VolFanGrl says "Inexpensive way to travel without ever leaving your home" about PostCrossing

When I was in elementary school I had a pen pal from Australia. She was actually a Vietnamese girl about my age whose family had fled the country during the war and made their home in Australia, but, I digress.... — One thing we exchanged, besides letters, were postcards and pictures. I still have those today, though I have long since lost contact with my friend. Today, I came across this site and immediately signed up. — I haven't actually got to do it yet, since it's almost 2am where I am, and it's Sunday (no mail), but, I got the idea of what happens. — — PostCrossing — After you sign up, you click on the "Send a Postcard" button and they send you a random name (at least I assume it's random). Once you have the name, it's simple. You send them a postcard in the mail. Once they receive the postcard, they log it into their account and then you receive a postcard from someone, I don't think it's the same person unless they choose to send you one back....

The first site I visit in the AM is Boomertowne.com. — It is similar to Myspace and Facebook but for the Baby Boomer Generation. — — Boomertowne(BT) is better than other social networking sites because it also has Discussion Boards with intelligent comments regarding serious and relevant topics. — — At BT there are also online games, recipes, jokes, quotes, news stories, weather condition updates, medical articles, videos from experts, contests, and an amazing rewards program. —...

This website is very nice for new moms, well all moms (or dads) really. It is a great place to meet moms in your area, ask questions about anything from parenting to gardening to marriage advice to which plumber to call. It is basically an advice website (almost like a yahoo answers for parents) only it is grouped by area... (i.e. I live in Illinois, so I don't see questions from moms in Georgia). The ONLY downfall I've seen on the website is that some members can be very preachy (almost like having the mother-in-law from h-e-double-hockey-sticks answering your question) but most are very supportive and...

Microgiving is a community website designed for those who can give a little to meet with those who need a little. — — For the Donor. Recipients must verify their identity and need making it a safe environment for donors. A donor can feel confident that their gift will go to someone who is simply doing the best they can but need a little help to be able to be self sufficient. — — For the recipient, Microgiving helps to filter out those who might just be looking for extra spending money, giving you the chance to move forward in line and get the help you really need. — — For me personally the best part of Microgiving is the community atmosphere.
Tigger123 says "Good site for catching up with old friends." about MySpace.com

Myspace.com is a good website. It lets you keep in touch with people and reconnect with old friends. But like most things, there is a drawback. Everything you put onto your profile becomes public domain. Any pictures or videos you put up can be looked at by anyone unless you make your profile private. Even then someone could still break into your account and see something you want only your friends to have access to, especially if you have a falling out with someone who knows your password or is on your friends list. So basically, Myspace is a good website but you have to be careful what you put into it. You have to make sure you only add whatever pictures or content you're ok with the world...
