Dread00009 says "2.1-inch LCD; large, rubberized backlit buttons;" about Panasonic - KX TGA740B Cordless Phone

The Panasonic KX-TG7400 series keeps things simple and only comes in black, which is fine with us, though the glossy black finish on the base unit is a fingerprint magnet (the handsets themselves have a mostly matte finish). In terms of displays, the 2.1-inch LCD on this model is one of the biggest you'll find on a cordless phone and it should appeal to sight-challenged folks who don't want to squint to see numbers and anything else on the screen (the numbers appear quite large). It has a light-blue backlight that's activated when you touch the keys. We liked the large, rubberized buttons (they, too, get the backlight treatment when pressed) and we found the user interface to be relatively straightforward and easy to navigate. Our one small gripe is that the top of the phone is made of shiny plastic and is prone to showing fingerprints and any oil from your face. This isn't a big deal, but you will find yourself having to wipe the phone every few days if you want to keep it clean.
...

nyliferocks says "SCAN2PDF Android App Replaces The Need For A Flatbed Scanner" about Burrotech - Scan2PDF Android Application

I am a G1 mobile phone owner and I download new free applications weekly into my phone. Most of them offer a great service or feature I am looking for. I recently paid for my first application which is called Scan2PDF Mobile from Burrotech. Burrotech’s application cost me just over $1 USD and has become the best application I have ever used for my mobile phone. Scan2PDF Mobile is a program that uses your G1 phone camera to “scan” documents and convert them into a .PDF file.

Scan2PDF enables you to scan a document with your phones camera, convert it to a pdf, save the result on your phones SD card and email it as an attachment. In a recent update Burrotech also included a PDF viewer to view your PDF documents. The downloaded program size shows 136kb of space. The unique feature of this program is its ability to scan every word so you are able to read it on your screen just as you would with a regular scanner. Normally when you take a picture of a document with your mobile phone...
...

joanzack says "When we couln't afford TV my daughter got a Location Free" about Sony - Location Free

When my husband became disabled a year ago and we were looking to cut corners my daughter bought us a Sony Location free and mailed us the empty box. I was perplexed about what was going on until she explained that with the location free hooked up at her house, where they still have digital cable, I could watch their TV thru our internet.

My daughter got the idea from her aunt who uses a slingbox to provide TV to her brother who lives abroad. The slingbox is quite expensive, but upon researching simmilar items she discovered the Sony Location Free, which she was able to get during the holiday season for only $36!

We didn't use it much initially, but when the digital transition happend and we lost all of our UHF channels on the TV and they were replaced by all bible and spanish programming we turned to the sony.

A small box the size of a cable modem gets plugged in an a non-high-traffic room (becuse they'd have to watch what we're watching in that room) at my daughter's house. ...
...

LauraBelle says "Does the Job Without Bells and Whistles" about Olympus - Digital Voice Recorder VN-3100

I don't exactly understand the electronics behind why this doesn't work. I find myself in need of recording phone conversations when I do interviews with celebrities. I started out writing notes by hand during the phone conversations and moved to typing it out, both of which make it hard to concentrate on the conversation. I want my iPhone to do this, but it won't, even with the new Voice Memos feature. That pauses your phone conversation while you record. Maybe it's more a legal issue than an electronic issue. I resorted to using a small handheld digital voice recorder, an Olympus VN-3100, which does the job without bells and whistles.

This Olympus digital recorder is just the right size for being handheld, fitting perfectly. To get the clearest recording possible, I put my phone on speaker, and butt the microphone end of the recorder up to the speaker end of my phone. And this allows me to hold both at the same time comfortably, although I admit it does seem somewhat archaic in this day...
...

I just bought a Phillips - Indoor HD antenna SDV2710/27 for $19.99.

I plugged it into my converter box and instantly noticed marked improvement. I'm picking up 15 channels with clear strong signals and without having to move the antenna around. With my previous rabbit ears I got about 10 channels, but would have to go to great lengths in order to find the best positions for the antenna to pick them up.

I am quite happy with this twenty-dollar purchase. I think it is well worth the money.

I bought this Philips indoor HD antenna @ Target, cost 19.95 plus tax. Installed it in seconds after taking it out of the box.

I reconfigured my HD converter box connected to this antenna. It is not a powered model so there is no amplified gain control.

The signal strength received and quality of the picture did not improve. I compared it to the Rabbit ears that were attached to the TV. Very disappointing. The only thing good about the antenna is that it has a small footprint.

The HD people would like us to believe we need to purchase special antennas to get over air transmissions when HD signals are broadcast in UHF signals.

That is all one needs once the switch is made in June to trap a signal. We also will need a converter box.
...

Here is a great cellphone! I mean the Samsung Messenger Model SCH-R450 is the best thing since sliced bread. Okay, maybe not exactly sliced bread but definitely a great phone. I am an Event Planner with my own business and this phone allows me a lot of versatility. It is the cellphone with a camera, friend finder, MP3 player and GPS system. It is internet ready and bluetooth compatible as well. I need all of these things to do business and it also has the QWERTY keyboard to allow me to send texts much faster. I just love this thing. It comes in black or red and it sleek and easy to put in a pocket, purse or hang around your neck. It was a little pricey at first but it is worth every cent spent. I find that I use it as much as I use my laptop. It is like having a mobile office. On most days, I can depend totally on my Samsung Messenger to achieve most if not all of my business responsibilities. I would recommend this accommodating device for anyone looking for versatility...
...

How difficult can it be to get a home phone? Really now. This is my second phone system this week, and this GE 25942 8.5 GHz three handset phone system is packed up and ready to return to Wal-Mart.

The GE home system seems like a great idea. Three phones. You have one base unit that is hooked to the landline phone connection. The other two sets have chargers and can be placed anywhere in the house with a electrical outlet. Here - that means one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom (my son's idea - not mine).

The set up was fairly simple other than all the set up and option buttons being labeled in small print that I can't read without hunting up my reading glasses which stay chronically lost. I did find them and managed to set the time and get a message on the built in answering machine. It's not difficult when you can see the words - some written sideways beside phone number buttons.

The LCD display, fortunately, is larger. I could see the calls coming in - the numbers. And, then I found...
...

bkovacs says "Very cool handheld audio recorder, but pricey" about M-Audio MicroTrack II (2048 MB) Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

Earlier this year, I was given an M-Audio MicroTrack II audio recorder, ostensibly to cover news events at a major technology convention at which I was a reporter. Funny thing is that I was traveling when the unit was sent to me and didn't get it until after I returned home from the convention. Since then, I've used the Microtrack II a few times and now have a decent sense of the unit. I didn't know until today that that the M-Audio MicroTrack II has a list price of $500.

What it is

The M-Audio MicroTrack II is a small handheld professional-grade stereo audio recorder. It's a little bigger than a full-size deck of cards and weighs a bit more than eight ounces. At that size and weight, it's easily carried in a shirt pocket with room to spare. The MicroTrack II has a built-in rechargable battery that is replaceable.

The MicroTrack II has a good complement of connectors, including a mini-phone stereo mic connector, left/right balanced mic/line-in connectors (1/4-inch tip-ring-sleeve), left/right......

I was in the market for a mic to replace my cheap desktop one and since I do voice acting I wanted something that would let me branch out professionally. I checked out various models of other brands but I wanted something made in USA that would last. I took a look at what SHURE offered and the KSM27 was the right fit for me. I had to get a preamp and new soundcard to be able to hook it up to my computer but that was only a drop in the bucket for the great and clear sound quality I get from this mic. I also added on a popfilter for greater clarity. I actually dropped it once and it still works.

I record in a room that has no door and it's sitting on top of my desk that has my computer underneath. It doesn't pick up those sounds! It just picks up my voice. I also love the different settings on the mic to adjust decibels and more.
...

bkovacs says "Easy to install but for smaller chimneys" about Ace - Z-Type Chimney Mount

I have a house in the mountains where there is terrible cell phone reception and no easy solution to getting Internet service. I could pay $10 per month for a dial-up line but dial-up lines are slow and they tie up the phone line for hours at a time. I work for a big cell phone company that offers a wireless high-speed Internet service (called EVDO) that I can get for free, but its operation was negligible-to-nil in the house -- when it worked, it was slower than a dial-up line. Then I had the idea to try my EVDO card in my laptop computer... on the roof. Bingo -- I got enough reliable reception to make it worth my while to install an outdoor antenna.

Chimney Mount

The first step to install an outdoor antenna is some sort of antenna mount, and the easiest type of mount that's good and strong is a chimney mount. I went to all the stores I could think of looking for an antenna chimney mount before I found one at a well-stocked Ace Hardware store for $15. It is the Ace Z-Type Chimney Mount and......

AudioMaster says "For all your recording needs!" about Rode - NT1A Professional Microphone

If you are looking for an all in one mic, look no further. The cardiod Rode NT-1 large capsule is sonically what most audio engineers only talk about. Put to the test with acoustic guitars, vocals and even a flute, every capture was decent enough to mix and master. The NT-1 is immensely sensitive and the quality of the mic-pre amps you use with the NT-1 can dramatically alter the output if the mic. I would consider only using high end external hardware when using this microphone.

If you have an acoustically controlled room, this mic will be a great asset to your arsenal of equipment. When recording vocals, this mic reacts to the dynamics awesomely. It varies by tonality of vocal composition but works well nonethless decently with virtually every performer.

I have used the the NT-1 for roughly two years and have been happy with its performance everytime.
My local home phone company (Sprint), was taken over by a company I had never heard of called Windstream. Since the switch I have had nothing but problems. The company changed to Windstream about a year ago. I have had to call for phone and DSL repairs a number of 12 times. I have had to call about the DSL 3 times in one month. When you call to inquire about what is going on with your service you usually talk to someone who barely speaks english and has absolutely no idea what you are talking about or how to fix the problem. I would have to go over the same stuff every single time I made a call for repairs. This is the worst service I have ever had and I am 34 years old. I don't recommend it if you have any other choice. I don't have a choice, if I want a home phone it's Windstream or nothing. We usually end up having to use our Verizon Wireless(picks up everywhere) Cell's to make calls....

Rickk1 says "Excellent design for a desktop microphone" about Logitech - USB Microphone

The only problem I had with this product was getting the computer to recognize a USB microphone (it's the first USB microphone I'd ever used). But once I figured out how to get microphone input via USB instead of the microphone input in the back, it has worked marvelously.
I borrowed my son's recorder when I attended an important meeting. I didn't miss a word and was able to replay and review the important points. Make that grocery list or record that phone number or address. Record that special moment with your children or friends. A great gift for Mom, Dad or the kids. No excuses about missing or forgetting stuff. Great prices at many places in all towns....

bigfreeb21 says "A voice recorder that does what it says it can do." about Olympus - VN-4100PC Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

I am a professional journalist who is always interviewing people. Having a voice recorder is a definite necessity of my job. The VN-4100 is small enough to fit in your pocket, yet not so small that it is easy to lose. It has four different folders to be able categorize your recordings; a definite advantage for those amnesiacs like myself who have to record several things and can't always remember which interview was which. There is a feature that allows you to set record points, so that you can just jump right to those areas during the playback. This feature, however, is slightly difficult to master. Pausing the recording, on the other hand, leaves no sound marks or ticks that make the replay sound as though it were paused in that spot. As with most recorders, outside noise does interfere slightly with recording, but not enough that the recorded person can not be heard.

There are several great accessories available, such as the phone conversation recorder, the metal neck strap, and the...
...
