. God. This was the cheesiest, overblown, self-aggrandizing, over-the-top show I have ever witnessed - it even topped PARODIES of overblown rock shows. From the big hair to the scantily clad singers/dancers to the LED screens, lasers, fog and pyrotechnics, it transported us back to the 1980s, and not in a good way.

The first half of the show, the Christmas parable about the angel and such, was schmaltzy, preachy and shallow. Thankfully, TSO's well-known Christmas rock pieces were interspersed with the rest of the story and songs.

Oh, granted, most of the musicianship was excellent. I did really enjoy the couple of times the band drifted into a more bluesy landscape. And the pianist was top-notch, whether playing classical, rock or boogie-woogie.

But distracting from the musical joy were the lead violinist,...
...

This bass is one of the best sounding that i've found so far. it was deffinitly worth the money and the sound quality is pretty good. sometimes though the high tones can emmit a undesierable noise, though that issue can be solved with simply amp and soundboard adjustments, but other than that its a excellent bass. the sound was thick and heavey just the way i like it and it really did sound nice hen it was put togeather with the rest of the band. which was a huge thing for me when i was purchasing one since, well i play with a band. the bass sounded great with a pick or if you were slapping, no matter what it seamed like this was a bass that couldn't go wrong. this bass was deffinily wrth all my hard earned dollars and the pennys i've been saving up since i was 2, deffinitly wirth more than the dean i had before it, that sounded like crap. but down to the details this bass is bueatiful and will not fail you.
...

MJ was a great performer, and executive producer. I mean that he could line up some of the best support for his projects (despite artistic egos, as well as public opinion.) As a musician myself I can aprreciate that. But you're bloody bandwagons have got to go! The man is quite probably dead of a broken heart where the Hell were you when he was alive and in pain, Jerk! So you should put your celebratory, salutatory, congratulatory promotional products on "KTEL" where they belong , and don't forget to thank the man for dying. I'm from Lubbock, TX have worked at the Lubbock cemetery and have done so at Buddy Holley's grave and the appreciation he get's for making Lubbock famous after all is of vital importance to the worms in his grave.
...

Taylor Swift is absolutely an awesome young singer. Rarely do you find young people or even many artists that are truely talented. She can sing, write music, play guitar and much much more. Also, unlike many young female artists today she does not wear lots of makeup and her gimmick does not seem to be selling sex like so many others seem to rely on. In addition to innocent, awesome raw musical talent Ms. Taylor Swift seems to have acting and comedy talents as well. My father recently taped her on Saturday Night Live and her skits and acting was hilarious. Being a mother of a 7 year old boy it is nice to see a young artist that kids can actually see as a role model. I just wish there were a lot more young artists that were willing to turn their back to the sex sells motto and truly rely on their own talents. For any parent or anyone else for that matter that has not listened to this young woman you should truly give her a shot.
...

If I had only one sentence to describe metallice, it would be the greatest heavy metal band in the world!!! The band has been turning heads non stop in the world of rock and roll since the early 1980's. I cant think of one album that they have put out that I havent probably spent one hundred hrs listening to. This band has always been unique in its own way, including the five minute power solos, to the crazyness on stage. Like all bands though, they have gone ythrough some rough times, with their first bass guitarist getting killed to the singers addiction to be a boozer. now they are rocking out with another bassist, which in my opinion isnt as good as jason newstead but apparently he is getting the job done!!! its been an awesome almost thirty years of listening to the greatest band in the world and I am looking forward to hearing future albums because I know that it is going to be great!
...

Evanescence is a rock band from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. The word "evanescence" means to dissipate like mist.On October 22, 2003, Moody left the band abruptly in the middle of a European tour. The reasons for his departure were reportedly "creative differences". In an interview several months later [1], Lee said: "We'd gotten to a point that if something didn't change, we wouldn't have been able to make a second record". Since then, Lee has said it was almost a relief that he left because of tensions created within the band. Terry Balsamo from Cold joined the band, replacing Moody. Recently, Moody confessed he suffers from a bipolar disorder, and he was in crisis the day he left Evanescence.Evanescence is currently working on their second album, which is unnamed as of yet. The album has progressed slowly due to the band's desire to take their time with it, coupled with the band member's numerous side projects, health problems concerning guitarist Terry Balsamo and the controversy revolving...
...

Indie rock at its greatest - Mike Miller of Johnstown PA, along with twelve or so of his friends (however many show up that day), sing and play songs about just a regular guy and his regular life, with a political, existentialist twist. It's beautiful music, thought-provoking lyrics, and deep messages mixed together. Mike's voice is borderline annoying, but manages to keep it on the adorable side of things. They are truly skilled musicians, and Mike has a way with words that I have yet to find someone to compare to. They are, quite possibly, the best band in the world. Ever....

The album fearless was completely amazing. I loved it. I can relate to most of the songs. I downloaded all of them onto my ipod, and she is pretty much the only person I really listen to on my ipod anymore. Its just simply amazing how great of a voice she has. I just can't believe it. I can really relate to her on the song Fifteen. I have a sister that's fifteen, and most of the stuff is really true about her. I love the song White Horse too. It is soo cute. I also like the song Fearless itself. Its a really good song. When Love Story came out, I was in love with it, but now, it is played out. So is You Belong With Me. My favorite song is The Best Day. I can NEVER get tired of that song no matter what. It is just completely amazing and out standing. Its great. I also like Change and Forever and Always. I found out about these song a few months ago, and I listen to them several times a day, and I still like them.
...

Here I am again doing a review to get a quarter, hmm, only need nine hundred characters to get the credit for this review, well, guess I'll get started, Jason Derulo is a rapper that came out with the song "what you say", I personally like the song, however I can see that some would have a disagreeing opinion, It is Rap, the song talks about infidelity, and begging for forgiveness, yet the womans voice in the chorus will keep anyone from changing the station. This song is one of the top ten songs on the radio for the fifth or sixth week in a row now. I think it will probably stay in the top ten for another five or six weeks. I guess you just never know what everyone is goin to like until the list of top ten comes out and tells you what to like, well just need two hundred more character to get credit for this review so all I can say is you should definitely take a chance and listen to the song by Jason Derulo, listen, listen, and sing along if you like, listen, listen, time after time,...
...

vago626 says "This is a good and creative albulm!" about Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad

What I know about R&B and hip-hop can be summed up with the following words: “it’s not my thing really.” So when my friend, Calum, forced his ear phones on me and made me listen to the current single “Umbrella”, from Rihanna’s third album Good Girl Gone Bad (GGGB), I was surprised to find that I liked it. A Lot. In fact, that afternoon I went home and downloaded the entire album.

GGGB is loaded with dancey, hip-pop tracks that run the gamut from the Euro-dance electronica of “Please Don’t Stop The Music” – easily the best track on GGGB — to the guitar driven, Prince-esque sex romp “Shut Up And Drive”.

“Umbrella” feat. Jay-Z – what doesn’t Jay-Z feature on these days? – is the dancey, hooky first track from GGGB. Although Rihanna’s voice lacks the emotive qualities I usually prefer, electronic production makes-up for it with interesting vocal manipulations, giving her voice a knife-edged sex appeal. The song is helped in no small part by the addictive...
...

CutePrincess05 says "Humanoid" about Humanoid * by Tokio Hotel

This album was great. The new sound is ok.It takes time to get used to it.The best song of the new material is in my opinion, Phantomrider.Tokio Hotel is just perfect!

First, I'm a huge fan of them since 2007. I have both their first and second album.

Second, I love their new album but it's more of a techno rock almost. I totally understand that they wanted to try new sounds and stuff.

I LOVEI just bought it this morning and I love it. It's different than what their older stuff sounds like, but it's still them. If you're not sure if you want to buy it or not, go onto amazon.com and do a search for the cd, you can hear 30 second sound clips of all of the songs on the album.

But to answer your question, I really like it and I think it's definitely worth buying :-)

Their sound is totally different from previous albums, and Bill's voice has changed a bit, but it's still Tokio Hotel, and I personally think that it's worth buying. :]

TOKIO HOTEL! <3
...

ChrisJarmick says "wide mix of musical styles, salsa, dance to opera = great album" about David Byrne - Grown Backward

Only 2 of the 15 songs on Grown Backwards are opera--well David Byrne's skewed version of opera, with the help of Rufus Wainwright.

Grown Backwards is a pastiche of influences and styles that seem to be touched upon in this interesting hodge podge of an album that on this album includes music created by kitchen utensils, a vacuum cleaner, a theremin, classical string arrangements, South American and South African percussions and the inclusion of the Middle Eastern influenced Curtis Mayfield-like 2002 European Dance hit: Lazy (all 9 minutes and 35 glorious seconds of it).

If you're a Byrne fan, all you need to know is that this is nearly as strong an album as 'Look Into The Eyeball' was. It's a solid album and if you only like Byrne when he approximates Talking Head type music-there's 3 or 4 songs on this album for you too. If you don't mind Byrne's musical explorations then there are at least a dozen keepers on this album.

Which brings us back to opera. Byrne really does give us two songs...
...
