LauraBelle says "Hollywood and Las Vegas, an Interseting Mix" about Top 7 Las Vegas-Themed Movies

Sitting in a theater this week watching What Happens In Vegas, as I watched the scenes filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, I started running through my head the numerous other films that have either been based in Las Vegas or had a key scene filmed there. — — What Happens In Vegas is kind of in the middle of those two categories. The film has more than a few scenes, but not the whole film. Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher star as two people that go to Las Vegas to forget their sorrows, and end up married after a drunken evening together. As he wins big at the slots the next morning, she argues her entitlement to half of it as his legal wife. They argue this in court, and are sentenced to six hilarious months of hard marriage. This film is somewhat predictable, but nevertheless, very funny. — — The list below are the my favorite seven films either based in or with key scenes in Las Vegas: — — 1. Rain Main Only part of this film is in Las Vegas, but it...

The most phenomanol Pirate movie I have ever seen! — — The quick wittyness of the play writing, the makeup, the set, the actors--just marvelous! — The movie has enough story-line to keep you involved, but not enough to keep you intrigued with the next one! Cannot wait until next one comes out! — — Plus--who can resist Johnny Depp? —...

Well as a young mother I havent bought it yet because my son isnt old enough yet, but I know that I will be getting it. I do think that LeapFrog is a good company for parents to get their child to learn. I had bought them in the past for my niece and she loved it. The toys are education and they arent that expensive.
I can say very few good things about this movie. The storyline was bad. The actors and actresses did a bad job. It made me a little sick with the child molesters and killers. Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman do a pretty good job as detectives in this horrific tale about this little girl who was kidnapped because her mother is a crackhead. This child's mother spends all day abusing drugs while toting along her small daughter. The girl gets taken due to some money stolen from a small time drug dealer. She is missing for days upon weeks. The aunt hires two locals who know everyone in the area to find the missing girl. They do all they can do, but it is just not enough. There are a few twists and turns in the end and a conspiracy is uncovered. In the end, the little girl is found and returned to her loser mother. It didn't make for a good movie in my...

jmdobies says "Highly Effective Tool for Language Acquisition" about Bee Smart Baby: Vocabulary Builder - Vol. 2

Baby Bumblebee's Be Smart Baby Vocabulary Builder DVDs are a great way to teach your children new words and develop their language skills. Designed for children three and under, this series has been a big hit with my kids, and with my wife and I, as it beats the heck out of watching yet another Wiggles video or God forbid, the Teletubbies. — — The videos are very straightforward, following the same formula in each volume in the series: while soothing classical music plays in the background, images of a certain thing (a train, for instance) are shown with the word superimposed on the screen and an equally soothing female voice saying the word aloud. This process is repeated several times, reinforcing the lesson most effectively. I have seen firsthand the effectiveness of this approach, as my 2- and 3-year old children have learned many new words through these DVDs. — — My three year old son is actually learning to read and write as a result. He has even typed...

JCSKcats says "Unjustifiable...it had a lot of moving "moments."" about I Am Legend (2007)

I like Will Smith, I like a lot of the movies / shows he has been in, I beleive he is a good actor with exceptional acting abilities... Someone did not do Mr. Smith nor his co-actors justice when they released this movie (especially since it wasn't in theaters very long before hitting rental shelves). — I beleive there is a good story to be told in this movie, but someone either released an unfinished piece of work, or they edited out way to much and kept too many slow pieces of useless information, and the ending wasn't all that great either. At least it had a lot of moving...

Once you get past "knowing" whose voice belongs to which bee, and some of the funnier portions of the movie, you are inundated with what can really go wrong in a Bee's life. AND since there is a Bee issue in the news recently, this movie is really geared to the adults making an enviromental change, while trying to educate children on why life as they know it has a set of "checks and balances" that can be easily imbalanced by not having all the information/players in their places. —...

I suggest watching the "extra's" after watching the movie... and for those of you who know the true/real history behind Alvin, Simon, and Theadore's creator...you will enjoy the little extra's incorporated into the movie. This is another semi-educational movie for children (limits, beleiving in self and others, listening to adults / friends, etc) and adults alike. There is a lot of humor on all levels for every development stage in the family. The commercials and trailers have not done this movie justice... Watch with an open mind, and try not think of the cartoon / animated drawn versions soem of us have grown up with over the years... this one is unique in its own generational viewing and still keeps those of us from the earlier days awe...

Brings a new perspective with some historical information as to what and why the Loch ness monster has been so hard to capture on "real" filmography. It has a good plot, and good acting. Plus the scenery is gorgous for the era it is suppose to be filmed in. — My only suggestion is that young children understand that there "is" some loud noises assocciated with this film that could hurt their hearing / freighten them a little (depending on each child's sensitivity level). —...

As an adult it had some slow and boring parts in it. The Penquins are animated better then real penquins even though some were drawn similar to "real" penquins as possible (I would love to see a "real" HI surfing penquin with another species of penquins - NOT in a Zoo though). I believe everyone who watches this will come out with some educational value...

jmdobies says "Enjoyable and Rewarding If You're in the Right Frame of Mind" about Bongwater

1997's Bongwater, directed by Richard Sears, is an adaptation of an excellent novel by Michael Hornburg (Downer's Grove) starring Luke Wilson as unlucky pot dealer named Dave. When his flaky girlfriend (Alicia Witt) leaves him, she also manages to accidentally set fire to his house. Thus begins a series of amiable misadventures set in and around the stoner culture of Portland, Oregon. There is, however, a scene with Witt's character set in NYC that is anything but amiable, and the sudden change in tone is especially jolting. — — Wilson is immensely likeable in the role, and is ably supported by a great cast, which includes Jack Black as guerilla grower Devlin, who is also a troubadour, performing a nice version of "Jesus Ranch," a song Black wrote for his folk-metal band Tenacious D (Kyle Gass, Black's collaborator with the D, is also on hand in a mostly silent role). Also in the cast are Brittany Murphy (in full-on kooky and annoying mode), Amy Locane, Jeremy...

JCSKcats says "Tried to hard to balance Disney Classic w/new Genre" about Enchanted

I like Patrick Dempsey enough to rent this movie when it came out, and the lead actress is very good too! I was disappointed though with the "hype" of it being one of the best. Growing up on Disney, and being able to pinpoint which Disney "classics" were woven into this one was about the only highlight of the whole movie (besides P.D.). For those of you who didn't grow-up with Disney (classic, Snow White, Cinderella, Bambi, etc) you wont notice the difference (IMHOO) as not being one of the better Disney movies possible. Enchanted's crew should have kept it either animated or "real" film, and not made the princess out to be a clever ditz caught between the two worlds. — On a happier note*** The ending is mostly Classic Disney**** —...

Fardreamer says "Young Indy loses his innocence in 'The Years of Change' " about The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Volume Three - The Years of Change

Although the critically-acclaimed television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles had a lot going for it, including a set of distinguished screenwriters, a pool of talented directors, and production values that still rival some of today's feature films, George Lucas' ambitious hybrid of action-adventure prequel and history lesson failed to attract a large enough viewing audience for ABC to keep it on the air for more than two seasons. — — Perhaps audiences were put off by Lucasfilm's decision to not present the coming-of-age years of the world's favorite archaeologist/adventurer in a linear fashion; instead, especially during the first season in 1992, the episodes alternated between a 'tween Indy (Corey Carrier) and teen/young adult Indy (Sean Patrick Flannery) and would hopscotch across the years and locales. One week, Indy would be romancing Mata Hari in 1916 Paris, and the next he'd be a 10-year-old in Peking while on a global lecture tour with his father, Prof....

This show is great! It is always funny and has a great cast. It surrounds the main character (Ted) who is looking for love. We know he finds it because the show is a story told by a Ted in the future telling his children the story of how he met their mother, hence the title. This show is sweet, funny, and actually shows people who want to be in a relationship instead of sleeping around. There is the token sleeze-ball of the show, but even he is entertaining in his various ways of trying to pick up women. — I love how this show displays couples and it's whole view of relationships. Give the show a try if you haven't already. It's worth the time. —...
